Devil, No not all the kids are from Madison just like not all the kids at any school comes from the same city. Heard of HS County School or Open-zoned schools. If a parent wants to send their child to any school and have the money to do it, what difference does it make to you? Just admit you do not like private schools whether they obey the rules or not. What about those poor kids at Red Boiling Springs that has to play Trousdale County and will get beaten by 50, but no one ever says anything about that. GP did not get to choose which district they went to, the TSSAA did that and made it as hard on GP for travel as they could. GP wanted to play in a western district. The rules are the rules, everything is based upon enrollment and if your enrollment plus the 1.8 multiplier puts you in a class then those are the rules. The coaches wanted to move up, but the administration decided differently. Don't get on here saying things that make you sound very uneducated to the process.

Partsunknown, I do not coach at GP and do not want to. Not enough money. I do have friends there and I talk with them often. As for defending them, I would anyone who is being accused of something untrue and without facts to base I on other than they do not like a certain school or class of schools. I know the kids work hard, but that is not the point. I am sure some alums come out to the games and help the school, but I do know it is not as it once was. Please go out and support the team they need that , but please Mom don't act and feel like everyone gets a trophy for playing. This is HS, not elementary. As in life as in sports, it is not fair but is for those to work hard and overcome things that succeed. The current president makes all the decisions for sports now. He wants to be in control and given the congrats for all the things at school. What comes with success you must also accept blame, which does not seem to understand. Slim, I am surprised at you. Are you calling me a liar? Many coaches in Nashville helped at the camp and to my knowledge not a single kid from the "inner city" that was at the camps went on to attend at GP. If you know od some names let me know. It as really hard to judge an 8 or 9 year Old's talent.

64NB95, You seem to know a lot about how GP recruits. If it as you say legal, what is the problem? I do not know of any students on a work scholarship or any Alumini paying for someone other than there kids to go to GP. If there are it is illegal. Most of the alums I know are very angry at the current administration and are not supporting the school as they have in past years. As for the SM Camp, I worked the camp as a coach for several years and not a single kid from the camp ever came to GP.

devilfanatic, I am not sure where you get your info but, GP only has 50 kids on the football roster with no "few inner city kids" has you put it on the team. If you have proof of any private school doing illegal rules violations please turn then in to the TSSAA. Mr. Carter did not make the rules, they are voted on by the entire TSSAA school administrators and the TSSAA board which has schools from both public and private. Without the 1.8 multiplier GP would be one of the smallest schools in Class A. The coaches wanted to stay in 3A, but the new school administration said no. One of the reasons Coach Martin left.

Yes after giving up over 300 yards rushing to a wing-t Kenwood team and over 300 yards passing to Page and losing both scrimmages, Coach Mote needs to look at either getting rid of the 3-3 Stack defense or making some majoring adjustments to it or this will be a very long season for GP. He is the Defensive Coordinator and makes the calls, so the change has to come from him.

MyTake, I am not a Martin follower and I do not have any part with any of the team's functions. I just being around several programs in my time see some real issues at GP. I believe you may have some rose-colored glasses issues when you look at the team. If you are a parent I understand because I to have been a parent and sometimes we just see the things we want to see. Size and talent are there, the problem is no matter how much talent you have you must have good coaching and organization to be successful. Whether you agreed with Coach Martin or not, you have to understand that during his term there the GP program was one of the top 5 programs in the state in any classification. When I mentioned the assistant coaches, I did not single out the coaches left from last year, I was including all the coaches. It would be interesting to know how many parents, students, and players want a coach out of GP. That may be the problem with the program now, to many people thinking they know what is best and wanting to run things. That can be a killer to a program instead of allowing the head coach to setup and run his program. Do you know which coach ran their off-season conditioning program? I can see from your comments that you are not a coach because just that you do not like the wing-t offense as compared to other is by no means a reason to criticize an offense and defense that has won 3 state titles and runner-up several other times.

After watching practice and the scrimmage with Kenwood I would say that GP will be lucky to win 4 games this year. Their practice is un-organized and little is accomplished. The new defense Coach Mote as implemented will not work as he has designed. Kenwood beat them very badly in the scrimmage. No defense what so ever. There is no discipline on this team. Players arrive late to practice, they say and do as they want, and seem to be going through the motions. I understand the assistant coaches are frustrated and want things changed. It looks to be a long year unless Coach Mote makes some changes. It seems he is more worried about the service projects the team will do instead of organizing and preparing for the season. The school president will get what he wants and what he deserves.

Great. Hopefully the TSSAA will do the right thing and punish GP. I do not know where hale is, but hopefully it will be a nice place.

If you have proof and facts please turn GP into the TSSAA so they can be reviewed and punished. If you have no proof then please stop making statements that you cannot backup except in your bias to private schools.

Coach Martin did not want to allow the players that were suspended back on the team. This was a direct command from the top administrator. Coach Martin wanted to allow them back on after the season was over and after they worked their way back into the program. When they cam back it caused many problems on the team and the team chemistry was destroyed. It was a wonder they did as well as they did. For those who question, yes he was forced out. Why would a coach resign in the middle of the school year, unless he had another opportunity already lined up, which he does not at this time. He was ask on Wednesday to clean out his office and tell the players he would not be the coach at Goodpasture. Some way to treat a man who has done so much for the school.

Just shutup. There is no need for that here. If you have solid proof of cheating then produce it and someone will take it to the TSSAA and the school administration. It is very old to continue to hear this with no proof.

D2A, It has nothing to do with being on a "high horse", it has something to do with people making a blanket statement that "everyone recruits". If this is a big problem then gather the proof and turn them in and then that will end this discussion about a private school or a public school.

jangalang please do not make remarks like these. You do not and cannot find any proof that GP or any private school playing in Division I football recruit. You make ignorant statements with no proof to back your accusations and remarks about high school football fans. The GP football program is well respected in Tennessee. I am not associated with GP, but I, along with many HS football fans, are interested in GP and all schools in all the classifications in Tennessee.
