  1. Thats good news. Also hope both teams are full strength come friday night.
  2. Just wondering how the Phillips kid is doing and did he play last night ?
  3. Sounds like to me if Smith Co. can stop #10 and #21 they should win going away. But that might be a hard chore for the Owls. Like someone stated earlier, SC has had lots of trouble stopping the fast position players like LA-DeKalb had so guess we will see. I'm sure the SC coaches will throw in a new wrinkle to at least contain them. And on the other hand SC has several weapons not 1 or 2 several that the Jackets will have to defend. Could be a shootout much like the York game, but I like the Owls at home to win.Haven't got to see the Owls play this year like yrs. past but they are always fundamentally sound and have a great coaching staff. The Owls may not have the speed like they have had in the past but I guarantee they will be stronger than Fairview and that takes its toll on a team later on in the game. Good luck OWLS and let the game be injury free.
  4. Agree Twan both great looking players, but what I can't figure out is why are these clips of Moore and Franklin are of last year ???? Correct me if I'm wrong but last year is last year ....what about this year?
  5. Sounds like a heart stopper for sure in the hole last night. Got to give the Dragons a lil respect for the points they put on the board. I know many Owl fans would argue the point that much of that was just no tackling, missed assignments etc.etc. Still a win is a win is a good win. Good luck to both teams next week and make some noise in the play-offs. This poster has been out of pocket the last 2 yrs and has sort of lost out on most of the teams in this area. Trying to make a come back myself on the know of H.S. Football. Didn't realize that Coach Brown was still at York until last night. Last I remember he was retiring and stepping down. I have always respected his effort as a coach. He gets more out of a team with less talent than just about any coach I ever knew. (Jimmy Maynord the best at that IMO). Congrats coach Brown against the high flying Eagles of Westmoreland next week.
  6. Glover I agree the road to Cookeville will be a big chore thats for sure, but anything is possible. There would have to be a lot of things have to go right for any of our districts teams to make the dance. But it's been done before. Good luck to the Owls. Looks like the Owls are getting better everygame and are starting to believe. Might be a good motto for the teams in this area " Just Believe ."
  7. Way to go Cats big win last night, now get ready for play-offs. Got a feeling that these 2 teams will square off again in round 2. Hope the Phillips kid is ok. McCoin is the real deal as is Hayes but a ton of credit has to go to the guys in the trenches. Linder, Reagan, Pressley, Mayberry, McDonald and Thrasher deserves a ton of credit on the Cats success thus far and it showed up again last night. So happy for the Cats in winning the District title and good luck to the Cats in the Play-offs. Great coaching job by LA coaches in preparing for this game. No one had been able to shut the Tigers down all year. Keep up the hard work and lets bring another Gold Ball to the trophy case !!! Would like to wish good luck for all teams in this area during the play-offs.
  8. Hey Daddy Mac it's just my opinion. The Owls like I said have been getting getting better every game and are starting to gel. How many teams can shut-out a team like White House. This Owl team is leaps and bounds better than they were earlier in the season. How many teams can shut WH out. LA couldnt do it. I believe if LA and SC played again the outcome would be much different. All they have to do is shut down your alls running game and it's pretty much over for the Dragons. I believe it's safe to say that WH is just a tad better than the Dragons. Thats what I am basing the 3 scores by...could be more or could be less. And I know that the Dragons have been a thorn in the side of the Owls the past few yrs. Good Luck to both teams and hope there are no injuries to either team.
  9. Has anyone thought about which team will gain a lil advantage if it were to rain friday night ? Just curious ! If DC depends on the pass then surely that could play a huge swing towards the CATS. What kind of running game does DC have ?
  10. Totally agree King. If it gets to hot in the pocket Brock will make a play with his arm or what he does best his feet.
  11. I agree 45..... controling the game and the clock however will give DC less opportunities on offense. Ther's more than one way to skin a Tiger lol
  12. Good luck OWLS. Looks like this team is starting to peak at the right time. Unlike Owl teams in the past when they peaked to soon and had lack luster play when the play-offs started. Momentum plays a big part in any sport. This years Owl team seems to have a good amount heading down the stretch. York has some good players and stopping the veer is just a matter of assignment football. Owls win by 3 scores..
  13. Hello King how you doing coach, see your talking up some of LA's finest. You know if LA decides to control the clock and pound Linder - Reagan and Hayes that would force DC to have to score every possession. Not A bad philosophy if you ask me. I think our D can stop DC every other series dont you. Or we could get in a shootout and we might not like the outcome. What you say.
  14. Pure and simple.......the team that wants it the most will do whatever it takes to win.
  15. Until DeKalb beats LA then it's going to be just like the last 7 or 8 times, LA takes the Tigers to the woodshed. Hayes and McCoin are no doubt the main stays in the CATS success, but they will be the first to tell you that they haven't done it all by themselves. I'm sure the Tigers are a good team, but they better come into HOGEYE ready to play because the CATS will be.
  16. What this game boils down to is this ...........can the SC Defense contain the big plays by McCoin and Hayes ? If so then looks like another SC victory IMO. Also the DEPTH factor could play a key role which is in favor of SC. The LA Defense will have their hands full with the running of Manning and the new QB Givens. There should be some some hard hits thrown by both teams. Last man standing will more than likely win.
  17. You will one day my friend lol. Then what you gonna do when the well runs dry.
  18. Ready for some H.S. Football !!! The Owls will be the favorite and should be. However the Warriors new staff have high expectations for their team. Should be a good game for both teams to showcase some talent. Let it be a safe and injury free game.
  19. Hey Devil what up? Went to the game last night. It's not hard to hold any body in the 30's if you hold the ball the whole game. Upperman has a point guard as good as anybody in the Randolph girl. Without that young lady Upperman would be an average team IMO.
  20. Is this a loaded question ? lol one word COACHING
  21. Well Swaney to tell you the truth I don't go to a lot of games guess I'm getting to old for that. But lets just say I'm some what connected to a couple of girls that play for Clay Co. Just was really disappointed with how their coach just let the game slowly slip away. I was way out of line on the comments I have made about Simms but the fact still remains that how he could just sat there and do nothing. Working the sideline and the refs and being involved with the game to me is a pretty good part of coaching. Because every game is different. Don't believe Rogers sat down the entire game. He was coaching and working the refs selling popcorn taking up tickets and so on lol. I guess Simms is old school..you know throw the ball out and just play. But that technique doesn't work today. With kids playing ball 12 months out of the year you better be changing your ways because your getting farther and farther behind. If you don't want to change then step down and let someone that would put their heart and soul into the job. Just saying
  22. Wish I could be their coach. I promise the outcome would have been different. But I never said I could coach but I know I could have done better than what was shown the other night. Even the big boys call time outs to set up plays. Did you even watch the game ??? Clay had already lost 2 girls to injury 1 fouled out another starter had 4 and your telling me he didn't need to call a time out. Clay lost all their inside game ..that's why CR started playing ball nothing else. It's bad when you only play 5 girls the whole game and when something like this happens your asking a girl to come off the bench and play lights out. The girls that came in have very little PT with Sims because he knows nothing. You know that's why a good coach uses his bench to give the starters a rest or maybe one of them might match-up better than the ones in there. What ever the case Sims lost the game not the kids. And another thing.. the whole CR team , everyone in the gym that knows anything about ball knows who is going to take the shot ROACH. I mean the starters were all on the bench with Sims. All CR has to do is keep her from getting the ball. DUH Maybe I shouldn't say that Sims knows nothing about the game, but he could at least try and impersonate a coach instead of just sitting there like a knot on a log. GOOD GOSH at least go down swinging. I can name several coaches that would have loved to be in that situation guarantee they would have at least tried to stop the bleeding. Guess what upsets me so bad is that he just sat there and let CR win the game. And it's not life or death it's just a game. There are several more important things in life than ball, but if your gonna play the game at least try to win or why even play and keep score.
  23. Well coached that's a laugh-er. If they had one then maybe Roach wouldn't have taken that shot. It's funny that you say CR played sloppy and lazy for 3 and a half quarters. Think maybe the Clay Co. girls might have had a little something to do with that ??? Don't give those girls any credit at all. They played the game without a coach. So just go ahead thinking that as sorry as your girls played Clay still couldn't beat you all since CR is the best thing since sliced bread. LOL Sims ought to be arrested for impersonating a coach.
  24. A real tough loss for the Lady Bulldogs last night. I felt sorry for the girls because they left it on the court giving their all. The Roach girl is definitely one of the best players in the district. Great court awareness and an awesome shooter. The Garrett girl #20 played a great game as well. Pulled down big rebounds and put them back in against a real rugged big girl from CR. Losing Ogletree and #55 with knee injuries and #22 fouling out definitely hurt Clay's chances. But they still could have won if they had a coach that knew anything about the game. I was simply in shock watching him just sat there just like a spectator. He may be a good coach behind closed doors but his game coaching is pathetic. I've seen better coaches in the lower ranks 6 and 7 yr old teams. Prime example Clay's got the ball with 25 secs remaining leading by 3 and he just sits there looking out in left field and doesn't call a timeout to at least talk to the girls settle them down ( because by this time the girls don't know what to do panic mode ) and maybe set up a play or tell them what to do if this happens or that happens. Well low and behold Clay throws the ball away and CR hits a 3 to send it into overtime and the game is all but lost now. It was one of the biggest disappointment's I have ever witnessed. From what I hear from many of the Clay fans Sims is only trying to break a record set by Thomas Watson as the winningest coach in Clay history. Well if that's true good luck with that coach I hope you get the job done. But you won't set their against a team like CR or Jackson Co. and win but maybe the trip down to some school in Nashville will give you one more win towards your goal. Oh forgot this one. In overtime Clay finally loses the lead and CR has the ball with about a min to go leading by 2 and Clay is still in a zone just letting the clock run. No pressure whatsoever. How the man has won a game is beyond me. I know the girls he had were better than their opponents is how they won. Much like last night Clay definitely had the better atheletes but were simply out coaced by Rodgers. Change coaches and Clay wins by 20 easy.
  25. Now that's more like it. Tell it like it really is rlh. I'm like Grunt...I'm not buying into SP faithful about how it will take a perfect game in order for them to win. I saw SP when the Sisco Kid played and the great tradition that this program has had through the yrs. Gordonsville will definitely have to play one of their better games to beat Pitt. And vise-versa. Should be an ole slobber knocker kind of game. With the winner a heavy favorite to get the GOLD. Pulling for the neighbors down the road to go all the way. GO TIGERS
