  1. Does anyone have the results of the 3 boys games in 14AAA this past Saturday? The results aren't in the Commercial Appeal nor on the message board anywhere.
  2. Congrats to Mitchell! After all of the turmoil they've been through this past week, they deserved something good to happen.
  3. Hi Galilee Found your post interesting. Perhaps you and Mitchell should be careful throwing the term "arrogant" around. Seems you've been crowing for years on here. I have not seen Mitchell or BTW play this year so I wasn't trying to diss anyone. I merely made a prediction based on the fact that BTW is undefeated and Mitchell has lost close games to Union City, Manassas, (both A schools) and Haywood and Bolivar (both AA schools). I'll put my house aginst your house anytime. Good Luck in the post season and I hope your health continues to improve.
  4. Legend Why do you continually concede the AAA state championship to Ridgeway??? Kirby beat them and they escaped with an overtime one point win at Raleigh Egypt on a missed call by the official. Seems like to me they have their work cut out for them just GETTING OUT! Might want to expand your thinking just a bit!!! As for BTW, don't concede the AA crown to them either. They literally play noone with a legit chance of beating them during their league play and only mitchell can contest them as far as athletes goes in memphis. They will host the substate due to lack of competition and BTW is a hard place for a West Tenn. team to come in and beat them. Bolivar, Haywood and Dyer Co. all have a lot of tradition and experience in the state so it will not be a cakewalk for anybody. Manassas is dominate with the addition of the Westside players from last year that WENT TO THE STATE already BEFORE they got to Manassas. UC will host and be in the state also so it could be a showdown between these two. The state championship probably belongs to one of these teams.
  5. All Memphis and Shelby County games are cancelled.
  6. Another point about this list is that 15 of the nominees are from West Tennessee and 12 of the 22 are from Memphis. Adds more fuel to the West Tennessee mystique.
  7. All of them are outstanding players but i agree...Eliot is the only one that has signed with DUKE! That usually means you're on track to be a McDonald's All-American. Rarely do they pick two from the same state...although it's possible.
  8. They might have been there scouting the referees!!! From what I hear, memphis teams have to fear them more than the opponents.
  9. TraderB I was also at the game and have viewed the tape several times. To say you "lied" on purpose is a bit strong, but the tape definitely proves you are mistaken. Even the official admits blowing the call. We've had to let it go...I suggest you do the same. Ridgeway has a good team this year. They have a chance at a state title. To do that they will have to get by Kirby, Germantown, Wooddale and White Station in the district tournament and then Central, Whitehaven and maybe Fairley in the region tournament. Then a substate game with Ral-Egypt, Craigmont, Bolton or Liberty. Nobody has it easy and it's up for grabs. IF Ridgeway and RE do indeed end up in the substate...we can continue this debate as to who is the best team.
  10. Trader B I usually read your posts about Memphis basketball and agree with you for the most part (even though you are DEFINITELY biased toward Ridgeway), in this case however, your post is a boldfaced lie! The game tape actually PROVES BEYOND A DOUBT that the last shot left the Ral-Egypt player's hand BEFORE the buzzer and should have counted. The tape shows the ball leaving his hand, then you hear the referee's whistle and THEN you hear the horn. The outer official (who is supposed to be responsible for making that call) signals the shot good and is overruled by the under official. Neither official checked with the clock operator before running off the floor. The problem was that the clock had been programmed and used for a wrestling match the night before and did not show the tenths of a second that were ticking off when the clock reached 0:00. The same officials refereed the girls game, and when the horn did not sound at 0:00 in that game assumed there was a problem with the horn. THEY ASKED NOONE ABOUT IT! When the under official saw the clock at 0:00 he blew his whistle and waived off the shot, hightailling it to the dressing room. The horn sounded after the whistle and CAN be heard over the noise. That same official admitted later that he blew the call. Irregardless of the outcome, these two teams have pluses and minuses. I put them equal and the rematch in the substate could go either way. You can bet the Ral-Egypt fans are looking forward to it.
  11. It ain't braggin if you can do it...it's just plain fact! UC 22-0? Sez it all to me.
  12. If I'm not mistaken, Marti Sisco played for Kenton in late 50's and early 60's-then went on to coach there for many years and was one of the most successful coaches in the state while there. I remember playing in that ooold cracker box gym back when we had the county tournament there. The other county teams quit letting UC play in the tournament cause we were so dominant every year. In 1962, OCCHS was built and all of the small schools consolidated except Kenton. Don't remember when Marti took over as coach.
  13. pitbullone What do all of the numbers beside the teams mean? And, is this a compilation of all classes? 1 Ridgeway (Memphis) League: AAA District 15 29.9 14.1 13-0 2-0 -- 2 Antioch League: AAA District 12 28.7 16.5 10-3 6-0 +1 3 Union City League: A District 14 27.9 5.6 16-0 9-0 +1 4 Howard Tech (Chattanooga) League: AA District 6 27.9 9.9 7-0 3-0 +4 5 Bearden (Knoxville) League: AAA District 4 27.7 10 14-1 3-1 -3 6 Raleigh-Egypt (Memphis) League: AAA District 14 27 18.1 10-3 0-0 -1 7 Nashville Christian Advancement Acade... 14. From Raleigh Egypt: Moe Miller-Ga Tech; Lawrence Kinnard-UAB; Caleb Brown-Austin Peay
  15. Both of which teams? Ral-Egypt never plays in the MLK Tourney.
  16. Raleigh Egypt and Ridgeway are equal. Game went into overtime and Ral-Egypt hit a shot at the buzzer which referee disallowed because he wasn't listening for the horn. Never asked time keeper, just ran off the floor. Does Ral-Egypt feel cheated...you bet we do. Are we looking forward to the rematch...can't wait!!!
  17. The games will be held at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of memphis. It is in the center of campus and is where the Lady Tigers play their home games. Seats between 3500-4000.
  18. As you know I only learned of your condition recently and have prayed for your speedy and complete recovery since. Sounds as if God has listened to the many prayers of all who know you and He is by your side. Best wishes to you in this difficult time, and if I can help in any way please don't hesitate to let me know. In Friendship Jumpshot
  19. Just how experienced are Bolivar and Dyer Co. compared to Liberty?
  20. Just curious...what did Giles Co. fans think of Ral-Egypt in the SportsMed Shootout this past week?
  21. It wasn't clear from your article or post whether the victim actually attended the ball game or whether she was even on the campus itself. In Memphis, we experience this kind of thing also. Most of the time the violence has nothing to do with the game being played or with the school itself, but because it is reported that way, people tend to not go to ballgames fearful of being shot. The media glamorizes any violence around schools these days and the public assumes every student and every game is going to be this way. Random acts such as this have destroyed public attendance at athletic events in Memphis.
  22. Don't worry DC fans...you don't have to count that loss on your record...Liberty doesn't believe in counting Hall of Fame losses on their record as evidenced by their refusal last year to count their loss to Raleigh Egypt! All year they claimed to have never lost to another Tennessee team, so you haven't yet either by their standards.
  23. Before it's over with it will be 6'10" , Arnett Moultrie from Raleigh Egypt. He committed to UTEP in this early signing period. He is only a 16 yr. old senior who will turn 17 at the end of this month. An athlete who is just now realizing he is the biggest thing in the gym. Has been lanquishing at Trezevant for the last three years and is now improving daily. Runs the floor, rebounds, dunks EVERYTHING, and can handle and shoot.
  24. Liberty should be very good this year. They are in 7AAA region which includes Craigmont, Raleigh Egypt, Bolton, Cordova, JCM, etc. Hamilton, Ridgeway, White Station, Wooddale, Kirby, etc. make up Region 8AAA. Only 2 teams out of this conglomeration will make it to state. By the way, Craigmont was probably without Terrico White on Saturday since he is still playing football. He makes a difference in their makeup.
