It is finally the week of the big game! Three years ago, Webb broke Catholics winning streak and the Spartans have won the past two years as well. The past two years have been complete routes in the Spartans favor. What are the thoughts on this years game? Is it gonna be one of those classic Webb/Catholic games or is it gonna get ugly again?

I haven't heard much about FRA, DCA or Davidson Academy. I know DCA beat Ezell Harding by only 3 points last week. If that is any indication then Webb should handle them on Friday night. First home game for the Spartans this Friday night so the Spartans will be amped up, ready to go!

How is DCA looking this year? I know they have been competitive in the games against Webb over the past couple years but I dont know much about them this year going into the game this Friday. What do they have??

This game has not been close the past 4 years or so. Is this years game going to be just as bad? Thoughts and predictions??

BGA moving down to DII AA is great for the division. This will give Webb some great competition. Webb and BGA used to play every year and the games were always great. This will turn into a big rivalry and will be great for both schools in baseball and football.

Its Brock Beeler...He suffered an injury to his spleen. Almost ruptured. He will be back in probably two weeks. Andrew Campbell has mono. Both are two way starters which hurt the Spartans with both of them out.

Ya I would love to hear how ECS, USJ, and St. George are this year from the West and also how DCA and Davidson are this year. Webb plays DCA pretty soon. After watching the Spartans last night, it is going to take a lot from these other teams in DIV II A to take the Spartans down. Once Blance gets going, they are going to be very hard to stop on offense and their defense showed last night against Alcoa, that they can play with anyone.

I am very pleased to see these post game posts because they are all right on. Anybody who watched this game could see how tough the Spartans were playing. They played 11 guys both ways the entire game except when one would cramp up. They also had two two-way starters out. Hats off to the Spartans who gained everyones respect tonight.

That would be a great idea! I would love to come watch a quarter of Maryville and Alcoa.......That is dumb and ignorant. Back to the game that is being played and lets stop fantasizing about a Maryville and Alcoa one quarter scrimmage. Alcoa is bigger in size and numbers and its not even close. If you look at the two sidelines and knew nothing about the teams, one would guess that it will be a blowout. However, the way the Spartans play completley changes the game. I have never seen kids play as hard as Webb kids do. The majority of their players go both ways and play tough the entire game. I am not saying the Spartans are gonna come in there and win this game. But all the Alcoa fans that think this is gonna be a walk in the park are going to be suprised on Saturday night. Couple big plays by Todd Kelly Jr. and Aaron Blance, and we got ourselves a ball game.

You must not have been to many football fields. And I still don't understand why that makes a difference. Oh gosh your prediction....bless your heart if you think USJ will hold Webb to 21 points. Webb used money to build a state of the art press box and also more renovations around the field that you will notice. They thought that was more necessary then to build visiting bleachers considering many schools just have bleachers on one side of the field anyways. Trust me buddy there will be room for all your fans. But since when does having visiting stands behind the visiting sideline make a difference? ha I have never heard that before. But back to the field, I hope USJ has more play makers then just that one guy because one guy will not beat the Spartans.

Thanks for the insight on USJ. I had no idea they had a Quarterback of that caliber. I hear they have a very good RB/WR that they try and get the ball to a lot. What kind of player is he? You think he has enough speed to make big plays against the Webb defense?

To answer your question about how Webb stopped Kimberlin is that Webb's coaches had two weeks to prepare for him and their offense. Webb's coaches are second to none and knew exactly what SBEC was going to try and do. Plus Webb's linebackers and defensive backs are just so fast that they can prevent the big play from happening by swarming to the football. With that being said, this Webb team has a running attack that has not been close to being stopped in divisional games and I don't see USJ being able to slow the Spartans down. USJ might have a good offense but that is what they said about there offense back in the 2009-2010 season when they laid a goose egg in the state championship against the Spartans. Webb has too much overall speed for USJ and the game plan made by the Webb coaches will have the Spartans very prepared for anything USJ tries to throw at them. With that being said, I haven't had the chance to watch USJ this year, what are their strengths and weaknesses this year??

The past two years DCA has been one of the toughest division games both years for the Spartans. They are well coached and play hard. However, I still think the Spartans are going to be too fast and too talented for DCA to slow them down. Webb 42 DCA 21

Yall played us two years in football and we rocked you both years and you wont play us anymore. I don't think Maryville realizes how fast Webb is on both offense and defense. The RB's, WR's, and DB's for Webb are just as fast and talented as anyone in the state. Everybody is talking about how Marville is so much bigger and has so many more players, but in the past, that has never been able to beat Webb. Going back to what was said earlier in this thread, Webb has not lost to a Knoxville public school in 10 years. All those public schools that Webb whooped up on were bigger and had twice as many players. Big schools are scared to play the small schools because it makes the big schools look bad when they get beat. With that said, my hat goes off to Maryville for agreeing to play Webb, and also to Webb for stepping up to the plate and agreeing to play Maryville when no one else would. Both these coaching staffs will have their players ready to go and it is going to come down to who wants it the most in the 4th quarter. This is going to be an awesome High School game with around 10,000 people in attendance. With that being said, I know the Spartans have been so jacked up for this game all summer and are looking forward to the challenge of knocking off the top dog in the state. Webb 38 Maryville 34

I would love to know where you got "that they heavily recruit a sizable number". That is so false and you have no idea what you are talking about.

But that is still the division they are supposed to be in. So who cares if they have more kids then 70% of the other schools? The classification lines were set and Webb went to the division that they were supposed to go in. Yes Webb did lose to Alcoa last time they played them and I said that Webb hasn't lost to a public school in ten years, but what I meant to say was a Knoxville public school, as in the KIL. My bad.

Yes you are playing Webb big boy and you all better be ready. Webb has not lost to a public school in ten years. Bearden, Powell, Austin East, West, Central, and Halls all learned that the hard way. Last time I checked Alcoa doesn't play anybody besides Maryville all year. Your next big game is CAK....they are horrible... and won't play Webb anymore in football after the two beat downs that the Spartans gave them. You play a 6a team(Maryville) and Webb plays a 5a team(Catholic)every year and then Webb tries to find two other public school teams around here that will play them. So you can't talk about who we play because Alcoa doesn't have the toughest schedule either. Webb has 400 students, that is why they play in that division. Guarantee Webb gives your tornadoes their toughest game of the year. Alcoa will find out why teams hate to play Webb.

Webb 31 St.Georges 14 Webb's overall team speed on the turf is going to be the difference in the game. Also, look for Wormsley to throw a couple touchdowns to either Liu or Wilhoite because im sure St.Georges will be putting a lot of players in the box to try and stop the run. Should be a great game to watch.
