  1. Everyone seems to forget that Camden has a pretty good rushing offense itself. The Lions have 6 RBs capable of breaking off huge chunks of yardage anytime they touch the ball, not to mention a QB that's actually the fastest player on the team. Is Huntingdon's D Line that good that the Lions will have to pass all night just to have a chance? If it is, then it is vastly improved compared to last year's line.
  2. I also had a little chuckle over Camden's offense being described as a "finesse" offense. I"ve always thought of it as a "line up and run it down your throat" kinda offense, but maybe that's just me. Hope the rain lets up...hate to see the teams play in the mud, too many injuries happen. Standing room only I bet if the weather cooperates...should be a good'un for sure. Go LIONS!
  3. and when was the last time Camden went to state? have they ever? i would love to know the answer to that question. i wouldn't underestimate the Mustangs. we will come prepared. see you friday night as well Go Mustangs! I'm pretty sure there's not a kid on Huntingdon's team that's been on a championship team right? None on Camden either so that's even. But there are kids on Huntingdon that have been beaten by the Lions for the past three years so I would hold the "We are (were) the Champs!" speeches to a minimum if I were you. Makes you sound desperate.
  4. A new feeling huh? And you say Camden's arrogant?
  5. All play both ways but have several subs that rotate in and out....conditioning will not be a problem for the Lions. I know everyone says speed kills, but Camden has ALOT speed on it's side too this season...should make for a barnburner for sure.
  6. If Camden can continue to play the possession type ball they have been with 11-14 play drives and limit Holder and Thompson's touches it will be Camden's game. Camden had a much more balanced attack last week with 188 yrds passing and 200+ on the ground... but if Huntingdon's defense steps up in a big way it could get interesting. Huntingdon still running the wing T?
  7. You are absolutely right Prez....the Rebels are a much improved team who will definitely smack some folks in the mouth this year. Stewart should be in the hunt for a guaranteed playoff spot for sure...good luck the rest of the season.
  8. Hey GPAW! Your redbirds are doing great this year...we knew it was just a matter of time. Thanks for having the Lions' back and Good Luck to A'ville the rest of the season.
  9. Good to hear things are continuing to improve for the Rebels even with the coaching changes. Your program has been headed in the right direction and glad to know it's still on that path. Looks to be a good game...hopefully the Lions will be ready to take you guys on. Maybe the rain that's predicted for the next several days will not be so bad or it could get ugly in the trenches for sure. Me and my radar detector will see you Friday.
  10. It's all well and good to be proud of your team, but to call out another team that's working just as hard on the field as your team is pretty classless. Reflects badly on you, your school and not to mention the team you're so proud of. I'd watch myself if I were you, that stuff has a tendency to come back and bite you hard in the backside. CW still has some pretty tough games to play ...I wouldn't crown them just yet if I were you.
  11. HDIK...go to wrjbradio.com and contact Ron Lane the GM. He can put you in touch with Flash Melton, Camden's play-by-play radio guy.
  12. Actually both of Camden's lines are MUCH smaller than the past few years with the exception of one player...Big D. But, Big D is only in on obvious rushing situations like inside the 10 yrd line and whenever they need to clog up the middle like on XPs and FGs. He's a senior and a captain and also 300+lbs of pure heart and determination....just a great great kid. This years team's strength is speed on the lines and alot of muscle for your buck. The coaches have a great off season workout program that had 100% participation and it shows on the field. The players have really bought in on the program and are working hard to make all of us proud every week. As far as Camden being a state title contender I think they've got a long way to go to even consider that...hopefully if we get lucky they can improve every week and make a long playoff run though. OOB, I think you hit the nail on the head, some quick hits in the passing game would definitely open things up for Roark and the running game cause you guys certainly have some athletes to work with...Good Luck the rest of the way
  13. Camden 36 Harpeth 7 I said earlier that if the Lions got pressure on Roark and were able to run the ball, the W would belong to Camden and that's exactly what happened. I thought for a while Roark might have some success throwing the ball (got us good on a couple screens), but then the line started really getting after him and sacked him several times. Glad to see Camden's young lines really stepping it up. I think I counted 7 or 8 first year starters on defense with 4 or 5 being sophomores and close to that on O. They dominated both sides of the ball for the majority of the night. Camden's QB Gaskins had a big night, passing for a couple TD's and rushing for one more I think. Camden had so many TD's called back in the second half for ticky-tacky fouls that I lost track of who scored and when. Camden's youngsters started to get real sloppy at the end and some of the Indian's frustration began to show with several personal fouls, but all in all a good game that should give each team some much needed experience to use further down the road. Good luck to the Indians on the rest of the season. Go LIONS!
  14. PT...even I'm hesitant to compare this year's Lions with last years and I've seen both games and all but one scrimmage. Too many new guys playing with completely different skill sets than last year's team. I have a feeling comparing Harpeth to last season is probably not a great idea either because they have a bunch that got their feet wet last year and are alot more experienced than most of Camden's team. Don't get me wrong, I think Camden has a pretty good shot at winning this, but I think the Indians have a chance for the W also. Regardless it should be a great game and a good measuring stick for both teams. Go LIONS!
  15. Camden lost to only Milan and Fairview last year. I'm hoping like you KS that this is good ballgame. If Camden can run the ball successfully I feel good about the Lion's chances. Really looking forward to this one...should be a good'un Go LIONS!
  16. hdik, how did you guys have it set up before?
  17. The Camden/Harpeth matchup will definitely have playoff implications...should make for a great game. Looking forward to seeing how the young Lion defense responds to a good passing offense. If the Lions can get enough penetration from the D line to keep Harpeth's QB off-stride it will help our DB's out alot in the back end....if not, it could be a long night. Camden's running game, even though it's young and inexperienced and still early in the season, impresses the heck out of me. Using the two scat backs and a big bruising grinder (ala Chris Donald) to run the clock out and keep the ball out of Harpeth's QBs hands will be the best game plan Camden could have. A few passes here and there just to keep the Indian D honest wouldn't hurt either. Oh yeah, hanging on to the ball a little better would also be a plus. Has Harpeth ever played at Camden? I know we've played @ Harpeth in the playoffs a few times but I don't remember a regular season game at Camden. Regardless, welcome to the beautiful shores of Kentucky Lake ... hope to see a big crowd. Go LIONS!
  18. Congrats to the Cardinals! Its been obvious to those of us watching the last few seasons that Adamsville's program was headed in the right direction and looks like you guys have finally arrived. Good Luck the rest of the season. Hate we moved across the river and don't play you guys anymore...but maybe that's a good thing for us!
  19. Chin up guys!! Camden is going through the same kind of thing this season. How fortunate for us that both of our programs have only had 1 real rebuilding season in the last 6 or 7 years...most schools are not nearly as lucky. The Lions are also mostly very inexperienced and are playing more underclassmen than I've seen in a LONG while. Even so, I've seen flashes of brilliance in our young players...some true talent already shining through and I'm sure Lewis Co is the same...great coaching shows and I have a feeling the Panthers will get it together sooner rather than later. Good luck the rest of the season...maybe we'll see each other down the road. Never know stranger things have happened.
  20. Class move by a class program...sometimes it about alot more than football. You should be proud CPA4ever.
  21. It was great to revist the rivalry between the Rebels and Lions last night. Sloppy affair for both teams...lots of turnovers and penalties, the usual week 0 stuff. Score should have been much more lop-sided but the Lions seemed intent in keeping McKenzie in the game. The game did answer some questions the Lions had though. First...even though this team is fielding alot of underclassmen, probably the most in the Kevin Ward era and quite a few inexperienced upper classmen too, it has ALOT of talent and that talent has stepped up to the plate in a big way. Second....the line play was VERY good. Even though Camden could not establish any semblance of a passing game, they were able to run at will after the first couple of series. Third...even though the Lions tried to give this game away several times, this team has no quit in it like alot of young, inexperienced teams would. Finally... as we all know, great coaching and players buying into the system makes all the difference in the world. Glad to have this one under the belt. Hopefully the Lions have all the first game jitters out of the way and can get down to some serious football. On to next week...bring on Bruceton! Go LIONS!
  22. Hate to hear it for Montgomery....although it gives someone else a chance to step up, you hate it for a kid that has worked hard all year to not even be able to step a foot on the field in the regular season. Glad he's got another season to look forward to though, unlike Hale who's final season will spent on the sidelines. Hope he recovers and comes back strong next year...good luck to that young man.
  23. Camden won their Jamboree against West Carroll 26 or 27 to 6...I lost track. Camden had a few long pass plays that looked good, hope we actually use them during the season, uh ummm.... Jordan Murphy (lineman) is a beast for Camden, just a friggin beast. He was my favorite player last year as a sophomore and is even bigger and better this year...he was in on every tackle and every busted play. Devon White( RB) too...gonna be a whole lot of the offense for the Lions this year. Granted it was West Carroll we were playing and its hard to judge but we looked decent. Next week against McKenzie these young Lions will find out what they're made of for sure. I'm ready to get this show on the road...Go LIONS!
  24. Thanks DII...we appreciate you guys making the drive. DA definitely gave our young LBs and DBs something to think about. I don't know if you were talking about Kyle Blackburn or Devon White but they're both gonna be a good ones for us. Good luck to you this season.
  25. Camden's scrimmage with DA ended in a 3 TD tie. #40 for DA broke a 70 yard run on the first play from scrimmage and then again about a 62 yarder a few series later. If you let that kid past your LBs...he's gone. Camden had a lot of success running it right up the gut and DA had no success at all in the middle...good sign for our lines cause the Lions were outsized by a large margin on both sides of the ball. One thing I didn't fully realize until Friday...the Lions are YOUNG. Younger than we've been in several years. Gonna be some growing pains this year especially in the defensive backfield. This years success will depend alot on how fast these young guys mature and get a feel for things. There are some future playmakers on both sides of the ball for Camden no doubt...but it may be in the future that things really come together for them. Over all though, a good productive scrimmage for both squads.
