  1. 2000 was a long time ago. Funny how things that happened 11 years ago stay with a program, isn't it? Even though none of these girls, or parents were really around then. 1. It's too cold for bugs tonight. 2. I've seen Coffee Co. get hosed as much at home as the visitor. Umpires suck. all of them. And these will NOT be from here anyway, you oughta know better. 3. I didn't know noisemakers weren't common? 4. ... 5. Yes, because Coffee County fans have been so violent towards opponents and their fans / parents? What a joke. Have a safe trip coming up from Soddy. See everyone tonight at 7. Dress warm. ... Wear your RED
  2. I don't see Tullahoma beating Siegel again this year. Siegel is still just as talented if not more than last year's team. Tullahoma is a fraction of what it was last year. Siegel wins 6-2. Columbia and Riverdale is a toss up. The kid for Riverdale threw an awful lot of innings on Saturday and Tuesday. He will have rest but be interesting to see if it affects him any.
  3. I think this looks about right. Only chance Cookeville has is if Goolsby plays. She been out with mono for 6 or 7 games now I think.
  4. Who is WV playing for third? Trying to see who the other team is.
  5. http://manchestertimes.com/news/index.asp Lee Davis takes the job.
  6. I'm not at all familiar with what newspaper you are talking about or who the sports writer is you are referring to. But let me give you some perspective from a small town paper from a former sports editor turned editor. It is tough. Pay is low. VERY low. And often-times these are one-man sports departments and they are asked to cover high school boys and girls, middle schools, elementary and youth leagues, wrestling, swimming and everything else that might be going on - including non-sports events at times. Like I said. I don't really know your situation. But before you call someone pitiful, consider the situations.
  7. You are putting words in my mouth. I did not say that Coffee County did not want a winning program that kids can be proud of and get involved in. Maybe he would do a good job. But as I said before, it is hard for ANY coach to have success at Coffee County. It's been that way for the program as a whole since its beginning. Very few have had success, besides L.D. Carden and the late Red Jarrell when they were there in the 50s and early 60s. But the conversation doesn't matter. Becuase whether he would do good or not, he isn't coming here. We have three candidates. Getting behind whoever is chosen from the get-go would get things at least started on the right foot.
  8. Wow that is kinna' bad that only two coaches showed up!
  9. It's high school athletics. Winning is important. And even with a lot of the other intangibles that are sought after, sure, winning and losing is the bottom line because that is the most visible to the blinders we wear in Manchester so often. But there are so many other factors that are involved and I'm sure you can realize that. Mac McCurry is not a good fit for the CC program.
  10. There isn't enough room in the weightroom for all of his baggage.
  11. Usually, coaches with success are not jumping at the idea to coach a program with a lifetime winning percentage around 37 percent - dating back to 1922. A program that is 50-100 in the last 15 years, give or take a couple. That is not a slap at the current players or the staff, simply the facts. Please, feel free to share these names with us who have experienced success and are willing to come to this program? A program that lacks community support and money when compared to other programs in the same area. For the record, from the little I know, I really like the candidates that we have now. Especially two of them.
  12. Here are three people that are being considered right now. Tim Taylor - former Marion County coach Shelbyville OC - I forget his name. Lavergne DC - I forget his name. Just what I hearing ...
  13. I think at least three on the current staff have applied, with a fourth probably applying. The college coach I'm assuming you're talking about is Doug Greene, former assistant football and head baseball at Coffee. He is coaching DB's at Carson Newman. He applied and got an interview when Eddie was hired a few years ago. I've also heard a coach from Shelbyville (don't know his name) has applied and the D-coordinator from LaVergne. Kinna conflicting information about Sam Melton, former O-Coordinator at Tullahoma. I've heard he has applied and they are interested. Then heard he said he didn't want it. So who knows there. Guess we will see soon enough.
  14. ha yeah he is a recruiting machine at Signal. But at Coffee, I'd say that's a little misleading. Jake came with his dad Eddie, who came with Price to take over the defense. Blake Tinsley transfered to Coffee and was an impact player but his family is from Manchester and Brandon Anderson, who never really played because of an injury, moved to Manchester because his whole family was here. The only player without any ties to Manchester who transfered here was Michael Goins, who was pretty good. But in total, three transfers who picked up a lot of playing time in five years? Hardly a recruiting machine.
  15. Sure, probably had something to do with it. The trip had a lot more to do with it, though. We were glad to get out of 8-AAA and lose the 2 hour haul to Lawrenceburg. Just isn't a fast way to get there. Then the football team goes and schedules games. I'm sure Lawrenceburg folks feel the same about the trip to Manchester. It just is a 2 hour trip that seems like 3. Now, back to Tullahoma. Let's not hijack its thread.
  16. There is going to be a lot of in-house fighting for this.
  17. Tullahoma is in-county competition and had two manchester players starting for them last year, including qb.
  18. Coffee County Central football coach Eddie Nunley resigned this morning.
  19. The better the weather stays, the better chances Tullahoma has against a team like Lawrence County. Tullahoma won't be slinging around passes when the weather dips (White County does not count). Plus, Tullahoma has some good athletes. Mid 70s and sunny Friday. But Lawrence County still wins. Lawrence County 20, Tullahoma 17.
  20. I can't believe the thrower kid is basically relegated to special teams. Its obvious watching johnson is playing for the future, but he could win some games this year I would think with thrower and northcutt in the backfield. Good win for coffee county tonight. Murray ran the ball hard. Opening kickoff return set the tone.
  21. About equal talent has been displayed so far. So I think you take the team that has dominated this series the last 10 years. Coffee wins 21-17.
  22. Any time a parent has the freedom to come on the field at will after a coach, no matter WHAT the reason, there is a problem. I expect serious action to be taken this week by administration. A parent has no place on the sidelines during a game to yell at, or confront, a coach in any way. The parent should have been arrested on the spot. Strong examples need to be made.
  23. They have not previously due to fear of litigation ( I think. Someone else may know more about that), but with Tullahoma reviving its testing I hope Coffee County follows suit. A coach at CHS tried to push for it a few years back but was shot down at the top. But I think that would be different now. It's a great thing.
  24. Sorry. Sorry. I have been put in my place. Obviously, I wasn't thinking. All bow to the mighty Tullahoma. I can't believe a dumb fellow from Manchester like me is even allowed on these boards. I better get back to my mop bucket.
