  1. Don't you ever learn johnpaul, no one from central deserves to be on this team, helton isnt even the best quarterback in his co. or region, so how can he be best in the state, scott, that is debateable, he has some tallent, just not when he plays maryville
  2. This is a complete load. The 2 most dominating teams in 4A, Maryville and Melrose. No all-state players. 3A state champ fulton, no players. 5A state champ Riverdale, no players. Something seems wrong when even the Mr. Football award winners arent even on this list. If they are going to make a mockery called the all state list, at least have the better players on it. I'm sorry, but carter and halls don't have anyone that should be all state
  3. I'm not the one wanting to call it the civil war, go back and check the first post. I was the one saying it wouldn't work. And trust me, I understand a lot about the reasons the civil war was started and the effects of the civil war had on america(thanks mr. white, best ap teacher in the state IMO). With that being said, I don't have a problem with students waving the flag at games, if you look across the field at the mhs-ahs games, you'll see just as many, if not more flags on there sidelines. I don't have a problem when its a symbol of southern and school pride. Now if it was used as a symbol of racism, like if we only used it when we played schools with a huge % of minority students, I could see people having a problem with it. But every single game(except state) the flag is there, it doesnt matter if the school is all minorities or all white. It's a symbol of school pride, its been that way for as long as my uncles (all grads of mhs. from the 70's) can remember.
  4. Those were the best refs in the state and your still complaining? Watch out folks, debuting in the 2005 football season, INSTANT REPLAY! guess it will be the only way the haters will be happy. And by the way, I watched the game from home, the announcers were saying there were late hits and several pass interference calls that weren't called against melrose, and there is no way you can say that the interception by parnell wasnt one. Completely clean, watch the replays.
  5. I completely agree with you. I was one of those students, the 4 best years of my life. You know how the Co. Schools attempted to ban us from bringing the flags, then they let there own students bring in shredded ones. complete bs if u ask me. In this day and age though, tradition or not, people are trying to get ride of this symbol of southern pride. i personally see nothing wrong with it, but some people just have to ruin all the students fun. and as a joke, how bout we call it the battle for the blount co. championship, william blount and heritage wouldnt be able to win it even if it was keep around.
  6. Thanks Indian for giving me some hard names to back up what I've said. I knew that he had had some major prospects over the past couple of years and only 1 title in 5A that maryville could of won after beating Mephis East in the 4A game. And I'm sorry, but if a team with no D-1 prospects beats a team that was still "loaded" from the year before when they won a 5A title, with "one of the top 5 backs in the nation", your not the best coach around.Ti-Ta, I bet I know more about Tennessee football then you do. Is all you know how to do is call someone an idiot without having any points to refute what they've said? Call me an idiot when you can prove I'm an idiot. Until you have something worth saying, your just wasting other peoples time.
  7. Not sure civil war would work 2 well. I mean, we know somethin about history, having the rebels being one of the teams, and there are always a bunch of confederate flags. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen, not matter what the students, faculity, and alumni want. I dont think that name will work because of political correctness. Maybe somethin like Brawl for it All or somethin. Thats kinda a lame name, its all I could think of as of right now. My uncles have told me how back in the old days maryville and alcoa guys would actually have big fights every year for a while. now its just a big prank war.
  8. I don't mean to disrespect him, i'm just giving an honest opinion based on my limited knowledge. I do know a lot about high school football in tennessee in general, not particularly coaches as I do schools, and I don't see why anyone, good coach or not, family friend or not, would leave nation powerhouse schools to come and play for a school in tennessee that will probably finish 4th at best in their own region. It's just not logicial for 2 kids who will probably be in the top 5 players in their recruiting class to do something like that.
  9. I'm sure he is a good coach, and what team in the state can't say, "well be real good if we have a good quarterback and rb", like half of them? there is a difference between having tallent and not living up to potential, and not having the tallent and overachieving. Look at some of the consistant winning teams around the state for the past 5 years. They all have tallent but they over achieve. And if Weathers is such a good coach, with mr. riggs 3 years ago, how come they got shut down a year after winning the 5A state title, moved down to a smaller classification, by a maryville defensive team with no D-I prospects to my knowledge? sounds like all he can do is waste tallent, not develop it.
  10. Anyone know if either jeff smith or gary tucker are getting any looks from colleges? these guys are some true beasts
  11. Sorry to tell u, but winning state titles and beating central year after year isnt recruiting. People want to go where they can win, not go 9-1 during the regular season and lose in the quarter finals year after year after year
  12. Just curious, but why would someone with the prestige of a clausen or riggs want to leave nationally known schools to play for....Soddy Daisy? They arent even a powerhouse in their own county. IF, and I mean IF either or both go to a high school in TN, I would think it would be a maryville, riverdale, hillsboro, melrose type of situation, teams that are well known throughout the state at least. All have good coaching staffs and are proven winners for the last 4+ years, not just one hit wonders. Imagine what quarrles and staff could do with these guys, no one could say they had more tallent and still lost to maryville then.
  13. flashy, Blount Co. football isnt way too talented, Maryville and Alcoa football is. Blount Co. football is garbage and full of cowards, I'm tired of seeing maryville waste 2 games on Bount Co. programs. I say we drop Blount Co. football teams from our schedule just to punish them for what the did to Alcoa. But if we did that, we'd be short 2 games, I don't know many teams from this area, much less 2, that would volunteer to get beat by us unless they are forced by the state.
  14. If Maryville comes out to play like they did tonight, maryville by 21, but if they come out flat, I would say Maryville in OT. I don't care how big and how fast melrose supposedly is, maryville has the best discipline and best coaches in the state, and a little more tallent doesnt make up for a great gameplan, which we all know by now GQ and Co. does every week. Maryville is real loaded this year, tons of depth, what about melrose? fatigue going to be a factor in this game? And do they have a big O-line or a fast O-line?
  15. Well, I finally had enough of just sitting back and reading all of these lovely posts, so I'm ready to through my 2 cents in. Let it be known, I'm a real REBEL through and through, my blood is black, and nothing will make me happier then to see good ole MHS win another one. I have seen THS play twice(im a college student, and i know a lot of THS alumni there, went 2 seem them with my friends) and i would say they seem pretty decent. now on with the real stuff. i've taken time out of my busy schedule 2 see 2 mhs games(alcoa and central #1) with some of these same THS friends, and there jaws hit the ground. comming from THS diehards, they dont think they stand a chance. sorry, but u havent seen anything like the red and black attack. and about casteel, he gave me heck all 4 years i was there, but he really is just a big softy. brown on the other hand, can get real p*ssy. just dont do anything stupid and get kicked outta the games for the rest of the year, but even if he tell u that, there are ways around it. and seniors, there will be a bunch of heck raisin former students in the stands this weekend helping yall. and a request, we attempted this last year, for the senior gift, try and get a picture of hershcel walker runnin over casteel and get walker to sign it for him. he'll love that
