  1. Actually, that team started out 0-4 because of some key player suspensions the week before the season started as I recall. The wins came after they had served their suspensions.. By the way, Gary..Er..I mean GovMan, can we get WB to coordinate their away games with Maryville's home schedule so you can announce our games? Now that my kids have graduated and I no longer need to go to games, I don't know if will continue to attend because I can't stand to listen to our current announcer and his pseudo-Ohio accent and endless promos for the restaurants that provided the ' press box' , AKA him, with food for the evening... I don't know the guy personally, and he may be a good person, but he detracts from the game experience. The Maryville football program deserves better and you are excellent.
  2. I was out of state and couldn't get the ¥#%>€ ESPN3 feed to work, so I gave up and listened to the audio feed on the TSSAA website. Not sure who they were, but they seemed to have radio broadcasting experience. Those announcers were much better than the Kevin Dyson clown show that I heard tonight when I watched the game on my DVR...
  3. Hope you have a safe trip over to East Tennessee - it's a beautiful day here today...
  4. One question about the new quarterback. How do you make it through an a entire season, 13 games so far, with your second string QB having barely played?
  5. Here you go folks, our local newspaper finally has printed a story about the game... Enjoy! Maryville paper pulls reporter away from swim team story to write a story about the football team...
  6. Trying to win respect by playing out of state schools is like tilting at windmills. There will always be regional biases whether you win a game against out of state opponents or not. We choose to strive for objective goals like making the playoffs and winning the state championship instead of seeking subjective goals like so-called national rankings. Again, folks this is HIGH SCHOOL football, played by teenage STUDENT athletes.
  7. Funny you ask. There was an article about this in the Tennessean today (see the link below) The answer is the 2004 4A semi-finals and, interestingly enough, Maryville was also one of those 4 teams! We're used to this.....
  8. Sounds like you're more interested in it than we are... All we're interested in is the Gold Ball - we don't feel the need to prove anything else.. We have 3 non-district slots where we played Alcoa, Webb, and Oak Ridge this year. The non-district competition we played, which included two 2010 State Champs, prepares us the best for getting ready for the playoffs.
  9. Maybe another clue that it's one of your middle TN brethren... Razor = Blade ? Or then again, it might be an Oak Ridger...
  10. LOL! Interesting math exercise...unfortunately that probably IS the way the BCS computers calculate their power ratings! Just remember in scoring comparisons that Maryville basically hasn't played their first team in the second half since the fourth game of the season...well, they did play in the third quarter last week against Sevier County.... Another dining option would be next to the airport at intersection of I-140 and Alcoa Highway, which would probably be easier to get to than going through all of the red lights that have now popped up on US 321. The restaurant is the Courtyard Grille. It has a similar menu and atmosphere as Aubrey's, but is more group friendly with a couple of private rooms you could use depending on the number of people you have...All you have to do is call ahead and let them know you're coming.... Courtyard Grille
  11. That logo on the Broadway WOULD BE VERY FUNNY! Hope you can find a suitable image..LOL
  12. Nice try, but not very original with modifying the Arkansas state flag and Alcoa's logo....
  13. Maryville's turn this year...your turn was last year, but Oak Ridge took care of that.....
  14. How 'bout that 7AAA football?! Remember Farragut lost to 5A Lenoir City 2 weeks ago!
  15. You all started the hijack, we just defended ourselves.... Keep dreaming about beating Maryville, you haven't done it yet! Last year, Oak Ridge beats Riverdale on their field... Two years ago, Maryville humiliates Riverdale.... See a pattern here? This is the best Maryville team in many years....I hope one of you finally makes it to the finals and get to experience it in person!
  16. Yawn, are you from Farragut? For the last time, THERE IS NO OPEN ZONING IN BLOUNT COUNTY! Maryville and Alcoa have their own city school systems. To attend their schools, you have to be a resident of their city. If you are not a resident, you may apply to enroll as a tuition student. In Maryville, tuition students are accepted on a space available basis. The annual tuition is in excess of $2000. The last time I looked, there was ONE tuition student on the Maryville High School roster. Play out your state championship fantasies all you want, but until you actually win the gold ball, that's all they are...Maybe Riverdale can actually beat poor, weak Oak Ridge THIS year and return to Maryville to avenge the beatdown they suffered two years ago!
  17. As a Maryville fan, I can tell you that West had the best defense we played all year. Their run defense is second to none....
  18. Good Article. Enjoy thinking about the possibilities..... 6A Quad Projections
  19. I guess that's better than being embarrassed our football team or our coaches.... The negative nabobs have to find something to complain about, or as they say now... HATERS HAVE TO HATE! Congratulations REBELS on a great preseason...two more games until the real season begins!
  20. I was surprised how one dimensional Farragut was. They live and die by the run, which doesn't serve you well when you're getting stuffed and down 32 points...
  21. Trezevant football coach Teli White honored Former University of Memphis and NBA star Penny Hardaway was on hand to honor Trezevant football coach Teli White during a program at the school Thursday. White, who just finished leading the Bears to their best season in history, finishing 13-2 and advancing to the 4A title game, was honored for winning a Refuel America grant. The grants are sponsored by the “got milk†campaign and honor coaches who have changed their team’s recovery game plan to include low-fat chocolate milk to help give teen athletes the competitive edge. Apparently the effects of drinking chocolate milk = 'roid rage!
  22. Come on guys...are you trying to get this thread closed, too ?!!
  23. One parent got carried away, so why not block that user instead of closing the thread? I've seen a couple of other examples where threads were shut down at the whim of the administrator for reasons that were unclear to me. I guess they can do whatever they want, but arbritarily closing the most popular thread over the last several days doesn't make sense from a business standpoint.....
  24. I haven't seen a game in the Championship series the first two nights where the officiating looked competent. They've been totally exposed on the instant replays. Anyone know the selection criteria? Must have been developed by the same people who came up with the seeding process for this year's playoffs!
