  1. Actually, both MVP's went to Boyd players in 2003.
  2. I don't understand how the MVP can be given to anyone on a defense that gives up 338 rushing yards and 24 unanswered points. MVP's should go to the winning team, in this case Mark Thompson who shut down everything up the middle the whole game. But, if anyone on Boyd's defense deserved an MVP it was #25, Henley. He made big hit after big hit and had more tackles.
  3. I saw Fennesse against DCA and was very impressed with him though it was probably not his best game. He had a slight disadvantage being nominated for Mr. Football as a lineman since he played linebacker and tailback and was not actually a lineman. He should not have been nominated in this category. At the same time he didn't have the offensive stats to compete with the Mr. Football backs that were nominated. Maybe there needs to be another category or something but I do think the two most deserving players won these awards. I don't know if anyone else noticed that the title of this thread is very funny. A lot of people are implying these awards were stolen from more deserving players so maybe it was misspelled on purpose. If so, well done Brewvol.
  4. 1A DCA by 10 2A Alcoa by 14 3A Upset Special Greenbrier by 3 4A Maryville by 7 5A Riverdale by a bunch
  5. What position and number is Matt Henley?
  6. If that is the case, this list will be very long.
  7. Rankings don't mean anything in high school football. That's why there are playoffs. If Boyd wins on Friday and the AP and Coach's Polls are split, then you can complain. Oh wait, nevermind. Franklin is the biggest underdog by a good margin.
  8. Mr. Football did go to the right player. This award is for the entire season and not for who is playing better at the end of the season. After watching Wooden last week against USJ, it is hard to imagine anyone playing better than he did in that game. But I have not seen Peardon so I can't really say Wooden is better. But make no mistake, he is very very good.
  9. Boyd vs. DCA is definitely worth missing work to see.
  10. Best in 1A I've actually seen play (in no particlur order) Landers----CPA Wooden ---DCA Thompson--DCA Webster----Mt. Pleasant #7 QB------Wayne Co. Coffee------Davidson Acad.
  11. I saw the Bodiford kid and Peardon against DCA last year and Bodiford was much faster. He should have won Mr. Football then. As for this year, I'm sure Peardon is very deserving of the award. I haven't seen him play but his stats were outstanding. Wooden is a phenomenal runner with a combination of strength, speed, quickness and vision. Who's better? We'll see Friday. As for the option giving DCA trouble against Wayne Co., keep in mind it was the veer option which is blocked a completely different way up front. That is what gave DCA trouble. That and #7 at QB. Talk about being hard to tackle. I'm sure Akin is fine QB but I would be surprised if he could run through tackles like this kid.

    New Coaches

If they are being paid by the school system, then they are school employees. I don't know if a head coach is required to work in some other capacity. I know assistants are not. Many schools have volunteer assistants as well as paid assistants that have other full-time jobs outside of education.
  13. Cedric Wilson, still with the 49ers, I believe.
