  1. No one, and I mean no one in the county has a worse feeder program at the middle school level than Beech. So to use that as a reason of no success just does not hold water. Also, now Portland is having to live in the boat that Beech was in for many years, being one of the smaller schools playing in the upper divisions. It is difficult to be competitive at times when schools with more students have a larger population of students to draw their players from. That being said, it is not impossible. The truth of the matter is Portland's talent level is down and is just not at a level where they can be competitive. As far as coaching is concerned, you lost a great coach in Coach Perry and replaced him with someone who was not up to the task. Nothing against the previous coach, facts are just facts. Now you have made a coaching change and a change in districts. No more Macon County and Dekalb Co. on the schedule. Players must be willing to work hard. Coaches have to work harder and fans have to be more realistic with what you have in Portland right now.
  2. I don't know if it is filled or not, but all I can say is realistically, who would want the job? No fan support. Average players at best. Lukewarm administration support. You are in one of the tougher regions in the state. Let me clarify one thing, fan support as long as you win or play the booster kids, elsewise, no support only criticism and complaining. Parents cursing you in front of your family in the stands. Terrible benefits from the county. Wilson County is not the best place in Middle TN to work as a teacher, much less as a football coach. Aric was the head football coach there what 5 years? Didn't he have winning records in 3 out of those 5 years? Maybe he did make some mistakes, but who doesn't? Oh, right mom and dad sitting in the stand and their perfect little angel "Johnny" who the mean coach will not give a chance to show what he can do. Never mind the fact that coaches look at these kids everyday at practice and in reality spend more time with them than their parents. Wake up WC people, the truth is WC is nothing more than a stepping stone job to bigger and better things.
  3. As a former Buccaneer and coach, I just wanted to say congrats to Coach Crabtee, his staff, and the players at BHS. To do what you have done is incredible. You guys have done what many people over many years said could not be done and that was to win the 'big' game. And as a side note, I know that BHS is really in Shackle Island, but isn't it nice that the first state football championship 'in Hendersonville' is in orange and white and not on the other side of the tracks. Go Bucs.
  4. Awesome win for the Bucs. Congrats to Coach Crabtree and his staff and to all the Orange and White in Shackle Island. Finish the job you have started. I bet the hill was rocking tonight.
  5. This situation reminds me of another time a team from Memphis brought the 'greatest show on turf' to the hill. 1995 seems like a long time ago, but I was there when Mem. Westwood came in and all we heard was how the Bucs had no chance at all. To make a long story short, Bucs won and Mem. Westwood spent one hour trying to get off the field to their busses, getting through the few fans they brought to Shackle Island. Their own fans where belittling them for getting hammered by the Bucs. Now I know that none of that is relevant now, but it just goes to show that you do not underestimate the Bucs, especially when they are playing on the Hill. Best of luck Coach Crabtree and the BHS Bucs.
  6. While I have not seen this years Bucs play, it would be hard for me to think that any team BHS has put on the field since 1996 could play with the 95 semi-finalist. Corlew had 1900 yds rushing, Sadler had 1400 yds. rushing and Harris threw for over 1000 yds. They could hurt you from any direction at anytime. They are the best team in BHS history. Now, Good Luck to the Bucs tonight. Beat the Green Wave.
  7. Good luck Bucs. As a former member of the BHS family, I know what those two victories over the Green Wave several years ago meant to the program and the community. You always know that when you are playing Gallatin you are playing the best and one of the top class programs around. I have much respect for Coach Lassiter and his staff and team. Coach Crabtree has done a tremendous job rebuilding the BHS program and making it what it is today. Hopefully, the Bucs can get win #3 over the Green Wave in the series.
  8. What has happened to the game field at BHS? I remember it always being on of the best kept in the county? I know that middle TN has had a tremendous amount of rain, so is that the problem? Anyway, from a former Buc, good luck to night Hville.
  9. Great win for the Bucs last night against a very good MJ team. Hats off to Coach Crabtree and his staff for the excellent season they have had so far. Now, I suppose for the first time in history the orange and white will actually be pulling for the cross town black and gold. What a weird world that is. Congrats to Coach Perry and the MJ staff on a great season and best wishes to both schools in the playoffs.
  10. Glad to see that WC got a much needed victory last night. Finish strong against Portland and begin to build for next year.
  11. Great win Bucs. Continue the control of the city championship trophy. Actually, do they still even have that thing? Anyway, the point is you get to enjoy this one for a day, then get ready for a tough MJ team.
  12. With the Bucs having won 6 of the last 8, it is hard to say that Hville dominates the series. Good Luck Orange and White and Coach Crabtree and the rest of the BHS staff.
  13. Just an observation from someone who truly has no dog in the fight; while things may not be going as well as anyone associated with WC football would like, change in the middle of the season is the worst approach to take. As a coach, you try and make it to the end of a season then spend the off season evaluating your systems. I am sure that Coach Aric is as unhappy with the performance of his team so far, but perhaps he learned something in his previous experience as a head coach. If the change in the offensive scheme is wrong, then I am sure that at the end of the season Coach Aric and his staff, if he is still at WC, will look at everything and make the needed changes. What is sad is when parents who should be supporting their children get on an open forum and bad-mouth other players or the coaches. All that does is spread the dissent. Best of luck to WC the rest of the season and to Coach Aric in the future.
