  1. MBA doesn't "let kids in for academic reasons" like Ensworth does, thus, having to actually qualify and meet the same standards as everyone else that chooses to apply, I don't think Orleans would be accepted. The post you quoted was obviously a joke considering he is a senior. Also, posts like this are unwanted and unwelcome.
  2. I don't know how the "connection" went down as it was my understanding that he was researching both Ensworth AND Brentwood Academy, this led to him being recommended by an administrator at Mt. Pleasant about Ensworth. He also apparently did not like the atmosphere at BA and their school philosophies.
  3. I know he already has an upwards of 15 offers but it is pretty certain he will go to Alabama. One of the coaches was a Captain and All-SEC linebacker at Alabama and has carried a large influence. Plus it would be a good fit for him and he says he likes it.
  4. No MBA cannot. I see BA pulling this one out. They just have to much talent for this hurt MBA team on a "down" year.
  5. Yeah they are. I used to attend a lot of Williamson County games and Ensworth would run over almost all of those teams except for Brentwood and maybe Franklin which would be good games. In my opinion Ootelwah should be nationally ranked because I think they could possibly beat Ensworth. This is a very good team and they haven't even had to use the passing game and they aren't full healthy. MUS is also ranked nationally and they are really far up there (top 25)
  6. Final 35-27 Ensworth Wins! What a great game and a great comeback effort by Father Ryan! Ensworth pounded the ball eating up the clock while their passing game stalled. Father Ryan got a safety on a bad punt snap. Then a 52 yard field goal (!!!!!) to get 5 points going into the half to Darwka's 3 touch downs. The Ryan QB was throwing lasers out there hitting a lot of open receivers but he also took many sacks. Because of an EHS fumble at the end of a kick off and a muffed punt, Ryan was able to pull it close but Ensworth basically sealed it with a Great pick my So. #6 Rico Watson on a comeback route. Don't forget the back to back kick returns for touchdowns (FR then EHS). Both were great runs. Definitely a good game to remember! Also VERY similar to last years game.
  7. Are you a lawyer? Because you make one heck of a good and convincing bipartisan argument. Bravo on the good post.
  8. If the trend continues then Ensworth will claim the bye for DIIAA east/midde and MUS DIIAA west
  9. True, McFadden has gotten looks from coaches but he will probably not get any large interest until the season plays out because he was out last season with a torn ACL. Apparently coaches (not sure what school) were not impressed with the game film of Grigsby, however I believe that when the time comes he will end up playing at a school like MSTU, ETSU, TSU, UT-Martin. I know that the 2011 recruiting class is loaded all around the DII circuit.
  10. There is another problem. When you click on any of the links it goes to the page and there is a scroll down box at the top with the names of the schools. When you go to BGA it goes to some stat page and when you go to MUS it goes to the BGA page.
  11. Sorry I forgot about that. I meant that the receiving core and offensive line is back (minus a torn ACL) so the passing game should see some attention. That would help lighten Darkwa's work load.
  12. Yeah others like Ensworth's LB Myers Beaird is getting looks from small New England schools and Ivy leagues along with Center Teddy Reeve with with schools like Furman, Wofford, and so on. CB and WR Cory Sacks is getting attention from TCU. WR and S Jacob Carter from smaller school similar to Beaird. Those are just seniors at ensworth. Ensworth QB Cody Tollison has and offer from MSTU to play baseball there and may play some football. Also a surprising prospect out of Ensworth is Junior DT Miles Karro. A monster prospect at 5'7" 200 lbs with a sick spin move who recorded his first tackle against JP2. An all-around athlete who excels both on the field and in the classroom recording a 3.8 GPA. He is already getting looks from schools like Duke, Vandy, Wake Forrest, and Clemson.
  13. Im gonna have to go with a big win for Ensworth. Although Father Ryan has showed up on a couple occasions and is a good team this year, I just don't believe the have the skill or the coaching (MBA game) to stay in it. A player on our team was watching film today and I was seeing the absolute lack of defense that Ryan has. Defense is the reason teams like Oakland and BA kept it so close. Also I think Ensworth is completely healthy for the first time all season since Oakland. Ensworth 36 Ryan 17
  14. I have talked with him and he has a for sure offer from Army.
  15. Ensworth vs. JP2 (audio and video) ensworthlive.com
  16. Wow this has been an eye opening topic board. I would have never picked Baylor to beat BA, but it sounds like an educated and mostly unbiased majority predicts them winning. My question is if Baylor is favored in this game, would they have a good chance against Ensworth in couple weeks considering the Ensworth vs BA game?
  17. I wouldn't take a shot at his academics without looking at them. Yes, he does not have a 32-36 ACT but he is a bright kid who has a good GPA (somewhere in the low 3s I think) so his academics is not a problem, especially for a football player and the leniency schools give athletes. And as a few said earlier, Navy is one of the best academic schools in the nation and he got an offer from them so I don't think it's a problem. I think the reason is because of the strength of running backs in this current class and last years class. Many colleges got good RBs last year and have signed at least one this year so their rosters may be pretty full. Most colleges are looking to fill more depth at other spots this year. The reason Navy is interested is because they run a spread option with 2 WRs and 3RBs and they have looked at Darkwa to be a blocking back.
  18. Ricky did great things, unprecedented things, with marginal talent at MBA (e.g., the '94 bball team, the '94-'96 football teams). He took it to another level and won titles with exceptional talent, though the most noteworthy players on those teams from '99-'01 were coming to MBA whoever the coach was (i.e., Barton Simmons, Ingle Martin, Hunter Hillenmeyer)...so I'm not sure if I'd say the reason he won at MBA was purely because talent flocked to him, though to be sure it did once he was off and running, and to be sure he wanted more of it....It's interesting here that the talent flocked to him before he had a record at all at a school that's not even 10 years old. I had no doubt the talent would flock to him eventually, after he overachieved a couple of times with a crop of EMS kids. I remember reading something from a trader on Wall St. who said, "making lots of money here is easy, if all you care about is making money." Winning at football like this is also easy, if all you care about is winning at football. I don't see the problem with talent flocking someone from "out of town". EMS has less 8th graders than EHS has spots in 9th grade and on top of that a lot of the 8th graders don't go to EHS. The point of having a PRIVATE High School is to allow people from anywhere to get an education and exploit other opportunities like athletics and arts that they wouldn't be able to get with their public school system. Also there are very few big private schools outside Nashville (aside from Memphis and Chattanooga)for the kids from Dickson and Murfeesboro and so on to attend. Therefore the best talent in a hour or more radius is drawn to Nashville Private schools like MBA, EHS, and BA. Yes, sometimes there is a questionable call on a couple athletes, but the bottom line is the athlete is given a good academic education and good athletic education and in most private schools there are a few people who work on getting these student-athletes to the next level whether for academics or athletics. For most of these kids it is an opened door to a better life, and it would be irresponsible as human beings to deny kids this opportunity to turn their lives around and boost them to the next level. Even for those players who get "recruited" and "wasted/used" by their coaches still receive a decent or better education and they attend college 99% of the time. Lastly, if I were a top notch athlete and I lived in a rural area with a small and unknown football team, I would be on these boards and on the school websites searching for a place to go. For many people this is their only way to college and it shouldn't go to waste because they are trapped by geography and their parents jobs and income levels. I know that not all athletes come from this background but I am speaking for the majority which do.
  19. Who is the kid from texas? If you give me a name I can probably tell you.
  20. Look on Rivals. He got his first offer a few days ago from Army. More are soon to come.
  21. Correction: 158 carries for 1275 yards and 15 TD, 8.1 yards per carry and 255 yards per game.
  22. From what I heard i would have expected a larger deficit. Did Father Ryan have a bad game or did JP2 play really well? Is Ryan really all they are cracked up to be or was the game against BA a fluke? Is JP2 really as easy to beat as people are expecting?
  23. Considering last nights game between Ensworth and BA, I believe this rivalry will stem into something big (maybe not the biggest but definitely big). BA has stopped Ensworth the last two years in the Semi-Finals in close games. Last nights game was a close one and could control the seeding in the playoffs. Both are good teams with good coaches and are basically 5 miles from each other down the same road.
  24. BACK TO THE GAME! Ensworth pulls out the win 15-9. It was stalemate between two great teams. Great offensive and defensive plays on both sides (most of the defensive ones were ensworth). A traditional small to medium gain offense with long drives that ate up the clock. Throw in a few near misses on big pass plays and an interception for each team. Not very many penalties led to a clean game of football. Good sound game of fundamental football with great athletes and coaches on both sides.
  25. Good point. Actually more like 160 alumni.
