  1. Comp, That was a good read. I enjoyed watching your son play. True to your words about Stacy, you son ran the way he coached. I loved watching him lower his shoulder and deliver the hits. How is he doing? TTR
  2. Is there a reason they are waiting until Wednesday?
  3. I've got it from a good source in the JC-SHHS athletic system that the announcement is coming Wednesday. From what he said the decision is made.
  4. I mentioned earlier #5 looked for his first option and if that wasn't open, he took off. Against Beech he tried to force it. CC could not take advantage of their opportunities. And this was a game of opportunities.
  5. Columbia's defense totally took South out of their offensive game. Their D flew to the ball and I think a few South offensive players got intimidated. #30 (to me) was a better linebacker than RB. South dropped some catchable passes and the holding penalty (to me) was bogus. South didn't run a play in their territory until around the 8 min mark in the third quarter. Their D played well enough to win. But, Columbia was ready to play and Friday night was the better team. I will say this...it was noticed that the Columbia QB goes with his first pass option, if he isn't open #5 takes off. He throws a great pass but I thought South covered well, especially on the deep ball. South also made 8-9 tackles for loss and created some turnovers. Columbia offense proved it could move the ball but their scores in the second half came off two turnovers and drives of 46 and 12 yards (fg). The last TD was after South turned it over on downs and South was tackling the football as the game was over at that point. I don't know about Beech...but Columbia can certainly win the game...but they aren't unbeatable. Columbia has won all their playoff games on their home field...they get out of that comfort zone this week. In this game, the throats tighten and individual fear of failure creeps in...the team that overcomes that pressure and protects the football wins...

  8. Is anyone interested in trading texts from the Mitchell/Beech game? I will be attending the South vs Columbia game. We can text after each score or when necessary. Thanks...if you are interested please contact me at: staffone1@vzw.blackberry.net
  9. Hello. I do radio for Sullivan South football. Is anyone interested in texting scores from the AC/Columbia game and in return I will text the SS/ Boone score. If you are interested please contact me @ staffone1@vzw.blackberry.net. Thanks...
  10. Bull Run was a Rebel rout. Expect the bulls to keep running. Both Bull Runs were Rebel routs....the second was close to a massacre...so this will be Bull Run II?
  11. CAP, I would love to see CP in Orange and White. This area needs a star at UT. It would do it well. But I do concur with the other poster, CP does not fit the mold of the Kiffin QB. But CP is heads and tails and shoulders above Crompton. He is painful to watch...but regardless, I will be there Friday night. TTR
  12. Will Coach Carter remember 2006 in effect of the final score? SS got pasted pretty good.
  13. My point exactly CAP1. At least CSC used CP. He used him all the way to a full ride at Wisconsin and I'm betting UT wished they had gone at him a bit harder. Stubbs should do the same with Shepard...
  14. I am not a doctor though I have stayed at a few Holiday Inn Expresses. While most do "loathe" DB, it has hard to argue with their longevity of success. I tend to agree that most "hate" or "loathe" what they don't have and others do. Why are they down, not sure...but both teams were off last week and both will be well enough this week. South fans enjoy our success under Coach Carter. He wins many games and his offenses are very productive for HS. If CSC had Keenan Shepard, holy cow. Stubbs misuses the offense talent he has. Stubbs is too old school to stay up with CSC. That tidbit is for the THS trollers who lurk behind the scenes. For some reason I just think field position is going to be a big key. DB has to unbalance the field. I am not sure they can out "firepower" South. #12 is a very capable QB but I think CSC is wary that #7 took a pounding the first few games and he can't afford that again. #2 and #24 must step up and break tackles and turn those three yard runs in to seven or more. South operates best with Second and short yardage..If South does get backed up and they can't run it...well... If CGC stays at a Holiday Inn Express he might just put two guys back to field punts. One about 25 yards from the line of scrimmage and another about 35-40. Tell them to catch the ball. Do not let it hit the turf...#10 gets good yardage with the end over end bouncing of the ball. At GCity one is kicked 5 yards , hits a GCity player and SS turns that drive into a TD. What kind of break is that? The kind of break DB must avoid. If that doesn't happen there, GCity has the ball around the 50...it wouldn't have mattered but football is a game of breaks...and that was a big break. It is all dependent on DB keeping South out of good field position. DB has to have breaks, make breaks or however to win this game. They must make South play sloppy. South just has too many weapons and too good a D. Running Sensabaugh up the middle 30 times is like throwing raw meat to crazed dogs hungry for someone to jump that junkyard fence. #10, #33 and #56 are too good. CGC also knows these trick plays can misfire and well as hit the target. Not sure how many trick plays we will see. I am not sure Catfish has the athletes on D to adjust well enough to stop South. DB must play rope a dope...play with a short field...create breaks...if not...they won't win. TTR
  15. Reading some of this stuff is hilarious. What happened in the past doesn't matter Friday night. What happened with Boone doesn't matter Friday night...I will deviate here...at Boone South was emotionally drained. What they didn't lose emotionally during the week after the West game, they left on the field vs. Greeneville. They had nothing left, hence all the mistakes and miscues but regardless they found a way. They were down 21-7 and scored two straight TD's. I thought it funny the Boone coach said they had South but he never admitted it was his coaching guffaws that cost his team the game. They got up and he panicked...and that is SSouth....better coaching. If your team keeps it close, he will still win by outcoaching you... This is a rivalry and what is on paper doesn't matter. South has to run the FB. I hadn't heard about #7 playing but if he does, he cannot carry the ball 30 times. There has to be more production from the tailback position than 3.9 YPC. In a way, DB can defend the pass and dare South to beat them running. #12 hasn't really carried the ball much but he has two long runs so he can beat you. He is a good athlete but his playing QB hurts the receiving corps. DB needs to play good field position. They need to take advantage of SS weak kicking game. #10 is a great linebacker but average punter. If DB can back up South, field the punts they can win the field position game. With that said I like #26 for SS kicking field goals. DB needs to eliminate the big plays from South. SS has had plays of 78, 63, 58, 40, plus FUM returns and INT return. South likes the big play... #33 for South and #10 will need big games and I am not forgetting #56. They need to break Sensabaugh down and make Roop beat them. DB hasn't had a decent passer since Burton's senior year. If they can break down Sensabaugh and put pressure on Roop....the DB O may not score. SS has 8 or so sacks this year. I think South can win a couple of ways...but they lived on the big play last year and are living on it this year...DB has to eliminate them. DB has to keep the South O off the field and win the field position battle. They have to make South impatient and make a young QB starting his 3rd game make bad decisions. If South can run the ball and then mix it up....and then pop a few big plays which is the MO, it will be a long night for DB... I am guessing here....the ticket to ride is South 28 DB 7
