I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth and wish Waverly well cause the "Battle for the Bridge" was turning into a joke!...but really I hope the athletes get behind the new coach and that the team can make the turn around needed to become competitive again....btu I agree with rcombs it may be a few years before that can happen.

Why would they worry about your game...it won't effect the outcome of this region...I say Riverside or Lewis co both have a good shot at second in this region.

If Camden is second in Region 6 then who is 1st??...just curious cause you keep saying that....have no fear Coach Ward is good at homework

I agree with Gerry it will be interesting to see how Middle TN teams adjust to power- run- speed ball. We western transplants just hate the fact that we will have to go through the aphabet soup schools before we can get back to playing those teams in the west that we just love to hate!

rcombs....I think this is the year that Camden could get the "Mustang Monkey" off their backs with all the upheavel that is going on with our neighbors...losing their O coordinator (and trying to recruit ours ) losing their line coach and the bulk of both their lines....don't you think Camden has a good shot at least??...I know Mansfield always finds a way to win and they never rebuild just reload, but I believe this is the Lion's year thumb

Neither Milan nor Lexington have any room to say anything about sportsmanship...Between the Milan players and coaches and some of the Lexington fans (but not the team as a whole) neither one of you are going to be winning any sportsmanship medals....you are both very good teams with alot of great athletes so you should just let it be played out on the field. Appreciate the rivalry ON THE FIELD that you have and leave the name calling out of it. Good luck to both of you ....straighten up your acts and represent 11AA well!

Congrats to the Lady Lions of Camden!!....district 11AA champs!....winning the last 10 out of 11 games..(the one they lost was to AAA Rossview) the ladies are on a roll going into the region tourney in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year! good luck and we'll all be rooting you on! thumb GO LIONS!

IMO travel ball has made all the difference in the quality of softball. The west has just started having an abundance of summer travel ball....some of the bigger towns have had it a while but the more rural locations have not really got into the major travel ball arena until the last 5 years or so....and its beginning to show in the improving quality of talent that is coming up the ranks....How many west TN teams have 8th graders as the aces??...quite a few and many have the younger girls as the power positions in their batting line-ups also...why? IMO because these girls have been exposed to a higher level of competition than their older counterparts....in a few years talent levels between the West and the rest of the state will even out and HOPEFULLY the west will see more support from their high schools and middle schools...because as of right now very few school's softball programs west of the river have much if any administrative support.

Other than Alcoa, Westview will bring the most to the table from everyone's top 10...Camden has played well this spring and some may be underestimating the talent left on the team but they will still have to prove themselves....Huntingdon has lost the bulk of their lines and with their coaching situation and not to mention being moved to the toughest region in the state, this could be a long year for them OR they could rise to the occasion and be in the boro come Dec.....Milan will have a tough row to hoe this year but will be a worthy opponent anyway.....but Westview has the best shot (if they can stay healthy) to be representing the west come Dec. We'll know for sure after Camden, Huntingdon, and Westview battle it out early in the season....good luck to all this season and lets hurry up and get football season started!! thumb

I also looked at this site....but the record is 11 for both teams....Coalfield has the record for homers by 1 team in 1 game at 10....the record is 11 for both teams in 1 game...and thanks I mis-typed, it was 58 in a season for Jeremy Reed thumb

Chester co moved up to 3a and Riverside was alot better than their record showed...Lets give credit where credit is due! thumb

Keck is now tied for 5th in # of homers in 1 game....the record for a season is 24 by Anthony Whitson of the 1987 Uncoi co team....Camden and Lexington together are tied for 3rd in number of homers per game with 7..(the record is 11) pretty impressive thumb...BTW Todd Helton had 38 HRs in his HS career...the record is 53 by a kid from Lookout Valley.

It was wild for sure....Keck pitched also but Camden bats were just cranking off of him....Even with Camden's small field 6 of the 7 were no doubters at any field...Keck's last homer bounced off of the top of the fence to barely get over but his others were big shots...Markham nearly had three...if he had pulled it to left it would have went yard but missed by less than 2 feet into right....there was lots of power displayed in Benton Co last nite!

This was a great win for our seniors who've had the Lexington monkey lifted off their backs!...glad to see those bats come alive boys like we've all known they could!...and to never give up even when they were down 6-0 we are so proud of you....it was an awesome game!!...lets see those bats again tonite against Henry Co!...GO LIONS!

I was not calling you unintelligent because of your lack of knowledge of human anatomy....I was saying that you needed to come up with a better excuse for not having girls on a football field....you being uncomfortable is not a good enough reason...if a girl can hang with the guys through all of the same practices and can be a contributor to the team then let her play....I'm sure the first coed cheerleading squad coach was uncomfortable with that process but now look how that turned out...I'm know that many male cheerleaders are as good or better athletes and could bench press more than many football players....Although I did sound harsh when I made that statement to you I was not meaning to call you names or anything....its a matter of perception....its the idea that all women are good for is making babies (which is kinda what your initial statement sounded like) that most women take offense to.....now would a women ever be able to contribute as a lineman???...no...most guys can't even contribute in that way....but women can contribute in the skill positions...its been proven. As far as having a women's football team its sounds great to me...but until that happens (which will be NEVER) women should be allowed to show that they belong on the field too.

If you are going to be sexist then at least be intelligent....young men walk on the field everyday knowing they are taking the risk of maybe not being able to father children due to injury and that is the very LEAST worry....what about internal injury???.....what about the very real possibilities of spinal cord injury with paralysis...or head injury with permanent disability....or even God forbid death!!!...these things happen every season but I don't hear anyone saying that young men shouldn't go out for football to avoid these types of injuries....to say that some injury on the field is going to cause a women to be infertile shows that you know very little about human anatomy....men are much more vulnerable to this type of injury than women....and as far as the sexual harrassment issue...it also happens everyday in all walks of life not by just men but by women also. Does that mean that we have to segregate women and men???....no, laws have been made to take care of the problems....any coach who can't control their players has no business being a coach...football is all about discipline and respect and any coach who hasn't instilled that in his players has no right to the title of "Coach."

I hate to break the news to you but not all schools provide alternative sports for girls....what about the schools like mine (camden) that have no other fall sport?....I definately think that a girl should have a right to play football if she thinks she's got what it takes...I'm all for girls being required to try-out and do EVERYTHING that her male counterparts are required to do...there should be no slack given or let up by her opponents....although its sad but true most girls don't hang with the program after a few full contact practices, that still should not be a reason to keep a school from giving any female the right to try to make the team...I grew up in Chicago and although I was not allowed to try out for the team when I was in school (the case went all the way to the state supreme court)some years after I graduated several school systems allowed females to participate and they ended up being true contributors to their teams.

Well no one from this side if the river is counting Riverside out...we KNOW what kind of schedule ya'll have played ....what do you think will be the Panthers offensive strength??...and who is coming out next year to help you?...are they upperclassmen....how's the defensive personnel looking?.....I can't wait for August to get here! Who do you open the season up with?

They're going to pick Camden as homecoming??? ....not a smart move for your poor seniors!....but anyway you're right a new coach ( if he's the right coach) and a new attitude can make all the difference in the world for a team...Believe me we know!
