  1. They will if Saban calls Thought no-tackle QB is fairly common in scrimmages, especially for pass heavy offenses. Obviously Simpson doing so much on the move makes things a little different, but that's the best work imaginable for your defense.
  2. My 2 cents is that this year's DA team could have been in the mix in AA, though not last year's. CPA and Lipscomb both are a little bit better, but 2020 DA was that good. Frankly, when I was watching the 5A final last night I thought both DA and USJ could compete with those teams.
  3. Good game. The turnovers hurt but bottom line DA was just the better team. USJ left it all on the field which is all you can really ask. Hard to believe we're 0-8 in these things! I'd say we're due for a winning streak now. Congratulations to DA on the three peat!
  4. What a play by Tabor! My goodness. That was a great dive to hit the pylon.
  5. Put some gorilla glue on those gloves! Let's go USJ!
  6. Hope springs eternal! USJ will have to play their best game of the year to beat DA, and you never know they just might. We were missing a couple of horses last time who will be back in action. Just leave it all on the field! Good luck and safe travels to everyone!
  7. Dominant performance by USJ's O line in the second half. #13 is a special back for DCA, and they put up a ton of fight. Just too much size up front for the Bruins. Now onto the big Bears...
  8. I'm just glad this game is at DCA instead of USJ. I believe Chris Wooden is still running on Kirkland Field 17 years later! I watched some clips of the TCA game. This is a pretty close matchup. USJ has a slight edge up front, but DCA will have the best playmaker on the field - especially with #1 out for USJ. Think this is a toss up! Hoping for a great game and safe travels!
  9. Very nice win for Trinity. #2 and #15 were both running really hard and making defenders miss. O line was firing off the ball. You can tell the whole team is playing with a lot more confidence in the new offense. Continually impressed with Butler's ability to tinker with his team until he finds a way to be effective. It also takes good kids to buy in and change on the fly. Congrats to the Lions!
  10. DA is legit. It sure looks like they are head and shoulders above the rest of the division this year. This team would be in the mix in DII-AA. USJ had the right game plan. Throw some different looks at them and try to take a quick lead. The injury to #24 took the wind out of their sails and they couldn't quite capitalize on a couple other opportunities. Realistically, they needed to put up 17-21 points at the start but got 9. We knew about DA's running game and the extra element with the passing attack this year, but I was mega impressed with DA's defense. It looked like they were doing college level stuff with their blitzes and coverages. What a well-coached team with great talent out there executing. Even though we were on the wrong end, you still have to appreciate excellence when you see it. One takeaway for USJ here, I thought they got a bit demoralized when #24 got hurt and the momentum turned. Heads down and shoulders slumped, that sort of thing. Not every game will always go your way but you've always got to give it your full fight til the final buzzer. I'd bet Coach Stroup noticed that too and will make a point of it. That's one of those life lessons that comes in handy later on. Congrats to DA on an excellent team!
  11. 14-9 DA at half. USJ came out hot but didn't take full advantage of three trips to the red zone. All DA since then. #24 out is a big loss for USJ. Loved that look with him at tight end.
  12. USJ might be better this year than last, but the problem is I think DA is too. I've only seen highlights, but it looks like you guys might have a better passing game than last year. Think DA's lines aren't quite what they were last year but still very, very good. Swinea is such a hard runner. If he hits the line of scrimmage with a head of steam, it's asking a whole lot of your db's to try and tackle him for four quarters. DA is the champ and has got to be the favorite until proven otherwise. USJ has a balanced attack on O and some speedsters. They should be able to score a few touchdowns. The question is can the USJ front seven make enough plays in DA's backfield to force some punts? Looking forward to this one!
  13. Hey Bruin fans, I see USJ vs Greenfield on the coacht schedule. Thought we were off until DA? Anybody know?
  14. Got to give a lot of credit to McKenzie. There were a couple of spots where it looked like USJ would take a big lead, but the Rebels never let up. Really well-played game by two good teams. That's a good win for the Bruins against a quality opponent. Still some things to clean up of course. Onto the next game whoever the heck it's against!
  15. Wow, what a catch and run by Tyke Tabor. That's D1 stuff. 35-20 USJ in the 4th.
  16. Game is streaming here by the way: http://tncitylinktv.com/channel/jackson-tv/
  17. 28-12 USJ. McKenzie at midfield now in opening drive of second half.
  18. I was going to post that this game has been a little closer than the score would show, until McKenzie returned that blocked punt. Big opening series!
  19. What a fun game! One bright side of all this mess is we get fun matchups like this one. As a USJ fan, this one worries me a bit. I watched McKenzie vs Peabody a few weeks ago and thought you guys had a big line and some good pieces, just needed to move some players to the right spots. Will be interesting to see what changes y'all have made in the two weeks off. For USJ the question is how they will bounce back from a controversial, emotionally charged game last week. McKenzie is a good team, and USJ will need to avoid the penalties and unforced errors they've had the last two games. That said, with Coach Stroup back in the fold I think USJ will get back on track. I say we win by a touchdown and a field goal. McKenzie has some players, but i think USJ is just a bit better in all three phases of the game. Would love to come to this one but unfortunately I have a little pile of unpaid speeding tickets from that little camera y'all got..McKenzie's most wanted.

    USJ vs JCS

I'm glad this rivalry is back. It's more fun when JCS, TCA and USJ all have good teams. I just wish the game Friday had been at JCS so we could've given it a cool nickname like the "Country Club Lane Screwjob." Maybe we still can..."The Flag-Timeout Continuum", "The Fourth Timeout of the Flagpocalypse", "Four Timeouts and 27 Flags Ago..." I guess even a blind eagle can find a win once a decade or so!

  22. Hey can we expect #50 back this year? Only saw he wasn't in game and didn't hear an update if it was given. Kid is having a heck of a season.

On the bright side I don't want to hear anyone accuse us of paying off the refs ever again.

    USJ vs JCS

JCS wins 16-14 with a last second field goal. Can't say it was a great game but what an emotional rollercoaster. Some questionable officiating to say the least. Hate it for the kids to have a game so influenced by officiating. 26 flags? JCS has a great team though. They're right up there with the other top teams in DII-A for sure. A lot of speed, solid line and that QB was eluding pressure all night and made some great throws on the run. Congrats JCS! Hoping for a rematch.
