  1. D2A is the Myles kid from USN hands down. His stats are out of this world. Reminds me of John Jenkins at Vanderbilt. D2AA Corn Elder from Ensworth freshman. He is plays lock down defense, incredibly good handle of the ball, can drain a three from anywhere, can use shifty moves and drive to the basket, leads ensworth in assists, gets steals like none other, not to mention he is normally the best athlete on the court.
  2. For AA I would say Ensworth or possibly Christian Brothers, then McCallie, then MBA. In order of the chance they have to win.
  3. I think it is a very talented field out there and it all depends on which teams find their chemistry. For ensworth their post man Daniel McFadden is the leading scorer so I would say that he is pretty dominant.
  4. Most if not all the time it won't be a coach, it will be a parent(s) or graduate. The problem lies when the school doesn't dissuade the parents from such activities. I confused as to why a parent or graduate talking to a kid about going to a school is a problem. I would have found my private high school if it weren't for a friend of the family who told me I should go. However, if a person goes driving through a town and tries to pick up athletes and "convert" them, then that is a problem. But it shouldn't be illegal for people to talk to kids about attending their school for ANY reason. Private schools are like businesses because they don't have any kids that are required to go there, so they have to get the word out there to the good students, athletes, performers, etc., and let them know there is a school for them. Or would you rather they put up some billboards on the interstate?
  5. Mark Ruznak? No, this guy is built, 6" tall, tan, brown hair, and half asian of some sort. His name is like Michael Yu or something like that. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure.
  6. Michael (don't know his last name) from USN is very good at all his strokes, but definitely at backstroke. Swam against him last year and he blew the race out of the water
  7. Cornelius Elder from Ensworth is going to be the starting guard running the offense as a freshman so big shoes to fill after Tavarres Jefferson and Miles Asafo-Adjei.
  8. I am pretty sure you are talking about a kid named Graham? Tall and pale? I know his whole family is tall and I am positive that he is upwards of 6'7". As for fumbling the ball it may have just been a bad night for him, and as you said, I doubt their experienced coach will let that flaw go unnoticed.
  9. When Johnson heads to camps this summer his stock should rise considerably, looks similar to Tyler Bray. Some Highlights He looks good but definitely needs to gain a lot of weight so he can take some hits.
  10. Im 99% sure the BA quarterback is a senior and is graduating, but I could be wrong. I think Simonis from MBA will be very good and he is only a sophomore.
  11. Well I can confidently say that that next year MUS will not win the championship and I think their fans would agree. But there is also a lot of talent lost all throughout the league and not just MUS. Ensworth will be good next year with Anderson and Richardosn and MBA will be returning with Simonis and BA will have Victor Caro.
  12. Pretty good come back but you don't lose (respect) as much if you get beat by one of those teams. If you lose to Alcoa then its just that little 3a school that beat you. GET IT!! Losing by even 2TDs to one of those schools is a heck of a lot more impressive than beating Alcoa by 4 TDs. So your argument makes no logical sense to a person who's mind is not filled with aluminum.
  13. Okay this not the word coming from Ensworth. People at ensworth are either embarrassed still or have come to their wits and cheered for MBA or at least appreciated them. No one even complained about the coaching. Some of the best coaches are the ones who haven't formed habits and are open to new ideas and are flexible. Look at all the ancient coaches getting pushed out in college. It is because the game has changed and the best coaches are the up and coming ones. This is the word from ensworth.
  14. Never, ever, ever, gonna happen. I know I said this at the beginning of the season, but the interest in Division II can't compare to Division I, as far as interest in the games go. I can't believe that coach t isn't at least a small indicator of fan support and ya'll have 4 or 6 pages on the championship games and all the other games in the classes above have 50 or 60 or 70 or 80. Get the fans and TSSAA will follow or get your own organization or figure out some way to get back into Division I. I would love to see a game between Maryville and MBA,or Alcoa and MUS, or Columbia and Brentwood Academy, or Giles County and BGA, or Union City and Webb, etc. You people are supposed to have money and power and influence......use it and quit fussing.
  15. Not sure where your getting your initial observation (though I understand the judges are giving credit for the answer "An enormous well of bitterness.") It was a one TD lead in the 4th quarter and 2 TD's with 8 minutes left, pretty similar to how things looked against your team at the same point. Recall, if you will, how that turned out. That said, clearly the better team won. MUS doesn't look at all impressive: they're not especially big. Going back to the '70's, they look like a modest AA team. I probably wouldn't have to look very long to find a larger 9th grade team. But their execution is impressive. Aside from a late hit out of bounds on the first possession (probably nerves more than malice), they made no real mistakes. MBA had their chances, and certainly the weather favored them (Brunetti couldn't have been at all comfortable out there). MBA really only made one mistake of any consequence. But MUS didn't make any. Congratulations to an outstanding MUS team on a well-deserved championship. And congratulations to a very scrappy and overachieving MBA team. Excellent game and excellent season. This was a great and sad game to watch. Though I go to Ensworth, I was pulling hard for MBA. This was a great display by both teams minus MBA getting the flu almost every time they got in the Red Zone. I was thoroughly impressed with MBA's QB and some of the amazing and clutch passes he made to Tanner, Mobley, and Bars who had minimal drops. Lassing really tore it up from every position tonight and showed why he is the best all-around player on the field. Enough cannot be said about the precision and mechanics of this MUS team. As you pointed out they hardly have anybody over 210 pounds besides their offensive line, but they are the most football knowledgeable and skilled players. I don't know if that is a result of coaching or just the way they are, but that is what elevates them to an elite status. Brunetti is just to good for this level of football. Yes he made a couple errant throws, but normally he threw on the dot bullets to the proper receiver and the threw the secondary off with his eyes and body movement. He will make a big impact at the next level. Also his receivers and running backs are very good and always were on the same page with him. They seem like a well oiled machine. All in all I think the two teams who deserved it made it to the championship and it was a great game.
  16. So since forming DII in 1997 this is the first year that anyone has expressed interest in televising the DII championship football game? I really find that hard to believe....next excuse please!!! WNPT Nashville does NOT have the game listed on their schedule. That 1A South Pittsburg vs. Union City game will be on TV at noon Friday so that makes me feel better. Ya'll are misunderstanding what he said. He meant that a broadcasting company has not expressed interest in producing it. I'm pretty sure he understands that there are people who want to watch it.
  17. There is no way McGugin would leave MBA. You can only have so much coaching talent at one school until the coaches start having problems with each other.
  18. Find out tonight at the presentation.
  19. Send an email to pgawad@comcast.net. Thanks!
  20. I'm pretty sure there are none. The TSSAA makes money off the TV so only audio is allowed by the schools broadcast groups.
  21. You had it all right until that last line. The dirt is not all the same at all. I bet someone with more in depth knowledge can give you the facts. It will definitely be different than the other fields if when making it they had to bring in outside dirt. How compact it is, the crowning of the field, and the age of the field all matter.
  22. Yeah he definitely isn't an MBA fan, they have a little more class. Look at his posts.
  23. What is this story with helicopters? How could a school afford this?
  24. Voting was already completed before the playoffs, so that will have no effect. Also voting was done before Brunetti got invited to the Army game.
