  1. Will Coach Eiskamp be coaching the Greeneville girls this year? I heard he had resigned from the boys team.
  2. Tusculum College team soccer camp. July 19th-23rd. For more info call Coach Mike Joy @ 423-636-7300
  3. Has nothing to do with like..just stating the facts of what happened. I've known their coach for years, even worked with her and then when she lost, she didn't have the decency to speak to me. In any games, there are winners and losers. I've been on both sides. Sure losing is tough, but don't blame the coaches when your players don't step up to the game and put 100% in it.
  4. well akula...South Greene & Chuckey doak are rivals in many sports, especially soccer. CDHS was the #1 seed in the district after TSSAA allowed them and Elizabethton to come back into the district tournament. SG was #4 seed and went to CD to play. SG scored first, and second. CDHS came back and scored 2 goals in 3 minutes. SG's sweeper came up took the ball in the 78th minute and took it all the way to the goal. SG's defense held off CD and won knocking the #1 seed off. SG then went to Elizabethon to play for the district tournament. Elizabethon had beat SG 8-0 and 10-1 during the season. Elizabethon was happy because 1. they wouldnt' have to travel to CDHS and play them, 2. because they thought SGHS would be easy picking. Elizabethton came out and scored 2 goals in the matter of 10 minutes. SGHS didn't give up, and at the half it was 2-1. SGHS came back and tied it up 2-2. There was a controversial goal by SGHS but was taken away by the sideline ref (don't know his name but was very unprofesionssional by arguing with the asst ref of SGHS). Anyway the two teams went 2-10 minute overtime halves, then went into sudden death, when Eliz finally connected with a goal, winning 3-2. SG & Eliz played 103 minutes to a sudden death, both these teams deserved to be there. CDHS's coach then proceeded to spread around her school that SGHS had brought in ringers for the tournament, which was untrue. There were players who came in late in the season but way before district tournament time. In fact they had played at Elizabethton when they were beaten 10-1. It's kind of funny that she raised such a fit when the fight broke out with them and Elizabethon, but the same player who was 'involved' in the fight at Elizabethon, was given his second red card and removed for the season the next week in a match with Daniel Boone. He has been repeatedly warned by the sideline ref to keep his elbows down and out of the other team's backs. These seems to be the way it started at Elizabethton too. So as Paul Harvey says, now you know the rest of the story.....
  5. Should be interesting to see how some of the teams will do. Elizabethton always puts on a good game, and it will be interesting to see how Greeneville does by playing down. Don't count out the other teams...South Greene, CDHS, Grainger, Cosby, Cumberland Gap, University High, and if J. Frank White has a boys team. After all...SGHS was 0-6 in their district and knocked off CDHS #1 seed to play in the district tournament first time in school history. Anything can happen in the tournament (even if you are accused of bringing ringers in, which is hard to do when the players have been there for over 2 weeks). Guess some are just sore losers. good luck to all the teams.
  6. Elizabethton 3 South Greene 2...sudden death
  7. CDHS was only down one player, and that was because he was given his 2nd red card of the season for pushing and elbowing a player from behind. He was warned by the sideline ref and continued this and received the red card. CDHS had no other players out. Elizabethton didn't even sub against SGHS in the tournament, which went to sudden death. They had all their starters in the whole game. CDHS just got outplayed by SGHS, because SG wanted it more than CD did. SGHS and Eliz. went 103 minutes and it came down to sudden death. Both teams gave it their all. A big thanks to all the fans, parents, soccer team, athletic director and players of Elizabethton. SGHS received a warm welcome and was treated with the upmost respect before, during and after the game. I have nothing but high praise for Coach Bill McClay and his team. I wish them the best of luck against Union Co. and hope to see them in the Regional Tournament. Coach K
  8. The #4 seed South Greene Rebels knocked off the #1 seed Chuckey-Doak Black Knights last night in first round of District Tournament 3-2 at CDHS. This was the biggest victory for the Rebels, going 0-6 in districts and CDHS being 5-0 going in the tournament. Rebels travel to Elizabethton Friday for the District Championship at 6:00. Congratulations!
  9. A couple of years ago Riverdale was preparing for the playoffs when they found out the back-up goalie had been playing in a rec league. Cost the whole team postseason play. It's unfortunate to the players that did nothing wrong, but I don't see them overturning this. Same thing happened a few years ago with softball...players were playing in town leagues, whole team suffered because they had to forfeit... If tssaa overrules their decision, will we ever be able to believe them for anything again? Why make a decision and not stick by it? ..just a thought...
  10. The appeal takes place today at 11:00 in Maryville. If they overturn the appeal, then CDHS will play SGHS at home on Wed and EHS will take on UH. The winners will face each other on Friday for the championship. If the ruling stands, then UH and SG will face off for the championship on Thursday at UH at 6:30. I have to agree to some what about punishing the whole team. Why should the 'good' players suffer for those who were involved? Make them set out during the tournament. As a coach I have stake in this decision, but like to look at all aspects of it. Heard that one of CDHS's players who was involved got his 2nd red card the other night versus Daniel Boone, so he is out the rest of the season anyway.
  11. I have looked in the soccer rule book and there is no exact answer to what role everyone plays. The only thing for sure is that a player, coach, or bench personnel shall be cautioned for entering or leaving the field of play without the permission of an official, persistent infringement of any of the rules of the game; objecting by word of mouth or action to any decision given by an official. We, as coaches have been told if a fight breaks out, keep on the sidelines and keep your bench off the field.
  12. It's stories like this that makes me happy to be a coach. It's good to know we have teams that do show sportsmanship and care about other teams. It's not all about who scores, it's the teamwork and getting the job done. Thanks for sharing this one! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. South Greene has 5 freshmen, 6 sophomores, 3 juniors and 4 seniors. All 6 sophomores and at least 2 freshmen start every game...graduated 7 seniors last year, lost 3 other players. Makes it hard starting over
  14. Carter said he expected the TSSAA to announce a decision no later than Wednesday. " I truly hope they will make a decision by today. The other 2 teams in the district are waiting on this outcome as well as CDHS and Elizabethton. Both teams, SGHS and UH have to make accomodations for who they will play in the district tournament.
  15. It clearly states that if a coach comes onto the field without the acceptance of a ref, they will be carded. In my opinion I believe both coaches were trying to keep that from happening and letting other players into the brawl. I hope Elizabethton fans do not judge ALL Greene County teams by what happened with Chuckey-Doak. Some coaches teach respect and understanding to their players and demand that from them. If they do not get it, they take care of it in practice. I have known Coach McClay for the past 5 years and have never had any problems with playing his team. He always has an outstanding team and starting as a young soccer coach, I have the upmost respect for him as a coach. He has always treated me with respect and I admire his hard work from him and his team. I also have known Coach Ricker for numerous years, even before she was a coach. Her team works hard as well. If the refs had stopped the first two players, then I believe the other players wouldn't have had to get involved. Of course team mates are going to stick up for each other no matter what is going on. I hope this decision will be rendered soon and handled in a timely manner. 16. is it true one of Science Hill's players got a red card and the coach put him back in the next day with a different jersey?
  17. I heard there were some problems with one of Science Hill games? Anybody got any info on that?
  18. So any picks on South Greene's and Happy Valley's game on Friday?
  19. So you call those scores a slaughter? Not bad for a second year team at SG. SG beat Pittman 6-4. Not bad for them either. First time in history to do that. Elizabethton play AAA in other sports, why not soccer?
  20. And they got beat by South Greene 6-4, which must have been a shocker to them too.
  21. Anybody got any predictions for this game tonight?
  22. University High 5 South Greene 2 SG's defense gave up two unnecessary goals in the second half...the team is coming together, but still have a way to go. Not bad for a first year team to actually score not once but twice.
  23. Jerry in East TN....he's fair, uplifting to the players and coaches.
  24. South Greene 0 Cocke County 1 SG scrimmages David Crockett Friday March 9th
  25. South Greene plays Cocke County tonight..good luck Rebs
