  1. Roper-yes, Cutter-no. No doubt Cutter can shoot it. But pretty? Not by a long shot (no pun intended).
  2. If seven states use a shot clock, I must assume that 43 do not. That speaks volumes to me. I also agree with Dawg when he says, "who decides what is basketball and what is not." Just because it doesn't suit your eye certainly doesn't mean it isn't basketball. I also do not believe the purpose of high school basketball is to prepare kids for college basketball. It is to prepare for life. For the few who do play college basketball, the transition from no shot clock to a shot clock would be virtually nonexistent. The players do as they are coached.
  3. Your right, Hoolie, I was just looking for a fight. I don't even know Edwards. I'm gonna drop it because it's obvious to me that you either: a) know your wrong and are making up outrageous statements in a feeble attempt to rationalize, or really believe it is okay to publicly and openly blame a defeat on a teammate and peer. Either way, I don't see a way out of this. We just simply don't see eye to eye on the way to treat others. From reading several of your posts throughout b-ball season and now tennis, I would really love to see a teammate call YOU out on CoachT. I wonder if it would still be "normal conservation". Somehow, I doubt it. As for you, Na Supp, why don't you let your daddy, hoolie, handle his own fights.
  4. ................and then you get on a VERY widely read public forum and say "Edwards fell apart." sorry, I'm laughing again!
  5. Calling your teammate a "choker" is constructive criticism?...................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... ..................................., sorry for the pause, I just couldn't stop laughing!
  6. Wasn't mad then, not mad now. I'm just commenting on a pattern that seems to follow the typical Siegel player or follower. I actually find the consistant arrogance of Hooli' and others amusing and get real entertainment out it.
  7. .............and another thought. I sure would hate to be YOUR teammate, Hooligan. You blame Edwards for the defeat of his doubles team. You basically called him a choker. Now that has to be good for team morale. Dirk Nowitzki could take lessons from you on how to call out a teammate!
  8. I wouldn't know which end of the racket you use to hit the ball with, therefore, I probably would not be seeded very high. I do, however, know about fair play. Unfortunately (I reckon'), I am old school where credit was given when credit was due. I appreciate some of the things I read on the recent posts. I don't disagree that the Siegel team may have been better than the Lebanon team. They may win 9 out of every 10 times the two teams meet. But this is the 'one' and Lebanon deservedly won. Their effort warrants all the credit. They should not have to read about "Edwards falling apart." Maybe, just maybe, Edwards fell apart because Lebanon took him apart. Possibly?
  9. Your a prime example of why nobody outside of Murfreesboro pulls for Siegel (except to lose). Your arrogance becomes too old too fast. Again, your reply gives absolutely no credit to Lebanon. Did they do anything right at all (besides beat your boys, that is)?
  10. Gosh Hooligan, after reading your post, I felt thought it was basketball season all over again. Just like ol' times with your not giving Lebanon any credit for their doubles' win. Do your opponents ever win, or do you guys just lose?
  11. Whew, I'm tired of "he said, she said." You girls need to settle down! Speaking of girls, who are the top girls in our district? I hear Blackman, Oakland and Lebanon have the top 3 girls. Can anyone confirm or correct that? Thanks.
  12. No question Lebanon lost alot, but they have alot returning. Donald will be hard to replace but 6'5 Brian Henderson has proven he can be a solid big man. Nick Payne returns at the shooting guard and he made the all-district, all-district tournament and all-region tournament team. He is a player. Britton Winfree returns as a power forward and can be as good as anyone in the league. John Presley is back and he was the leading 3-point shooter in the district last year while coming off the bench. Moving into the starting lineup should only increase his numbers. The next spot will be between Marc Hancock, a tremendous defender and rebounder and Ken Walton, a tremendous offensive player. I think you can say Lebanon is reloading, not rebuilding. I see Siegel winning the district but I don't think it will be as easy as everyone thinks. Losing Ross will hurt. I believe 2nd is up for grabs with Lebanon, Cookeville, White Co., Oakland and Riverdale. Although Warren Co. will be better, 7th will be a good finish for them. If what I read in an earlier post is true (Wade going to Oakland), Blackman is destined for last.
  13. Bud is the Head Coach at Central and Campbell, his father, is his assistant. Campbell is a little bit more than competent. When he retired from Lebanon, he was 2nd all-time in Tennessee high school girls basketball wins behind on Jim Smiddy of Bradley Central. He may still be second. Although his state championship came in the 1/2 court 6 on 6 days, he was still highly successful at the current full court game. This is certainly not the case. Wilson Central has talent that will match up with anyone. Kellie Gassie is as good as any girl in the game. She could play for some boys teams. Fellow senior Kellie O'Connell is their floor leader and great 3-point shooter. Their 2 posts, Sare Williams and Tierny Jenkins are both young and solid. They shut down Clark and McFarlin of Mt. Juliet which means they are capable of shutting anybody down. They do have great coaching, but lack of talent is not a problem. I see maybe the best 1st round game of the state tournament right here.
  14. Nice post, 7AAwatcher. I can't say I disagree with what you say, but I can't agree with everything you say, either. I was in attendance for the game you mention above. There was a discrepancy in freethrows but it was because Cookeville had to send Lebanon to the foul line in the 4th quarter to get possession of the ball. You see it all time. The team that is behind on the scoreboard almost always has a huge disadvantage in freethrows becasue of the "unintentional-intentional" foul. I wasn't at this game but because White Co. won, I would have to assume the same situation occured here as in the Lebanon game. Cookeville simply sent White Co. to the line to get the ball back. Because of the first 2 points you make, I must assume you are a Cookeville fan. Well that kinda nullifies this quote. There are fans that see every call as right and wrong. The officiating did not seem to be top notch, but it did go both ways. This is a great point. Coaches and players ARE held accountable, not to officials, but to their own administrators and coaches, respectively. I have yet see or hear about an official being fired or even suspended. That is not accountability. Referrees have to fear some kind of evaluation process. Not being able to officiate the state tournament is not punishment. I don't think officials cheat. I do think some are weak. In a game I saw the other night, one team had a 10-2 advantage in fouls called. I mentioned to my buddy that we should not worry about it because the fouls would catch up. They did. Did one team suddenly stop fouling and the other suddenly start fouling? Did the officials feel the pressure to even out the fouls? I don't know, I just know that these situations invariably even themselves out. That all being said, the officiating is as bad as I have ever seen. It is a bad sign when the first thing you do at a game is look to see who is referring. BUT, that is what I do. One team on this same night as above had shot 3 or 4 offensive rebounds from the paint. They kept rebounding and trying to tip it in. The ball was in constant motion. A whistle blows, "3 second violation." WHAT? I'm just watching, not really interested in who wins, but that is just not knowing the rules. And this was in a regional tournament, supposedly your best referrees. To me offiicals can do virtually anything they want and there is not one thing a coach can to about it. Coaches have no recourse. Sure, they can blackball an official for a homegame, but what fool would do that? You'll certainly see them on the road, and I do believe some officials are vindictive. I don't know the answer, but when officials want to be seen, they have lost their effectiveness. Nothing is better than to NOT be able to recall who referreed the game.
