  1. Trousdale coming back down to Class 1A is the big news, not just in the region they will wind up in (almost certainly region 4), but across the state. They've been gone for a while, but remember what they did when they were single A and they've been competitive playing two classes higher. With most of the private school powerhouses moving to 2A, I believe Trousdale automatically goes in the top five statewide year in and year out.
  2. Just curious: how many schools don't have the benefit of getting their games broadcast? I would suspect for a lot of small schools, many don't have a station calling their games.
  3. Injuries sure have hurt the Dawgs this season. I'm not sure they've had the same starting backfield in any two games yet. QB has missed two full games and basically two halves of other games, starting tailback has missed the last three games, starting FB (now a lineman) missed first two games. Coaches have been forced to do a lot of shuffling. QB Andrew Campbell looked very impressive at WH-Heritage on his return last week. This game will be a battle between two very similar teams who know a lot about each other.
  4. I'd have to agree with this pick. He runs as hard as anyone I've ever seen at the Class A level, and is a workhorse.

    1A Playoffs

Boyd gets back to the big game, but I'm not sure who they'll meet. I'll leave that up to you guys in the western half of Middle Tennessee. Got to be somebody from region 5, though. I can't tell who's best this year out of that bunch--CPA or DCA.
  6. One interesting fact about this game: there will be two teams running the wing-T, or a version of it. You don't see that much anymore, and both teams have had success running it when they changed to that style. Clay rushed for over 2,500 yards last season, and Monterey has had great success this year with it. They both ought to know how to defense it.
  7. I don't know exactly how the WHH-Clay game will turn out.......I think I do, but I'll reserve my opinion. I will say this since the topic has been brought up: a lot of people over in this neck of the woods don't want to play Temple, take my word for it. They have beaten two playoff teams from last year, and they probably would be a playoff team in the region we're talking about here. I saw their game against Clay, and their improvement from last year is almost unbelievable.
  8. I've seen Friendship, haven't seen Monterey. I know the Cats are vastly improved and I believe they have a good team, but I have to give this one to Friendship. Monterey isn't the only one who's vastly improved--the Commanders are, too. They're a lot more physical than they were last year, and that passing game can just chew you up. The Gaines kid is so elusive. Monterey may prove me wrong. As for the wing-T, a creative coach can run anything out of that formation--from the option to straight power football to basically any passing package you prefer. It's quite versatile if you have the right coach and personnel.
  9. I believe you have to say Boyd is the big favorite until something happens to prove different. They have virtually the same team as last year (all a year older and more experienced), and they steamrolled through the playoffs in 2003. In terms of teams not mentioned a lot, having seen Friendship Christian, I'd like to say they could advance well into the playoffs. They have an awesome passing attack when it's clicking. They have a problem, though. They will have to play Boyd, probably in the third round, and I don't see the Commanders beating BB. I'm not saying it'll be a cakewalk for BB, but I think they'll take it all.
  10. This game shapes up as a good one. Temple has a returning all-state wide receiver and a high-powered passing offense. It'll be up to Clay County's defense (and maybe special teams) to win this one. Temple scored 33 points on CAK and is averaging about 30 per game. I don't see a big margin either way. If Clay County can control the ball on the ground for most of the game, I'd give them the nod in a close one.
  11. Does anyone know the score of the Temple-King's Academy game, or has it even been played?
  12. Trousdale--by a comfortable margin.
  13. Northern middle Tennessee looks like it'll be much better off Friday than tonight, at least according to one weather source. One of the national weather services is giving no rain at all for our area past early Friday AM. You folks in the east are gonna catch most of the precip.
  14. Celina. Looks like only one area game changed to Thursday nite so far, but tons of games are being changed in the east. Weatherman talking like Friday could be bad, especially the wind.
  15. I'll have to say what someone else did--too close to call for me at this point. Any talk of this game shifting to Thursday nite? That's growing in popularity at this point. Looks like a couple dozen games in east and middle TN so far.
  16. Two good teams in this one--both playoff caliber. How many times has TC lost two in a row recently, at home, too?
  17. I thought JP2 was in Division II. They aren't listed in Class 1A for next season's reclassification. Can somebody clarify?
  18. How did this original thread evolve into the history of G-ville and C©HS? It started out as Clay against Grace, and Clay will win and win big. The Dogs haven't started out like they wanted to, but remember, they started out 0-2 last year and finished 7-3. They haven't had their real lineup in a game yet. When your 6-2, 260 all-region FB/LB is out for two games, it makes a difference, at least in that first game. One thing's for sure, Friendship is for real. Sweeney will be playing again next year. That passing game is scary--much improved from last year.
