  1. SM will play play well whether they play at home or on the road. They look pretty good playing down at South Pitt earlier this year. They did not look intimidated playing in front of a hostile crowd against a really good football team. BullReb aren't you the one that said Casade will kill Signal in the second round and the Rebs will roll. Why do you even care about TC and SM?
  2. I was with Coach Price when the coaches got together in Chattanooga over two years to make the 2009 and 2010 schedules and virtually nobody wanted to play Signal Mt outside of their district with the exception of Sequatchie County, East Hamilton, CCS and Hixson. All 4 teams were from a higher classification. It was very difficult for him to get 10 games. The other two late pick-up games were Sequoyah and Eagleville. As for the upcoming schedule, SM will continue to play South Pitt, East Hamilton and they are picking up Polk County. They will also play district games with Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Grundy County, CCS and Notre Dame. For next year he has contacted Baylor, McCallie, Soddy Daisy, Red Bank and Ooltewah with no takers. Bradley County is a possibility. I guarantee you he would love to play Trousdale in week one or week three. Have your coach give him a call. Signal Mt may lose every game, but he is not afraid to play anyone. And by the way, thanks for all the kind comments…they will look good on a SM bulletin board and will help motivate their team.
  3. Big win...have to play hard this week. Coach Barger will have them ready. It should be a good crowd. i hear Bledsoe has a tough little back.
  4. Whatever, I will be watching the game again ths week and lookiing for a victory. Take care of coach Frits. He's a good man. I hope Barger keeps him around.
  5. Buddy, I am SC fan and been to every game but one. The Indians played well against Central and should have won,but turnovers killed us but I was also at the SM game. The touchdown pass bounced and the receiver knows it. I was on the goal line watching the play. The other score on was a chop block about seven yards behind the play and was rightly called back. We did play well but you know it wasnt a four quarter game. SM scored fast and in bunches. We do have a good team and hopefully will win out the rest of the way. SM did play young kids in the second half and those kids are pretty good, you do realize SM only plays three seniors on either side of the ball.
  6. As I understand it, the only statistic that matters is the final score and I believe Marion beat Grundy in that category. As for Sequatchie's offense running for 300 against Signal, the score was 35-0 and the mercy rule was in place before Sequatchie even scored. Signal fumbled on the five going in the first quarter and Sequatchie did get a pass play called back late in the second quarter. I would guess that over half of those yards were in the second half when younger SM players were in the game. I believe that score ended up 42-7. With all that said, Sequatchie does have really good skill kids on offense and they will score points. I think they could win out the rest of the year and they have enough talent to do so, but don’t underestimate Marion. As for this game, both teams have really good coaches, but Sequatchie should win by 2 touchdowns 21-6, if the Indians don’t turn it over. Marion will play hard, but the Indians 3 backs should wear down Marion. Good luck to both teams.
  7. To respond to all the talk about SM transfers, we have lost much more than we have gained. Out of this season’s Signal Mountain junior class that played youth football on the mountain… on transition to middle school, we lost 4 players to Baylor and 3 more to McCallie. In addition, in transition from middle school to high school, we lost our two top players…one to McCallie and other to Cleveland. Of these kids that left, three now start for Baylor, three start for McCallie and one starts for Cleveland. That’s seven starters to quality programs that would be juniors at SMHS. Even though these kids are gone we wish them well and still follow their progress. They were all part of our youth and middle school football programs on the mountain. With that said, we don’t want to hear about transfers. We lost possibly seven starters from this years team and we only have one starter that moved to the mountain who is new in 2010. You play with you you have.
  8. What conference does Pepsi500 team play…the soft drink league? SM is in the correct class based on enrollment. They will play were the TSSAA puts them. It is funny their schedule is being questioned…since they played and beat everyone in their league with exception of SP with a team that only had two kids that ever played a varsity football game until this year. Folks on the mountain are proud their kids are competitive. Pre-season most folks on the mountain were hoping to be 6-4 with schedule they had. As for padding schedules, at Coffee County Coach Price replaced Sweetwater and Grundy County with Baylor and Brentwood High. He does not pad his schedule to get wins. SM is lucky to have Coach Price. I’m not sure any coach in the area could have done so much so quick. SM is a true team where the players are unselfish and they just want to win. Their best years are yet to come whatever class they play in the future…but no one can take away the inaugural 2009 season for the Eagles.
  9. Cascade has really good skill players and good size up front and they will be a real challenge for SM but its a great opportunity to see a young team compete. I agree SM and Boyd would be a good game, but don't get the horse before the cart.... Both SM and Boyd have tough games Friday night. But I'm sure both would love the chance to play Trousdale because that would mean we made the finals. I'll agree with that smegle1!
  10. Its hard to beat a team twice in one year] It was 21-7.
  11. Coach Price did work hard on this schedule. I was with him at the preseason coaches meeting and he went to every coach there trying to get games. Everyone there except the ones on the schedule would not play him. The next day he called almost every coach in the 2 hour drive area to fill week 7 and 8 with no takers. He was lucky to get these games. Trousdale Co. might kill Signal Mountain and they probably should since this was SM first season of varsity football. Only two kids on the team had ever played a varsity football game. Even with that, all games on the schedule outside the region with the exception of Eagleville were from a higher class. It's sad you would not respect a coach that took a team with no experience as far as they come this year.
  12. Signal Mountain has a pretty good team but they are very young playing an abundance of sophomores and few freshman. If they go 6-4 it would be a great first year. Sequatchie County is a more established larger school and should beat Signal pretty easily. If Signal were to win it would be a huge upset in my opinion. Signal Mountain should be better next year when they mature. I only think one player on their entire team had never played varsity football before the season started. SC should win by two touchdowns.
