OMG... Really? I just can't let this go without comment. I find it amazing Mr. Wilcutt that you reference unresolved anger issues, sportsmanship and positive experience.. they're just high school kids. Humiliate? You're opposed to all of this? Calling someone out? How about that! Confrontation? "For the love of the game... Purest motivation" It would be wonderful if your actions actually supported your comments. Tell me sir, why you yourself felt the need to take action and lie about a fabricated story (something that never happen) to support a lying coach who used you as a pawn/scapegoat for the purpose of causing harm to a young man because of his dislike of a parent who was right. You supported an idiot without any regard to the adverse affect it would have on a child. You sir are a double-talking coward who is a "suck-up". You are only interested in how you can do something that will benefit your son's playing time and the perceived image that some in the community may have of you as an active support, thus inflating your insecure ego. Actions speak louder than your self-serving comments sir. When you lie to cause harm to a young man because of some unfounded personal vendetta you (or a coach) has against a parent based on an unfounded nonexistent reason... well that tell me what type of person you really are. Don't get on here and act like your some great supporter of children and athletes in this community. You, individuals like you, along with a select few coaches have done more damage to athletics in this community than some screaming parent in the stands ever could. Personally, I've helped to guide more than 16 young men on to college scholarships doing something that I helped them learn for more than 15 years of their lives. To this day, there is not a day goes by that I don't hear from a one of them. That's a lot more than what I can say about any of the coaches that I've questioned over the past six or so years in this area. Outspoken? Maybe! But on point and driven for the children... Yes, that's me. I can put my head on my pillow every night knowing I've always done right by the young athletes in this community... you sir cannot, no matter how much you spout your B.S. above, the fact remains that you conscience will be a constant reminder and someday you will pay a dear price when you're standing face to face with the almighty one. The old proverb says, Revenge is a dish best served cold. It's starting to feel a little chilly.

We would all love to see a coach last longer than a year. The problem is that the pool of potential candidates is slim and the selection process is poor at best. Administration waits too long to make a decision and quality candidates quickly exit because the money isn't there to make it worthwhile. It's a combination that does not favor well for the kids. In regards to parents... coaches should learn to stay true to their word, honor the system of seniority, create a competitive environment the encourages hard work, dedication and team spirit. Base decisions on performance rather than perception and most importantly... Keep accurate stats, develop a true rotation system that garners development of all positions on the field with the idea that every game is a learning experience. Develop a schedule the offers true challenge and doesn't inflate your win-loss record and give yourself a false sense of talent level. It's hard to come back down to reality when facing a formality opponent. It's easy to be critical from the outside looking in... I've heard all of the complaints of former coaches about how its all the parents fault... but the reality is that if you're doing the job right most of the time the parents will be happy with the outcome. Don't take is seriously or skirt the efforts and dedication, lie and talk out of both sides of your mouth and you're going to pay dearly and usually you'll be looking for a new place to play in the dirt! Most coaches are short lived at Harpeth because they were really only planning on being there until something better came along. Until the school takes the programs seriously, the problem will continue to rear it's ugly head and the frustration level of the parents to have to pay thousands of dollars every year in player fees will continue to complain. I could have paid my house off with the player fees and donations I've paid over the past 10 years. The bottom line is... when you ask so much of your players and parents... much will be expected. When you don't live up to your "sales pitch" when you arrive, they will quickly call your bluff!

I understand... I was merely just listing the official ruling based on the information that was provided to me. I don't have a dog in the hunt either and was only offering the information based on the facts as presented.

Nope... Sorry! Read the entire RULING... Not just the part after the completion of the 5th inning. The reason why I bolded the section that I was referring to. It supersedes the previous statements because Harpeth was the HOME TEAM. The ENTIRE rule applies, not just parts of it that satisfy what you WANT to happen. The rules are clear and Harpeth would get the win because they were the HOME team and had the lead at the time after the 5th inning when the game was called for weather.

Under NFHS Rules - Harpeth would win as they were the home team and 5 innings had been completed. Rule 4-3, Article 3 states that "If weather or darkness interferes with play so that the games is called (ended) by the umpire, it's a regulation game: a. If five full innings have been played, or if the home team has scored an equal or greater number of runs in four or four and a fraction turns at bat than the visiting team has scored in five turns at bat: or b. if play has gone beyond five full innings. If the game is called then the teams have not had an equal number of completed turns at bat, the score shall be the same as it was at the end of the last completed inning; except if the home team in its half of the incomplete inning, score a run (or runs) which equals or exceeds the opponent's score, the final score shall be as recorded when the game is called. So, with that being said. Harpeth would get the win.

Bragging about winning a 36-0 game in 4 innings just makes one look like a huge one! Scoring 13 runs in the first inning and keeping your varsity squad in for a 2nd inning to tally another 14 on top of that.. come on!... that will come back to bite Harpeth in the years ahead. Everyone in the District knows that Cheatham is way down on the diamond. Harpeth already had 10-run the team the night before... scoring 13 out of the gate and then leaving your JV guys on the bench for another two innings before putting them on the field... well, the program will suffer in the end. You'll see! Taking shots and running... well we know who is good at that now don't we Mr. Cutt. I'm sick of the lack of the respect of the game itself. Honor the game, respect your opponent and play hard every day! I don't see anyone as a supporter who does so much to break down so many for their own personal vendetta or personal gain! It never pays off in the end... and the kids are the ones who suffer. It's a pitiful example of what could be a successful baseball program! Character, Integrity and Moral Discipline. As my son says... Some have it... Others don't!

Amen to that! TSSAA really needs to get this scheduling thing down to a more logical state. Baseball pre-season is underway and players are still on the hardwood. For A-AA schools I would guess that many teams have players doing multiple sports. Is there a reason why we have to start in February? Could we not push thing back to March and actually give players the necessary time to get arms ready. It's a matter of a few weeks that TSSAA is forcing many kids to choose between sports and ultimately the athletic programs as these smaller schools suffer because of the burn-out factor.

The issue was related to a school that was not permitted to travel because of the anticipated bad weather in their area. District 11AA covers a lot of ground and it's not worth the risk when transporting students on school buses that don't do well on ice covered roads.

August 22, 2011-October 30, 2011 Wrestlers are permitted to weight train, conditions and use open facilities. This includes and permits them to participate in OPEN tournaments on an individual basis. Coaches are not permitted to "coach" but ARE ALLOWED to serve in a supervisory capacity role. The tournament you are referencing was a "free play" pre-season warm up event. Under the letter of the rule coaches were permitted to be at the event, just not allowed to coach. COACHING means... offering instruction, teaching or direction... this was not done or allowed. A large number of individuals that attended the event are not even coaches, but former wrestlers and supports of various programs. Coaches did not coach their individual teams and NO ONE was in violation of the rules. DEAD PERIOD is not a "CATCH ALL" term. DEAD PERIOD is what is says... DEAD! I'm not a coach... not a parent... but I was at this event supporting the kids. Get over yourself, learn the rules and come back when you want to talk about wrestling and what really matters. There is one thing that I've always loved about wrestling... you can talk whatever talk you want, you can blame whomever you want but the facts are this... if you don't bring it to the mat when the time comes... you'll go back home crying.

There are other times to take vacations outside of the so-called dead period. My boys have played multiple sports and we never had a problem scheduling our family vacations and holidays. Maybe a little creative working-around, but we always managed to make it work. While it is difficult, it's not impossible to accomplish. I'm pretty certain that coaches are clear about their expectations prior to practices and the start of the season. If you don't want to accept the terms, then don't sign up to play. If you do... then don't complain about the system.

FROM THE TENNESSEAN: Major sanctions have been leveled against Montgomery Bell Academy by the state’s high school athletic governing organization for violations of recruiting rules and the tuition and financial aid rule. After a five-month investigation, the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has placed the school on probation for two years, vacated the state football championship the school won in 2007 and the basketball championship it won in 2010. Additionally, the school is required to forfeit a number of wins that came about when ineligible players were used, and TSSAA is requiring MBA to repay tournament and playoff revenues totaling $46,952.33.

I wish they would go to all wood bats. Games would become more interesting as hitters would learn to actually hit and not just fling a bat and hit for average just because they made contact. Pitchers duals would increase as well... sounds like an idea!

The only trash talking that's been happening on here has been by you. You should spend some time reviewing your post. You're the trash talking indivdiual who started throwing names around. Trust me... I have no problem saying anything to anyones face... if I said it here, I would gladly repeat it in person. Now you want to throw out WARNINGS about being careful. I would suggest that you re-read your post. You started the name calling, back biting comments... and I'm not the only one that you've taken your shots with... I would practice what you are preaching. While I'm outspoken about issues when kids are treated unfairly, I'm not a person who is looking to cause trouble. I didn't create the issues at CCHS. I just commented on them. I also don't back down and am more than willing to take things to whatever extreme needed to make a point. Idiot, Moron, etc... whatever word you want to use now is fine. I have thick skin and not affected by your B.S... In the past you've found my comments profound and praised the oponion. I just find it laughable that now, when the issues at CCHS were called out that I all of the sudden become a moron and idiot. We all understand why you didn't want anyone busting the chops of CCHS... but that doesn't mean nothing should have been said. It's time to move on from this. I'm not going to continue to get into this B.S. and your continued references to me on each one of your post is just an example of your desire to keep stirring things up. I'm just glad to see a coach who has character and integrity! Most coaches today have a one-track mind. They put stock in "who they think" are the most talented with little attention to building a "team" as a whole. Spending to much time on one or two players, who are always placed on a pedestal, will only break your team down as a whole. It make you look like an ####. You loose the respect and dedication of your team. Coaches that win championship win them because they build a team and pay attention to what works and what is not. There is a system or pecking order of what is earned. Players should be given opportunity to earn a starting spot... not given a starting spot they haven't earned. Too many times do I see spots given when they were never earned. This breaks down the potential of the team as a whole. While a coach may think they are smarter, you will never be smarter than the players sitting and watching. They know what you're doing, they know where they are talent wise and they know if things are not on the up and up with a coach. If they do not buy into what a coach is trying to accomplish and have lost respect for the coach, then the team will ultimately fail. I actually had a coach tell me the other day that he didn't give a "S*#T" about stats... that he was going to play who is wanted to. Wow! Somehow he thinks he knows better than what the stat book is telling him. PERCEPTION OVER PERFORMANCE? How successful do you think this coach is going to be? Coaches with these sort of philosophies should pushed out off the field and off the sidelines. They do little to build a program or community support. Respect the sport and honor the code. You'll get more out of your players and you'll build a program that kids will get excited about and dedicated themselves. To many times do I see talented kids walk the halls of schools and avoid sports all together because of bad coaches. A coaches mantra should be to INSPIRE, MOTIVATE and TEACH... No where in there should it be to DICTATE! It's not a Middle School or High School coaches job to choose who "he thinks" will be a college prospect... leave that up to the player. Like stated before... A starting spot is EARNED by putting forth the effort needed, the dedication to defend and the attitude to give what you can to the team. I heard it during the UK vs. Auburn games last night. Calipari said that Kidd-Gilcrest was his best player on the team... he may not be the best shooter or the best ball handler but because of his hustle, determination and all-out performance he was the best player on the team in his view. Coaches... look at his record and then look at yours. If you're not winning ball games and you have players who go all out sitting on your sidelines then maybe its because your line up is based on perception and not performance.
