  1. Keys to a DB win tonight: 1) No turnovers by DB resulting in quick scores for Maryville (DB was close to blowing SH out when 2 turnovers inside the 20 resulted in 2 easy/quick scores for SH and game was on) 2) Playing from behind (within 7 to 10 pts.) the whole game with a chance to win late. If DB is up 7 or more at half look for coaching to be a factor as it has before in 1st and 2nd round playoff losses. 3) Secondary making some key stops in the passing game. Coach T - What is the record for replies & views on a single topic in a 7 day period. This has to be close. Crazy!!
  2. Article from JC Press has Maryville & GQ's record being 170-6 from 2000-2011 with 9 state championships, 2 losses in the finals and only once not making the finals. DB & GC's record being 120-23 with only 2 semi-final appearances during the same time frame. Looks like Maryville might have a slight edge in playoff experience here. Unbelievable run by the Maryville program. Really don't see how this is possible, no matter what level of football it is. What type of system does GQ and coaching staff have in place to keep doing this with players changing each year? Whatever it is, please send it on up to Knoxville as they are in desperate need. Looking at these #'s makes one wonder if DB should even make the trip?
  3. Without a doubt DB has the players and team to win this game. Question is how will the coaching be?? They should have less pressure on them for sure since they made it past the 1st & 2nd rounds and most people outside of Kingsport really don't believe they have a chance in this game. Being the underdog in this one may serve the coaching staff well. Can't wait to see this one. DB 35 MHS 28.
  4. Have seen both teams play 3 games this year and DB is for real. Foreman/Swafford are special players and both have D1 talent plus Indians overall team talent is way better than most think. SH only scored 17 against little db and 27 vs Cyclones and allowed 48 to THS - enough said. For those looking for a close game, get there early. DB 70 SH 14
  5. No disrespect to your players MHS82. They are always great as well and get the job done year after year. Your coaching just happens to be Superior and others just wish they had that as well. Good luck the rest of the year!!
  6. This one should not be close (45-7). Did Farragut have some kids hurt vs. DB this year? They were not competitive at all against DB and I noticed where they only lost to OR by 4 and Bearden by 3. They must have gotten some key kids back for these games or OR and Bearden are not that strong one. Maryville wins easily.
  7. Agree!! It will come down to the athleticism of Foreman/Swafford vs the coaching of Quarles. Who makes the least amount of mistakes???
  8. If DB loses pror to the Maryville game, I don't even think ArtVandalay's boy himself (Clark) would survive that loss no matter how much power he has in Kingsport. DB is loaded and will give Maryville all they want and maybe more. We shall see, I hope!!
  9. If Swafford and Foreman stay healthy then this game will happen and will be a great one!! 2 of the best players to come out of Northeast TN. It's a shame they are not getting more attention on the recruting trail than what they are. Some local D1 schools are missing out on these 2.
  10. Most all high school teams have issues in the secondary. Secondary positions by far are the most difficult positions to fill and play well especially against a good group of receivers and quarterback. Biggest concern for you DB fans should be why you come out clicking on all cylinders in the 1st half and put up big numbers, then you can't do anything right in the 2nd half. I saw the SC game last year and it was a complete meltdown. From reading about the Farragut game seems the issue is still there and had they been a better team this year things could have gotten interesting in that game. Just curious why #6 does not play in the backfield along side of #8. He should be getting 15 touches a game with his speed and looks like he averaged less than 3/game last year and only had 6 touches on Friday. You guys never have really thrown the ball consistently and with speed like he has it seems he would be more a part of the offense. Score 60 or 70 a game and you don't have these defensive debates.
  11. SH will be undefeated going into game at DB and nobody will match their atleticism until this game. SH confidence will be up and this group knows they can play with the Indians. Look for Clark to choke earlier this year than normal. Too much pressure on Clark with everyones expectation to win State. Anything less will be a disappointment in Kingsport. The Hill "Rolls" this year!!!
  12. Does anyone know if this game is being broadcast online?
  13. Betsy by 14 (skill players for Betsy will be to much for Boone to handle) Crockett by 7 (Crockett only win of the year) DB by 17 (Although it will be close for a while, Indians very talented and will wear Farragut down) S Hill by 1 (Tough one to call after seeing both of them play the last two weeks - Hill is big, strong & fast) Central by 1 (Win one early) South by 14 (Suppose to win this one - I guess) T high by 21 (May surprise some this year with new offense and kids having fun running it!!!)
  14. What a great game tonight. Young is as quick/fast as I have seen since Thomas Jones at Powell Valley. UT is getting a player that will contribute early on kick/punt returns. 21 & 42 were great on defense as well tonight for Bearden. Swafford was special tonight for DB and made many big plays on offense. Just saw the film of Barger in OT and looked like he was in to me. Unfortunate call was made that he stepped out. Game could have gone either way and both teams should be proud of the way they played. Way to many mistakes/penalties from DB though. Anyway outstanding game and good luck to Bearden against Maryville.
