  8. With Dekalb Co. defeating Macon. Co. 33-23 ; Greenbrier still makes the playoffs as the number 4 seed, and Sycamore does not make the playoffs.
  9. The following link is to the official TSSAA playoff possibilites for all 3A regions / teams : http://www.tssaa.org/2007Champions/StateFo...bilities.htm#3A

  11. Since the district and region realignments two years ago, the 11-AA team records in district league play show the complete and total dominance of the Sycamore and Harpeth programs in this district. District 11-AA Team Regular Season District Records For Past Two Seasons Rank Team 05-06 Season 06-07 Season Combined (1) Sycamore 13-1 12-2 25-3 ( 2 losses were to Harpeth) (24 of 25 Sycamore wins were by a double digit margin) (2) Harpeth 11-3 12-2 23-5 ( 2 losses were to Sycamore) (21 of 23 Harpeth wins were by a double digit margin) (3) Stewart Co. 9-5 8-6 17-11 (4) Cheatham Co. 6-8 10-4 16-12 (5) Creekwood 7-7 8-6 15-13 (6) Waverly 5-9 2-12 7-21 (7) Fairview 3-11 2-12 5-23 (8) Montgomery Central 2-12 2-12 4-24 Note : Both of these seasons the district tournament finals have been Sycamore vs. Harpeth (each won by Harpeth), and also they are the only District 11-AA teams to win a game in region tournament play the past two seasons. Sycamore has won a regional tournament game both of the previous two seasons, and Harpeth won a regional tournament game this past season. 2007-2008 Outlook Harpeth and Sycamore should continue to dominate the district, with the rest of the teams muddling their way through the season. (1) Harpeth : They have the talent and depth to be an outstanding basketball team this season. Their biggest need for improvement is staying focused and taking the season one game at a time and avoid having the one or two game mental meltdown against one of the bottom six teams in the district, they have had the past two seasons. (2) Sycamore : They have the talent level to again battle Harpeth for the district title. Their biggest concern is not replacing the talent lost from last year?s squad (their talent level is probably above that of Harpeth), their concern will be replacing the leadership and physical and mental toughness lost from last season?s squad that contained multiple sport athletes who thrived on pressure situations and were winners in all sports they participated in. (3) thru (8) : Does it really matter, they will again lack the talent to contend with the big two on a nightly basis. Not to say, one of these teams will not be capable of a one game upset of the big two, but they will not contend for the district title and whichever teams end up in positions three and four will be eliminated in their only region tournament game, just as they have each of the past two seasons.
  12. Greenbrier has the type of team that Sycamore hasn't had any success against this season, (i.e. a team that has won a game). Sycamore's only victories this season have come against teams with a combined record of 0-18. This game will be like all Sycamore district games have been this season, a "blowout" victory for the opponent. Wish I could be more optomistic, but the truth is, Sycamore is just not a very good football team this season.
  13. White House has the kind of team that Sycamore hasn't had any success against this season, (i.e. a team that has won a game). The teams Sycamore have beaten have a combined record of 0-15 for the season. White House should win this game by a large margin.
  14. Pearl-Cohn should be able to win this game by as many points as they want to score, until they call off the dogs (in this case firebirds). This year's Sycamore team hasn't had any success against this type of team. (i.e. a team that has won games during the season). As all of Sycamore's wins have come against teams still winless for the entire season.
  15. Sycamore should win this game, because Cheatham has exactly the kind of team, that the War Eagles have had their success against this season. (i.e. teams that have not even come close to winning a game all season.)
  16. Station Camp 28 Sycamore 0 Final Score. Station Camp was in total control the entire game. Sycamore never crossed midfield on offense, and it was 21 -0 at the half. Station Camp went very vanilla in the second half to avoid running up the score. Bottom line is Sycamore found out that they are not the team some thought, wins over winless Springfield and Montgomery Central, proved how weak those programs are this season, not how good Sycamore is.
  17. To repeat myself, tell us specific details about four or five different programs from 2 - 3A have made deep runs into the playoffs in recent years. Until you can do that, I will rest my case, that the records speak for theirself. Any general statements made about a region, without facts to support it, can't be viewed as anything other than a biased opinion.
  18. Please give us details about how five different teams from region 2 - 3A have made deep runs into the playoffs in the past few seasons. Again, just having a couple of dominant teams does make a tough region. How about trying to state facts to back up your opinions.
  19. Region 4 - 3A has to be the toughest overall. What other region has five different programs that traditionally can make a deep run into the playoffs. Just last season. Pearl-Cohn was in the semi-finals last season, Sycamore was in the quarterfinals (beaten out by region rival Pearl-Cohn), Station Camp was 10-1 before being beaten in the second round of the playoffs by Sycamore. Plus White House and Greenbrier have been to the state quarterfinals or better, just in the past few seasons. Just having one or maybe two dominant teams in a region, does not make it the toughest region. Having five programs in one region that you know can traditionally play with anyone in the state, now thats a tough region !!
  20. "Rutherford Co. Delays Football Start Times" School officials in Rutherford County have pushed the start time of Friday night’s football games back 30 minutes because of the heat. High school principals and head football coaches met with Rutherford County Schools’ Director Harry Gill, Jr. Friday morning to discuss game precautions. Instead of 7:30 p.m., football games in Rutherford County will begin at 8 p.m. In addition to the later start time, the coaches will be meeting with referees before each game to request frequent water breaks so the players can maintain hydration, Rutherford County officials said Friday. The Rutherford County EMS will also be present at... ...each game. In addition to the county’s football teams, Gill told all principals to meet with their band directors and cheerleading coaches to set up similar precautions. Eagleville School is playing at Moore County for its season opening game Friday, which currently is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Eagleville principal and coach plan to discuss with Moore County officials about moving that game to 8 p.m. as well. Siegel and Smyrna High schools are the only Rutherford County teams not playing Friday night. They play each other Saturday night. Officials are also working to push that game’s start time to 8 p.m.as well.
  21. Sycamore loses nine starters on the offensive side of the ball (listed below), the backfield combination of Lohin and Carrigan may have been the best combination in the region. Lohin QB Carrigan TB Vanderford TE Ray TE Littlejohn C Hobgood OG Robison OT Clanton WR Holden WR On the defensive side, they lose all of the above (of which several played defensive), and they also lose one of the leading tacklers in the region last season in Cannon (who was the heart and soul of the defense). Cannon and sometimes Vanderford were double teamed last season, that allowed others to make big defensive plays. For Sycamore to make the playoffs this year, they will need some of the younger players to come on strong, both in the play making and leadership roles.
  22. Sycamore won over McNairy Central 52-51 in a thriller !!!
  23. Winner of 2 vs. 7 and Winner of 3 vs. 6 play at 4:00 Winner of 1 vs. 8 and Winner of 4 vs. 5 play at 7:00
  24. District 11-AA All-District Team Projections Agree or Disagree 1st Team Scott Newton - Harpeth Kevin Giltner - Harpeth Austin Lohin - Sycamore Pierre Mitchell - Sycamore Jake West - Stewart County 2nd Team Chase Baker - Harpeth Travis Dempsey - Sycamore Cody Dunn - Montgomery Central Don Dansby - Cheatham County Russ Primm - Creekwood Honorable Mention Trey Caruthers - Harpeth Joey Beach - Cheatham County Alex Green - Waverly Brandon Williams - Creekwood Jared Lancaster - Stewart County MVP Scott Newton or Austin Lohin (depending on Friday's game)
  25. Again, you mention personal numbers, the question was which has been a better quarterback at Sycamore. Most any one that has played the game of football, will tell you the most important aspect of a great quarterback is being the team leader, not matching a mr football's stats. Lohin makes everyone of his teammates bring out the best in theirself, that's fifty young men working together as a unit. Ask any coach in the state, what they prefer, a quarterback with great talent that thinks HE can take his team to victory, or a quarterback with talent that bonds the entire team into one unit. The quarterback position is about much more than one individual's performance on the field.
