I was watching as an unbiased football fan . Let me give my perspective on the spots . If I was S Pitt I wouldn't even mention spots again. S Pitt got ridiculous spots all night long . Go back and watch it again with unbiased eyes . The Whitwell fans were going crazy . I would be highly suprised if some refs aren't reprimanded . I thought the spot you guys keep mentioning was close and I couldn't see it from my angle very well but I felt that there were four s Pitt spots that were unbelievable to the point I felt there was some bias in the game from the refs . What a great game played by both sides though and a great atmosphere . Two hard nosed throw back teams . I do agree with others though I think both teams are going to have to find a way to get a little more inventive with their passing game . This S Pitt team is not the S Pitt powerhouse teams of the past in terms of speed and big play ability but they are very tough in the box . I've watched Whitwell against Trousdale and now S Pitt. That 31 is a stud !

According to Trousdale they had three starters out and then 18 got hurt before the half. It was evident they are not anything like the Trousdale teams of the past. Neither is Boyd, Signal or Polk. Its hard to gauge how good Whitwell really is as some of the teams they have played have their worst teams ever. regardless of lack of competition Whitwell is a tough , hard nosed team but they are going to have to open up the playbook and throw the ball some unlike the Trousdale game where I think they only threw 3 times. I dont know if the new coach was nervous in his first tough close game or they weren't confident in the new qb. He threw two perfect slants to #31 who showed great concentration and caught both in tight coverage and then broke tackles. I think #31 even threw the last pass that set up the game winning field goal. I haven't seen S Pittt this year so its hard for me to think of them other than a fast athletic team with playmakers all over the place but my buddy at work tells me this team is different and is a more hard nosed ,tough in the trenches hit you in the mouth type team which is exactly hat Whitwell is as well. I think S Pitt teams of old with outside speed would beat this Whitwell team pretty easily but if they are truly a grind you down type of team then Whitwell may have a chance if they open up they playbook a tad and throw enough to keep S Pitt honest. If Whitwell turns it over a couple of times or runs all night I think they get beat by 20 pts.

Actually your wrong as usual , Ive been on here two years longer than you. Unlike you though I have a life and don't have time nor the inclination to make 5,000+ posts about high school sports and teams I have nothing to do with. I wont be at Suk creek with a B on my chest as you so eloquently put it in another post. If you were in town I might be inclined to head over and and watch your game but every time I've been over there either my car has been broken into or I've been almost mugged. Your right people are usually jealous of teams better than them. Which is exactly my problem with Boog and his constant nonsense he has posted over the years about Baylor. I can assure you his team has never beaten the teams I associate with in anything so no jealousy on my part. I already explained the problem with football in Chattanooga as compared to sports that don't require 50 players. its evidently too much for you to comprehend. We are a much smaller market thus meaning we have less athletes to chose from to go to our schools. Its not just Baylor failing to win in football its all schools in Chattanooga so nobody is in denial on this end. Even when your beloved Irish were competing in the public school division and finding inventive ways to give money to kids even though you weren't supposed to you couldn't win it all. Do you not realize everyone knows what was going on over there all those years? If it wouldnt blow back on some people I like I might talk about the kids I know who couldn't even afford to pay their little league fees or rec league football fee's of $80 but yet can afford to send kids to Notre Dame?? These same kids were as Baptist as they come since they went to church with me their whole lives but yet they got "catholic discounts", parents worked the gates, etc.. Or we could talk about the kids I know that applied to Mccallie, Baylor and some other smaller private schools but their parents couldn't afford to send them even with financial aide they qualified for. But yet they end up an Notre Dame that cant give financial aide and would have been more expensive than what they would have paid at the schools that were offering financial aide packages. You really should take a break from coacht before someone not as nice as me points out these things including names.

Boog ... I won't quote that encyclopedia you posted but I will point out a few facts . You just love to hi-jack everyone's threads and try to be cute but your posts are usually just an attempt at getting attention and you avoid any factual data. I'm pretty sure I already pointed out earlier in the year your obvious bias / jealousy towards Baylor and no matter how cleverly you try to use childish humor that fact isn't lost on anyone . Personal issues aside for the moment . 1) You criticize Baylor every chance you get but yet they beat your beloved Irish pretty badly this year . 2) You criticize their league stating they only have 6-7 teams to compete against . If it is so easy why did Notre Dame get out of d2 years ago ? If it's so easy why didn't you do better against Baylor this year ? How would you do against the likes of MBA, Brentwood, Ensworth , McCallie, Mus etc..? If my memory serves me correctly I've seen you state that Notre Dame is a small school without a lot of boys . In all fairness you would be correct and you shouldn't be expected to beat Baylor with twice as many boys to chose from . The same principal would apply when comparing Baylor to all boys schools that have 2-3 times the number of athletes . Yes, Baylor has been extremely successful in other sports but there is a big difference in fielding teams with 5-15 players as opposed to a sport with 50+. If you don't agree with that then by your standards Notre Dame should be able to compete with anyone . If you don't think Nashville has a huge advantage in football then you haven't been paying attention .

What is the reason Baylor has won in everything but football? I would love to hear your thought process on this. Considering in 20 years Nashville area schools have won 16 titles and Mus in Memphis 3 with the only title east of Nashville being the one McCallie won 16 years ago it would probably have to do with the fact that Chattanooga is a considerably smaller population base and its hard to compete with the schools that have a much larger population of athletes. Kind of common sense if you really think about it. That being said I think Baylor has faired pretty well against their rival despite having half the number of boys enrolled and not having a special curriculum path for "athletes". Haven't Baylor won 8 out of the last 10 years or something like that? That being said I think Mccallie has the slight edge this year. Im really not sure what your comment " they can swim over at Suck creek though" is supposed to insinuate? Why would they travel miles down the road to swim in Suck Creek when they own miles of Tennessee Riverfront acreage not to mention multiple swimming pools one of which is widely considered one of the best in the country? That would be like saying you guys can drive over to Chickamauga creek and swim.

Booger, if your getting a little animosity its probably because of your non-stop posts over the last few years. Constantly posting non-sense and whining about the Baylors and McCallies of the world and how ya'll were just as good. I clearly remember you posting several times complaining about kids getting picked for all star teams in the local papers from the private schools and how they didn't deserve it and your kids did. You called them "media darlings" and among other things. The ironic thing is Notre Dame has recruited just as much but weren't supposed to. I wont name any kids names on here but I know of a lot of kids who ended up at Notre Dame that tried to get financial aide at the schools that could legally give it and they could afford the $3,000-$6.000 dollars It was going to cost them after financial aide but somehow ended up at Notre Dame who couldn't give financial aide, lol ??? We all know how it was done with "catholic money, parents working the gate, etc". So now you are in the private school division where you should have been all along. As far as Baylor scheduling Tyner, Brainerd, Howard, etcc its probably because nobody would play them, I know for a fact Nd wouldn't until this year. Also if you played the brutal conference schedule they do would it make sense to go add more top ;level teams. I do know they played Knox Webb , Columbia, Murfreesboro Oakland in their state championship caliber years, not sure about who else. Hopefully last night was an eye opener for you and you regret talking about all the kids you said didn't deserve to make the all star teams and all that. To be honest other than a couple of players I think this years Baylors team is one of the weaker ones they have had in a long time, couple that with several of their starters being out last night and them calling off the dogs when it was 42-7 and ya'll got out of their very lucky. Might try to be a little more realistic and humble in the future.

Arent you from Chattanooga? You are the guy always posting on facebook correct? I would have thought you would have had a better feel for the wrestling scene in your area. Looks like Mr Salter was correct in his predictions and you werent even close. Chattanooga elementary blew everyone away like they always do and the middle school came in third. The team you picked to beat them got beat 84-18. Has the elementary ever lost a single match? Im wondering why you picked them to lose this year? Why did the Chatt Ms have so many forfeits? 5th grade and below Duals- Chatt vs Region 5- (west nashville and Memphis) 62-28 Chatt vs Region 4- (Nashville and middle Tn) 85-16 Chatt vs Region 2 ( I guess this is Knoxville ? ) 84-18 Chatt vs region 1 ( i guess this is East Tn ? ) 92-9

Is middle Tennessee the dominant force now? High school individual and state duals were won by Chattanooga teams. Small school state won by Chattanooga team. Small school state duals won by Pigeon Forge. Elementary individual state won by Chattanooga. Elementary duals won by Chattanooga. Middle school individual state won by Chattanooga. Middle Tn wins one ms dual tournament out of all the tournaments listed and now they are the dominant force ? That's pretty funny .

How are the duals going in both age groups?

Yes, absolutley it was a factor in the excitment. It was the single cause of the chaos and confusion of the finals. The botched pre-match show, the failure to announce the kids and their accomplishments, the confusion of announcing the awards while matches were going on and not even announcing or ackowledging the winners and on and on. I do agree the venue was a huge part of the lack of excitment as well. Just because all those people are there doesnt mean they are watching the A-AA or DII. Everyone watches the matches they want to see and thats it. Did you watch the online matches? It was even worse. Two people trying to announce three finals was a complete failure. Nothing against them but its not possible.

Im not concerned with the duals as much. Why is it not feasible to host the finals at different times? There is so much wasted time at the state its not even funny. Personally I would hold the girls somewhere else or on the weekend of the duals unless they are now going to have a duals championship as well. Im not against girls wrestling but personally I dont care to watch it and dont think most other people do either unless you have a girl wrestling. Im not trying to be sexist but just stating the facts. If they are held at the same time who is going to watch the girls match over the AAA or dII finals? The parents of the girls is all thats going to watch it so what is the point of hosting all finals at the same time? They would probably prefer their own time in the spotlight just as AAA, A-AA and DII would prefer their own time as well. you cant watch all matches at once so we need to stop kidding ourselves and acting like we do. Its not possible and all we are doing is watering it down. Last year was a phiasco to say the least.

BB, Im suprised by your view on this. You are probably the biggest wrestling historian in the state. You have seen first hand the decline in excitement of the state finals. I for one dont want wrestling to be anything like golf. Do we really want our state finals to have the enrgy and excitment of a golf tournament? Wrestling is a sport for warriors, we should honor those who sacrifice so much and work so hard. Not to mention we need to be promoting the event and sport and making it as exciting as possible.

Im really confused as to why they think this approach is better? Do other sports play side by side? Do the girls and boys play their state basketball finals on adjoing gym floors? Do they not realize all of these kids have grown up wrestling with and each other and we as fans would like to sit down and watch the kids achieve their lifetime goals? Cant wait to see how they mangle the prefinals show and announcing of the finalist with yet another match going on.

That would be the absolute best thing they could do. Atleast they could make it an exciting and memorable event the kids would never forget. I bet the Tssaa fights it though because they obvioulsy dont care about the kids experience.

So .... although everyone has voiced their opionion and been pretty much in agreement that holding all the finals at the same time has ruined what was once the most exciting sporting event in high school sports we are now going to add yet another final at the same time? Does the Tssaa listen to anybody? Do they care that wrestlers work harder, sacrifice more and deserve for their finals to be the pinacle of their wrestling careers. Its quite a shame that other tournaments are more exciting and ran better than what should be the ultimate competetion. WOW! This will be utter chaos and confusion. I thought last year couldnt have gone any worse but now lets add more matches at the same time? This is nothing agianst girls wrestling. Im all for any wrestling we can get but dont host all the finals at the same time please!!!
