  1. Smash, Monterey did appear to be very well coached. You know their kids have to be tough considering the region they play in. Overall they were very respectful bunch. I agree & hope Coach May unleashes his offense this year cause he definitely is loaded w/the weapons to light up some scoreboards this year. The punter was Zach Terry (Cheese), same punter from last year. That was a great punt & I hope to have good punts this year just not very many of them.
  2. Actually Smash the score was 36-8. They were doing 2pt conversion plays after each score & we failed on 2 attempts. Bear scored the 1st play from scrimmage. Cheetah had a long catch for a TD & Houston scored 3 TD's & he had another one called back. Dannon didn't have one called back but he did have some great runs. Bear, Cheetah & Houston's TD's is 5 total scores. Trevor was also a load running up the middle. Our line does have some work to do but so does the rest of the team. Overall it was a good effort by all & a nice return debut for TL. Can't wait til the season starts now.
  3. Actually Sledge & I are both wrong. I asked him the last time I saw him & said he finished like 2nd or 3rd & that he had a horrible start. I'm betting w/a good start that he'd have been challenging for the win but those 2 aren't the only speedsters on the team. Bear, Dannon & Noah have good speed on the skill side & on the lineman side there is Adam & Christian to name a few.
  4. Smash if you recall last year @ the AC Jamboree, Trevor Allen won the fastest lineman race & Houston West won the fastest back race & that was going up against Campbell Co, AC, Clinton & Wartburg so we're fast regardless of whether Cheetah is out there or not. He was fast in middle school but I'm not so sure he is the fastest on the team. We have some speed on this team. Let people think we are slow. We'll just surprise them when they play us.
  5. Yes I'm pretty sure they do unless something has happened from last years schedule. If it hasn't changed it will be @ Oneida this year.
  6. Who do you think brought Brewster to Oneida in the first place? Tony. Don't start badmouthing TL when you have no clue what you are talking about. Brewster may have taken his team to the quarter finals but there was more than that taken into consideration when the change was made.
  7. Maybe the situation wasn't handled wrong. Maybe the people who made the decision knew a lot more than what they divulged & just chose not to bring all their facts out & give John the opportunity to leave w/no baggage & still secure a job somewhere else. The best thing everyone can do is just let it go before people get tired of hearing about & start slinging mud about some of the stuff that was really going on. I'm sure there are plenty of people w/kids that played for him that could give an ear full to back up this but most chose to just let it go now that it's all over with. If you had no access to the team & were just a fan then you probably had no idea but even then you should have been able to see some glaring problems on the field that desperately needed addressed. Regardless, you can't cry over spilled milk. Just clean it up & move on. That's what everyone seems to be doing, including John since he already has a new job. The only place that I still hear people complaining about it is on here. Everyone needs to just wait on the new hire & give whoever it is their full support cuz they would've had nothing to do w/any of this anyway & this team is LOADED w/all kinds of potential under the right leadership.
  8. Well I've got more than one source on it but I guess if the "horse" says it isn't true then that's the gospel. I wouldn't own up to it either if I couldn't do any better than that. Why would our coaches make up something so ridiculous to tell our kids? Doesn't have any bearing on how they play or motivate them in any way. Just shows incompetence or lack of morals from an opposing coach. No skin off the kids' backs. We're not gonna use it as any kind of excuse regardless of the outcome but it does seem a bit petty this far into things. Oh well. Moving on!
  9. Just saying if you don't wanna exchange film that's fine. Just man up & say so & don't be jerking somebody's chain. Film can be gotten from other schools but there's a kind of unwritten code that you exchange film w/the opposing team. My point is a mistake can be made. Everybody is human but when it takes 3 times to get a film on the current year something is fishy. I don't think our kids need any extra motivation. If they aren't motivated by the Quarterfinals then I'd say there's no hope for them.
  10. It doesn't matter what happened to the game film from the 1st game. If you exchange film again for another game, then you should be given a game film from the current year. It's just good ethics. You shouldn't have to do it 3 times to get it right. I have family on the team & they told me the same thing last nite. It doesn't matter how much mutual respect you have for each other or lack there of, you should still do the right thing or just refuse to exchange film @ all. Anyway, good luck Indians & I hope it's a clean game w/no injuries on either team.
  11. Yeah it is neat for Sunbright's boys that they beat both of them but maybe Oneida & OZ choked against Sunbright like Sunbright did against Wartburg. I really don't think Sunbright is that much better than Oneida or OZ. I think they were the best team on those particular nights but it might be a different story if played again. It happens all the time that the team that wins the 1st meeting fails to do so the 2nd time around. Everybody can have a bad nite occasionally. Even the mighty TC is capable of it. Look what happened w/them & Friendship Christian. Sorry you all got beat in the 1st round. Good luck next yr.
  12. Thanks pujo. I enjoyed talking to you before & after the game. Glad we got support from good people like you & the Hampton bunch. We got your back too!
  13. Shocker, Sunbright did have a good team for the past 2 yrs but no more than Sunbright has ever beaten Oneida or OZ in the history of those series I don't think I'd be crowing too loudly til they start making a habit of it. They haven't shown in the past that they can do it but every once in a while. Oneida & OZ both have dominated Sunbright over the yrs. Don't be a hater just cuz Sunbright went out in the 1st round. Support your district or don't say anything if you don't support either of them. You ever that old saying - "If you can't say anything good then don't say anything @ all?" Nobody wants to hear your negative comments. Both of these teams have worked to get where they are but if you wanna be that way then I guess I should point out that Sunbright couldn't keep up w/the mighty Bulldogs of Wartburg which Oneida & OZ BOTH beat.
  14. Thanks knoit! Good luck to both teams. Hope we have a good hard hitting game w/no injuries on either team & that the winner makes a deep run in the playoffs.
  15. Pujo do you all have a local radio station that will be broadcasting the game for anybody that likes to listen to the radio broadcast while watching the game?
  16. Hey Smash, I hate to pour salt in an open wound but that's not the 1st time. I would've thought so too if I hadn't heard the trivia question on the radio after the game. The question was what is the longest winning streak that Sunbright has ever had over the Indians? The answer was 4 & I think it was back in the early 1950's. Out of 55 games Oneida has won 41 of them & 17 in a row from 1956 to 1977. We have had too much dominance over them in this series to be going backwards @ this point so we need to get our act together. However, I tip my hat to them as well. They have a fine program right now.
  17. I don't think you can assume OZ or Oneida either one will get a bye till OZ beats Wartburg or Oneida beats Sunbright. Till either of those things happen it's all just speculation @ this point.
  18. Hey don't pay this guy any attention. He's about as annoying as OleTiger from Sunbright. Just another troll trying to make a school look bad. He doesn't speak for the majority of us @ Oneida.
  19. That's great news pujo. I'm glad u got that much confidence in us. We got a pretty good bunch this year but we're not getting much respect in the polls. That's ok though because we may sneak up on some people that way. I like the underdog role. Keeps the boys ego in check & also makes them hungry to work harder. Anyways, looking forward to the game & good luck to your dogs. Sounds like you all have a pretty good bunch this year too. Maybe we'll see you later this season if we both get to the playoffs.
  20. I can't believe it's Wednesday already & nobody has started a thread for this game yet. I hope the injured player from CG is ok & will be back soon. Always hate to see a player injured especially when it's spinal related. Best wishes to him, his family & team mates. Anyway, what is everyone's opinion on this week's game? I think Oneida takes it in a tough fought game.
  21. Hey orngnblk, you know there is a lot of mutual respect between Greenback & Oneida. There have been some classic games & some blowouts in both directions. That Seymour kid is an outstanding back. Don't pay any attention to some "OleTiger" wannabe. He doesn't represent the Oneida faithful opinion of your team. Good luck to your team the rest of the season.
  22. Well that sounds pretty similar to our offensive mentality but we have some pretty good receivers IF we throw it to them. Should make for an interesting game. I can't wait.
  23. Well if we use it then it's pretty good but I guess it depends on how the offensive coordinator feels. We tend to get conservative @ times but we showed what it is capable of during our pre-season scrimmages & the jamboree @ Anderson County. How is your passing game?
  24. Bud we are pretty loaded w/talent this year. Pretty good team speed, size, athleticism & fairly decent depth. If the coaching staff can put together some good game plans this year we should be a tough out for anybody on our schedule. We might not win every game but whoever lines up against our boys better be ready for 4 quarters of football cause they play their hearts out. Ask Greenback how tough these guys are. They had us down 14 points twice Friday night & we fought back both times to tie them & take it to overtime only to lose a heart breaker.
