  1. What's the scrimmage schedule for Region 5 teams . CPA at Springfield Friday , what's the rest of the Region 5 teams scrimmages this week?
  2. Who is scrimmaging who this end of week ? Jamborees a week away , its almost Friday Night Lights again !
  3. What classification will the Pats fall in 2017 ? Know the enrollments haven't been set by T$$AA yet , but where do you think HC will be.
  4. How did some of the scrimmages go among the teams in the Region ? Portland-Hillsboro , Spfld-Nash-East , W.H.-D. Lipscomb , Macon-WH Heritage Pearl Cohn ? Maplewood?
  5. Well no one else is responding so here are my way too early picks subject to change before season begins. 1. Pearl-Cohn or Springfield (toss-up right now). 3. Macon Co. 4. Maplewood 5. Portland 6. White House After fall practice the picture should be more clear , but this is how I see it now.
  6. Has the splitting of the high schools in White House had an impact on the Devils ? I know last year injuries really hit WH , the depth has to be an issue . Still shaking my head over the reasoning of why the split happened and that both Sumner and Robertson county school systems could have compromised on the issues of dividing the White House schools.
  7. Football is near , how is this region gonna go this year. Defending champ Pearl-Cohn looks to be the favorite , runner-up Springfield has several starters back or will some other teams make a push toward the top. Would like to hear from other fans on how your team looks this season.
  8. Tough loss for the Jackets last night to a very good Pearl -Cohn team. Thanks to all the seniors on the squad who led the Jackets to a successful season , we are proud of you. Time to move on and try to get better for next season and maybe take another step forward , we should have another good year with several starters returning next year and the underclass men moving forward and having been part of a successful season. Pearl-Cohn and Memphis East should be an outstanding game , I too was impressed by the Pearl-Cohn defense last night , its easy to overlook them when they have so many weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Thanks again to the 2014 Jackets for an enjoyable season and leaving a foundation for the Jackets to build on and take another step forward in our journey toward adding another gold ball to the trophy case.
  9. I should have remembered that , thanks for the correction.
  10. Not that it means anything , of the final 8 in the 4A quarter finals 6 of the 8 teams have won State Championships. Lexington and East Hamilton will be trying to seek their first. Pearl-Cohn has two titles and everyone else has one title.
  11. Rematch between the Jackets and Firebirds. Pearl-Cohn rolled in the first meeting , can the Jackets pull the upset ?
  12. This time around I believe this game will be much tougher. Kenwood has not lost since the last game with Springfield and the game was played in a downpour , at that time I predicted we could probably be facing Kenwood again in the playoffs. The weather this time around looks to be great football weather.
  13. Looks like weather will be an issue for opening round of playoffs. Hillwood Coach Kurt Page has the Hilltoppers in the playoffs in his first year at the school. Springfield Coach Dustin Wilson was a player for the Jackets in 1997 when they faced Father Ryan coached by Kurt Page , the Irish won the private school State Championship that year and the Jackets finished 9-4 reaching the 4A quarter finals , they defeated Hillwood in the first round of the playoffs 31-21.
  14. Looking forward to this game , back when the reclassification was announced I thought the Region title would come down to these two teams. P-C has played a very tough schedule and their record is misleading , it will take an outstanding effort and maybe force some turnovers for the Jackets to get a win at Pearl-Cohn . Looks like it will be great night for football.
  15. Springfield has a much needed open date , a few injuries time to heal and an extra week to prepare for the huge task of taking on Pearl-Cohn for the Region title on the final week of the regular season.
  16. Carlisle was impressive , especially in running the football , good vision and football savy , many times the Jackets over pursued on defense and he was very patient and waited to get a seam and pick up yardage. I don't know the makeup of your team , but with him only being a sophomore it looks like Macon County will be a tough team in the future. I really like the atmosphere at your stadium , right on top of the action , not a fan of the more modern stadiums with a track around the field. I hope when we move to the new stadium in a few years that it won't have a track around it. Good luck to the Tigers the rest of the way.
  17. Looking forward to the game Friday it's supposed to be clear cool night for football , unlike the last three Fridays . I like watching a game at Macon County , your right on top of the action. My first time there was the 1975 Industrial Bowl where the Jackets defeated Antioch 13-7. Jimbo Pearson was the Coach , little did we know it was his last game, the following spring he died of a heart attack at a young age , outstanding coach and person a legacy Jacket player and coach. I was hoping to hear from some Macon County fans , I know their sophomore QB Seth Carlisle is an outstanding player.
  18. Robert West did not play football , he went to Tenn. Tech , outstanding player who could fill it up . The QB for the Jackets in 1990 was Carlos Cook a junior at that time, was also QB his senior year (12-2). West's uncle Lonnie played basketball at APSU in the early 80's , he to could fill it up. Man I'm rambling but I can't remember to pick up bread at the store.
  19. Only two teams qualified for the play-offs at that time. The Jackets had enough wins for a bowl game but Coach Jones declined , the next year 1991 Springfield finished 12-2 falling to Brentwood Academy in the State Semifinals.
  20. Springfield defeated Macon 41-0 in 1988 , no brawl with Springfield ever that I recall , Jackets went to second round of play-offs that year. Al Braxton caught the 68 yd pass from Jason Banks in the final seconds for Portland that beat the Jackets in 1990.
  21. Remember this game Springfield was 6-1 and then lost their last three to Henry Co. Portland and Macon County. The Portland loss was on a Hail Mary pass late in the game and the Macon loss knocked the Jackets out of the play-offs.
  22. Big region game for both teams. Jackets can clinch a play-off home game with win and Tigers need a win for a chance of a play-off berth.
