  1. I understand but how many years ago was that. I played with a QB in 94 that threw for right at 2900 yards against Maryville, Cleveland, Halls, Powell, etc. and the D-1 would not look at him because he wasn't 6'3 or 6'4. Times have changed since the days of Bill Bates.
  2. Did a wonderful job this year. Very exciting to watch. You don't see many QB's with his intensity on defense. Not to be negative, but there is no way he will play QB at a D-1 school. Matter of fact he will not play at a D-1. Could have a chance contributing at a D-1AA on the devensive side of the ball. Not saying he isn't good enough athletically, but let's all be serious, the big schools don't even look at kids any more unless they fit that perfect size model. I don't agree with that, but it is true. Rarely will a school take a chance on a undersized kid. Great season Cates. At times he single handedly kept his team going this year.
  3. Don't know how any of this got started. Larry isn't going anywhere for a while.
  4. Sorry if my quote sounded that way. I never meant to take away anything from the kids at Kingston. They have a great program there. I was just asking if kids did not play because of the rumor. But, if you were to take Johnson away from Kingston, they would be a little lesser time I do believe, or a Rogan from Fulton, or a Carden from AC, or a Cates from Livingston. No harm intended on my post.
  5. If they had been using illegal players, did those players play last night, or did the stand on the sidelines. Is that what helped Kingston to a victory.
  6. One of the posts said it right though. These are just rumors. Nothing has even been mentioned about AE being in trouble from anyone that matters. Who started the rumor in the first place. If it were true, why is the athlete ineligible.
  7. Greg Deal from Anderson County did a wonderful job filling in for Larry when he went down with the bad wheel.
  8. Big Indian, I would disagree with that statement. I bet that it would mean something to TL regardless of where he is. Just as it should to you. I figured with you being that close to TL you would have thought the same also.
  9. Big Indian, I'm shocked you picking the highlanders.
  10. You had better be up walking with your kids.
  11. What did Smith hurt Friday night.
  12. Anderson County vs. Powell 1994. Powell was #2 in the state, AC came from 21 to 10 at the half to win 24-21.
  13. Go ahead and blame the coaches for everything. That is the as the easiest way out. Don't bother taking responsibility when your son was younger and you didn't discipline him. Or maybe he tells the coaches what to do because at home he hears his mom and dad call the coaches idiots all the time. If you don't respect the coach neither will your son. That is a lot of the problem. It starts at home. We have started asking our coaches to not just coach but raise our children. People in the stands have no idea what goes in a coaches life through the week. What society and our football teams need are some parents that will take responsiblity with their son, back the coaches instead of bashing, and worry more about the team than whether or not their 5'6 142lbs. 5.1 40 yd dash son gets to play tailback.
  14. Hey whiley, did you play any ball in high school.
  15. Lots of turnover in the AC/Kingston and AE/Catholic games. They had a big impact on the turnouts.
  16. Hey BIG INDIAN you didn't have some close ties to AC at one time did you?
  17. This Coach Deal is doing an outstanding job during the abscence of Coach Kerr. I wonder if he would be interested in the head job permanently.
  18. Clinton, TN not confused with Clinton High School though. What about the guy that is filling in for Coach Kerr right now. Who is doing that job.
  19. Catholic is a great football team. Having seen both teams play, Anderson County may not get on the bus to go play. I just hope their coaches haven't shown them any film. They may all fake injuries this week to stay out of this one.
  20. Now oskie, you know that we are not suppossed to talk about coaching staffs on this board. Beside, I never mentioned staff, did I? I just said some new blood. You shouldn't assume so much.
  21. I beg to differ. Those three would made a huge difference in the freshman. Let's see, two of them made a difference against Clinton's varsity. As far the kids staying around, I hope they do. 42-7 isn't much hype for a cross county rivalry game. Shattuck will do a good job in the future if he can shake things up and get some new blood around the field house.
  22. If cuteness was measured in rushing yards, AC's assistant Jason Phillips would have 5,000 plus this season.
