  1. There is a reason that Coalfield has won 2 out of 2 this year! Lady Jackets by 2 in a barn burner.
  2. Kaz, The half-time score was O.S. 19 CMS 11. Outside of the first 4 Minutes of the game Wartburg handled the press fairly well. They only allowed 1 fg in the second quarter and I think O.S. decided to play at a pace that would give them control of the game without gambling. As a matter of fact Wartburg only gave up 7 feild goals in the game outside of the first 4 minutes. Oneida got the same chance to win the C'ship as any other team at Caton's. We all knew going in that O.S. was the team to beat so, I don't see how Wartburg was rewarded. Besides the buzz at the A2 tournament was that Oneida wanted some of O.S. Oneida has beat Wartburg 3 times this year once by 1 and the other due to 9-40 shooting from the floor. There is a good chance that had you beaten O.S. in the semi-finals your luck may have ran out. (at any rate it would have been no cakewalk!) Besides how many times has Oneida won the East Tennessee Champ.? My count has Wartburg (1998 & 2002) and O.S. (2003 & 2005) with 2 Championships each. Has Oneida ever even been to the Finals?
  3. Fairview over Eagleton by 5pts. The Fairview team will win because they are more balanced. I watched Eagleton play 2 times in their tournament and they rely way too much on the 3 ball. The girl on the inside will not hurt Fairview because they have a very good post player as well.
  4. It was during the pre-season tournament at Oakdale.
  5. Oneida Girls are very good. They have a nice team. Oliver Springs has a very good team also. I think the game if it were to happen would finish with OS on top. The score would probably be something like 38-28. I would take OS by 10. The Christopher girl is just too good and OS will really hurt Oneida's press if they try it. The Indians could do some things to make up the 10 pts, but I doubt it.
  6. jab, My players do not play AAU. We have a full off season along with team study halls when the season is over. All I'm saying is that my teams midterm grades came out yesterday and I was not at all pleased. It is obvious that they are tired. However, this does not mean that we are ready to take our ball and go home. I can tell that you are looking at this from strictly a sports perspective. As a coach, it is my job to look out for the player and student. By the way I hate AAU ball but, that is for another place and time.
  7. True Oneida is a good all around team. However O.S. is a team also. They have players outside of Christopher....ie Laura Hall's little sis and a strong player in the post I think her name is Ollis or Ellis. They are just too aggressive. The only way that Oneida can beat them is not to run with them. If Oneida trys to press the O.S. bunch they'll pay for it. I have seen both teams and if I had to have one word to sum up Oneida it would be solid. They're very good everywhere. My one word for O.S. Scary. Enough Said. O.S. will win it all based on the teams I've seen this year.
  8. O.K. Lets get real. I know that Oneida can't let history play the games. However, none of us that have grown up around here can remember the last time they were bad in a regular season and didn't make a run in a tournament. This thing goes back to the 1960's. Check out their record. The kids up there have something to play for and something to grow up wanting. Oneida in basketball during tournament time......priceless. That bunch must have something in the water.
  9. Kaz, I am pretty sure that OS will win their conference. I think they'll win the whole thing as a matter of fact. The trouble with them is controlling the Christopher girl. She is a big/athletic as a post but plays guard. I have seen the brackets for Catons and was a little suprised to see OS and Oneida in the same bracket. I can't imagine that Area 1 and Area 3's champions better than Oneida 20-2 and OS 19-0.
  10. Truth I'm all for the TMSAA format. It is just fact that the county tournaments need to be somehow integrated into the mix. I just know that it causes trouble for the students by this time in the season. I'm seeing a drop off in my players on their classwork. From an academic standpoint 24-25 games is far too many. I am all for good competition and exposure. However, the feild needs to be narrowed out sooner. Teams that have not won a game in the regular season have no place in the Area tournament(that is just an example). We should make the regular season mean something and include the county tournaments. The point that I was originally trying to make is that the fact area 4 has to wait until Thursday is unreasonable. They need to play so we can get on with the season.
  11. Kaz come on Middle School kids playing 24-25 games. I coach and I can tell you that it reaches a point where the student in student athlete gets left behind. There is a big difference between a 6.7.8th grader and a H.S. Student. Morgan and Scott counties both have tournaments. Each should only send the top 3 to the Area Tournament. You can easily find yourself having to beat a team 4 times in a season. How does that prove anything?
  12. All this stuff about games being ppd. is unreasonable. The TMSAA should send the top 2 teams from each area and be done with it. This time of year you are just asking for trouble....ie. weather, sickness, etc. There are way too many games being played for middle school kids. After all they aren't in high school yet.
  13. Do you know the times of the games for Monday and Tuesday?
  14. Thanks CoachT! Don't let a few complaints ruin a good thing. Communication about Middle School Sports depends alot on word of mouth. Having this on the web is a great help to coaches in the area.
