While Bobby's 4.55 40 time is not blazing, height was more the issue for colleges. He couldn't have stayed at DB because he never went to DB. Nor was he supposed to.

There are very good and valid reasons why Jordan is in the backfield and why Garvin is at receiver. Watching practices, freshmen and JV games over the last few years have shown who needs to be where. The coaches see it every single day so they are in the "best" position to make the call. Sometimes they are wrong (gasp) and some (Haynie) admit it when they are (see Jay Conkin - 2010 - who flourished)and make the move. But, wholesale changes don't need to be made by position right now. Continued practice and experience with everyone in their spot will bring the improvement. Look back at film and you will see that early in the season, the play that everyone is harping on of sending the tailback in to the middle of the line (including the Spin Dr. era) was not as successful early in the year (possible exception being the Science Hill game in 2009). Someone on here asked about the pitchout and we saw that implemented last year at midseason and that helped open things up for a while. (Only to disappear when it could have helped in late November.) The passing game will continue to improve as well. You mention that JC didn't get the ball enough and that may well be. But, you don't mention that Rowland made some catches that were impressive across the middle and Steffey as well. I've seen both games and seen positive things in both games. There are problems, but I have confidence in this coaching staff and know that this team will be competitive. I'll be there supporting again Friday night as I'm sure you will be as well. Go Rebels!

Went by and looked at the new visitor's stands earlier today. One new section in the endzone. the main section does go to about the 35 yard line. They are much nicer than the old ones and are permanent. We were told that they will also put additional temporary seats beside those, which will basically be in what is the baseball outfield.

Turner would have done well. But then he would probably be gone in a couple of years or so. The decision seems to have been made to make progress quickly but also to build a program and maintain a coaching staff for more than three years. Word is (rumor) that he also asked that they find a way for him to coach and not have to have a teaching position. Couldn't happen.

In my view at least three of those are lacking. 4. Go Rebels. 1. He's been leading the defense for several years. He seems to have done a pretty good job. Always room for improvement but there are a lot of teams who would be happy to have had the success the Rebels have had. 2. Never said no one should be a dissenter. Stronger and faster by all reports. Word is that Coach Haynie's conditioning program makes Sgt. Carter's seem like it was "milk and cookies with nap time stuff". Haynie's got a lot to prove. I hope he sticks it to all the naysayers. It would be tasty to come out with another killer D line. 1. Haynie has nothing to prove. He is an excellent coach and has already proven that. What he has to do is implement his ideas and make his mark as a head coach. 2. He doesn't have to stick it to any naysayers. He has to coach and ignore the naysayers. (And do those naysayers have any credibility anyway?) 3. A killer D line would be nice....and a killer O line...and a solid passing/running game....and speed at receiver and DBack positions...and killer special teams... 4. Rebel Nation!

B Taylor has offers but is still making visits. Have heard mention of Tusculum, Brevard, Western Carolina, Emory & Henry, UVA Wise, Centre and some others.

Things have changed in the last 24 hours. Some of the assumptions of a "done deal" involving either Turner or Carter will not happen. Requests that were made by the candidates were not possbile. Turner, Carter or Overbey are all good choices for SHHS but the choice was made clearer after the final interviews and certain of the requests could not be met. The post that referenced a lot of community support for Turner behind the scenes was spot on. The rumors that Carter is now in will cause a stir among those supporting Turner, but given the opportunity, Carter will quickly win them over. However, they know Overbey firsthand and could have thrown their support to him in the last couple of days. It's a guessing game now and I still am not convinced that it is Stacy. Oh well, we'll find out soon.

I have been to the football banquet every year during Carter's regime and this one was no different than any other. He wants the focus on the Senior boys as a reward for their hard work and accomplisments. I thought he handled things well knowing that every one was wondering about the future. Better no comment than to have to back track if things change.

Hey Crawdad. It would be THE coach. And maybe Tuesday it will be KiffinMuffins. That would be the new CROW. I would be amazed if THE position comes open that it would be filled by anyone other than one of our own. Having said that ,I am hoping Coach Haynie stays. If he were to leave and two positions opened, maybe Coaches Seeger and Winchell could slide into Rebel blue and bring their stellar athlete sons with them! How's that for making lemonade outta lemons? I've been telling you for weeks, it's gonna be Turner at Science Hill. I'll tell you why after it's announced. If something changes with Turner's situation at CN this week then that will change things. Otherwise it's Turner.

First half of the season BT struggled with a thigh and foot injury. Last few weeks has been a different story. I think the eggs will be spread to several baskets. There's one that's been a little quiet the last few weeks in the receiver corps that I think will be in the limelight again this week. Ain't it fun?

Thanks, for something i already knew...but i guess you need to go watch the game again since you forgot who beat you all. I didn't forget. But I have forgotten who you're playing this week? No one... but it is pretty hard to brag about beating a team in the playoffs that is about the same caliber as Volunteer. I'm sure Maryville will play someone of higher caliber this week though and then they can brag........roll tribe.
