  1. Congratulations on the win Soddy-Daisy!
  2. I think I can speak for Bobcats fans when we say thank you for the compliment, blitznbuc. Greenbrier takes pride in our community and hospitality. Win or lose, the Bobcat fans turn out. This one is going to be on CSS tomorrow night for those that don't know....if you can't come, tune in! Go GREEN I was over there for a first round playoff game in 2005, I think. My Grandson played for Meigs County then. It was a good game, but Greenbrier was a little too much for us, and won by 14 I think. Everyone I met wearing green that night was very complimentary, wishing us success before the game, and treating us like royalty. Everyone thanked us for coming over, and wished us safe travels back home after the game. As our boys were loading up to get on the bus after their showers, etc., many of the Greenbrier fans and players came by and complimented them on a hard-fought game......which it was. As I said, I have NEVER been anywhere that treated visitors as well as the Greenbrier folks did us that night. That's a testimony to the people in the community, as well as the school administration and coaches. Good luck!
  3. Meigs only gained 25-30 yards through nearly 3 full quarters against the starting defense last Thursday and only reached their own 40 yard line during that time. I can't see any team this year so far holding them down to nothing like that so I'm surprised you got unanimous picks for Central. That said, comparing common opponents and the results can be deceiving so we'll just have to see what happens Friday. FYI: Having talked to more Meigs's players, former players, and two Meigs' coaches, not a one picked Sequatchie to win. Central's defensive starters had the same success as Sequatchie in keeping Meigs botled up deep in their territory, without any first downs the first half......and Meigs only started moving the ball with any degree of success after Central had unloaded the bench in the third quarter. The present Meigs players and the two coaches I talked to this week said Central's offense was MUCH more dominating than Sequatchie's......and they added that Central's special teams were much better. So, take it for what it's worth.
  4. I think Oooltewah is a little more talented than McMinn, and they have coaches with more seasoned experience. But after watching McMinn practice a couple of times this week and being around the players and coaches some, I think McMinn will upset the Owls.
  5. I'm pulling for Greenbrier. The most courteous and hospitable fans of any place I've ever visited.
  6. I think the game will be close, and low-scoring......with Sweetwater coming out on top.
  7. You guessed wrong. I didn't play high school football around here.
  8. I asked 8 Meigs County fans (3 are Meigs' player's parents) over the past two days who they thought would win the game, since the Tigers played both teams. ALL of them picked McMinn Central, as well as all three of the Meigs Co. players, for what it's worth. And I might note that as big a rivalry as there is between Meigs County and McMinn Central, it grieved everyone of them to predict a Charger victory.
  9. Your description of me wasn't noteworthy since you don't know me personally. It was YOU who claimed ownership in the beginning by stating "lets". And now that I've called you out for your education - or lack thereof - you suddenly want to quit playing. Yep.....another novice.
  10. First, you need to put an apostrophe between the t and s of let's, before I pick out the other errors in your post. There are several.
  11. Well, I'm certainly pulling for the Eagles to win. Would love to see Rhea Co. get back to what they once were, to make this District even tougher. I played against the late Coach Horton in high school, and my sons played against his Rhea Co. teams in the late 80's and early 90's when they were in high school at McMinn Co.
  12. First of all, I'm going to agree with you that my statement sounded boastful and pious. Rather than edit it, I'm going to leave it up as a reminder to myself that I should be more humble. Please accept my apology. #1: My reference was about property taxes. Being a good business person has nothing to do with that. #2: Not exactly sure what you mean, but I assume you're indicating you're taller than me? #3: Don't know what post you're referring to. Can you link it?
  13. Now thats funny, its almost as funny as your inability to make real intelligent comments on high school football games. So take your bitter old self to another thread and leave this one to residents of Bradley county. Uhhhh, I am a resident of Bradley County.....and probably pay a lot more residential and business taxes into this county annually than you make in a year.
  14. Rumor has it that they're going to pay people $6 each who will show up and watch this game. If they threw in free colas and food, they may get more than a 100 to attend.
  15. Trust me on this one.......Meigs chances are somewhere between slim and none - and ol' Slim left town. And I say this as a Meigs' fan, and will be pulling for them. This is not the same Meigs team that my Grandson played on 3-4 years ago. Polk can virtually name their score this year against Meigs. Congrats to your guys for the great season, and especially for the HUGE victory last night.
  16. Confidence? It sounds more like diarrhea of the mouth. I heard that 1994 Pirate had eggs and crow for breakfast.
  17. Good point about the touchdowns called back and the big plays that had a "late" flag coming out against Polk....especially when you consider that Polk has been one of the least penalized teams all season. It does make you wonder.
  18. Alcoa is a powerhouse...no question. I do remember two years ago at Murfreesboro, several Alcoa fans watched our game and stated that they were glad we were in 1A because we would be a better opponent that what they would face. That was two years ago and this team plays a whole different offense. I believe SP could play with any one in the Chattanooga area...not beat them all....but play with them. I have not seen Alcoa play this year, but after dismantling Maryville early this year, I don't have any clue if we would even be able to stay on the field with them. If you can accept the truth, I can give you the answer. Alcoa could spot South Pitt 27 points at halftime, then come back in the second half and beat them. Yes, they are that good.
  19. I might also note that Benny played for the Cherokees, which were coached by Bo's Grandfather. And Benny coached at Cleveland when they beat the team that Bo was on at McMinn. Much respect between the two.
  20. I remember you and your hubby having him at Church (Fairview) when he was a little thing. I knew he was going to be athletic back then. Always loved his pretty smile! Thank you. I've kept ourselves annomous on here for the past year. We really didn't want to draw any attention to ourselves nor to Jamin. But he's got at least 2 games left and we want him to know how privileged we are to have him as our son and to have watched him play ball. Thank you for your kind remarks. We still attend FBC. I'm sorry I don't know who you are. Introduce yourself at the game. I understand, which is why I didn't mention you or your hubby's name. Think of someone goofy, and you'll figure out who I am. Coach Lambert knows who I am.
  21. WOW! That's impressive. Obviously turnovers and penalties killed Cleveland.
  22. Don't know which Coach you're talking about but if anybody even mentions firing either one of these two Coaches, they need to be committed quick! I thought it would be a great game, and I thought it would be close at the end and could go either way. And though many Pirate fans on here are going to have a HUGE portion of crow to eat, I commend their team for not giving up, and for fighting to the end.
  23. Yes, I was pulling for Polk tonight.
  24. Polk beats the South Pitt team, the refs, and the scoreboard operator.......34-28.
