  1. They must not pay attention to the northest part of the state. None on the AA squad and Shy Copney from Science Hill makes it when she was 3rd team All-Conference, while 2 of her teammates (in addition to Tianna Tarter who rightfully made it) and Big 8 Player of the Year Ashlee Mitchell, who made it last year and who took her team to the substate do not.
  2. Looks like SH Athletic Director & former Unicoi Co. boys' coach Keith Turner is taking the reigns of the Lady Topper program.
  3. Science Hill will beat Faragut badly. 25+. Tennessee High will likely beat Bearden in a close game.
  4. Folks, it may be time to let the past be the past and focus on Saturday, which is much more important than this past Wednesday anyway. I don't have a dog in this fight but you guys are getting yourselves all riled up over a game that won't mean much if you lose Saturday.
  5. I think Cootie Browns only serves Key Lime Pie, not the Humble Pie that ladadad ordered.
  6. Ladadad proves he/she is delusional with each post.
  7. Congratulations to the Lady Toppers and Lady Vikings on their wins last night and advancing to the substate. Go represent District 1 well ladies.
  8. Many of the local high school gyms are nicer than some of the college gyms, not to mention that they are larger. Milligan, King, and Tusculum have nice gyms but I am not sure that they would be large enough to accomadate the crowds you can end up with. Last week's District 1-AAA tournament championship night was played at Boone and there was barely enough seating to accomodate everyone. Also, since the sites generally rotate, so does the advantage. That's just part of it. Also, I would agree that sometimes playig on the road can be its own advantage and makes those wins especially sweet. So it happens to be Elizabethton's year to host? How long has it been since they got to host? I'd venture to say it has been awhile. I'm sure it will be a great game if they end up meeting Grainger.
  9. Tonight's the big night. Predictions on who secures a substate berth?
  10. I'm thinking SH and Boone in the upper bracket, THS and Cocke Co. in the lower bracket with SH and THS matched up again in the title game. Volunteer has been playing well but I think that is a tough road task for an inexperienced team. Hope I am wrong though and we get an instant replay of last week's district 1 semis.
  11. Matchups for the Region are almost set. Volunteer will travel to Cocke Co. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Mo-East at loser of THS/SH Boone will travel to Mo-West The winner of that game will take on the winner of Sevier Co. at winner of THS/SH How do you guys think it will play out? Top 2 move on to the substate.
  12. Tennessee High & Volunteer move on in District 1 tonight. They will match up Friday night at 6 followed by Science Hill and Boone. All four have qualified for the Regional.
  13. That is true. For some reason they changed that this year. Not sure I am a fan. Kinda makes the girls game the undercard.
  14. Knoxnews has D2 playing the championship on Saturday. Not saying it's right but that is what they have. http://blogs.knoxnews.com/preps/archives/2013/02/2013-district-t.shtml
  15. Gonna put in a couple of plugs for the often forgotten and under-rated northeast corner of the state. In A, Dorothy Dugger at Hampton is having a phenomenal year. Not sure of the stats, although I think she is averaging about 20 points a night, but I know she is putting up big numbers. In AA, I have not seen her myself but I have heard big things about the young lady at Grainger and her team is certainly the class of AA up here. In AAA, there was a previous post advocating Ashlee Mitchell's candidacy. She is definitely a deserving candidate. She is the only starter back from a team that won 26 games last year and yet has led her team to a 21-4 record with the only losses being to Science Hill (twice; state's #2 ranked team), Elizabethton, and Dutch Fork, SC (who is undefeated and ranked #1 in their state and the defending state champs). They also have victories over a very good Franklin Co. VA team, Fairfield Central from SC, CAK, Knox Webb, Siegel, and Fulton. She stuffs the stat sheet every night averaging about 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4.5 assists. Science Hill's Tianna Tarter would also be a good choice. They have had a remarkable season and have beaten a few nationally and state ranked teams. She is the engine that makes their very balanced team go.
  16. What is the tournament schedule for 4-AAA?
  17. What are the dates for the D2 tournament? The D1 tournament (if they go by the past year's schedule) Monday 2/11 SH vs. Crockett; South vs. Boone Tuesday 2/12 THS vs. Central; DB vs. Volunteer Friday 2/15 Semifinals Monday 2/18 Consolation and Championship
  18. Never mind. I see that both are making up conference games instead.
  19. So are Farragut & Mo-West still playing tonight? If so, what time?
  20. Don't confuse him with the facts.
  21. Can someone tell me what time the Farragut-Morristown West game is on Saturday?
  22. Really great game last night. The Lady Vikings played with great heart and intensity. Will DB be able to keep the the D1 winning streak over D2 going today?
  23. Should be an interesting race in the 2nd half in District 1. THS & DB both won holiday tournaments. THS beat a good Siegel team & a good Fulton team as well as destroying a traditional power, albeit down, in Oak Ridge. DB beat some good local teams & appears to be coming together. South & Boone certainly will have some say too. In District 2, it looks like West is rising, Seymour falling. All in all, should be fun (unless you're playing SH).
