  1. blazer, the Toppers definitely snoozed through the 1st quarter. Coach Carter said after tonight's game that RB/QB Justin Bedard and WR Tyrique Perkins should be back next week. DE Quintin Alibocus is questionable. None of the three played vs Boone. Also, if you don't have a ticket before kick-off next week, I wouldn't bother coming. This one will be sold out before the game starts.
  2. Boone always plays us pretty tough regardless of what their record is that year.
  3. It's Boone. It's not exactly like this was a game the Toppers were looking forward to. I seem to remember your Indians not looking too stellar against the Trailblazers a few weeks ago too. In fact, I remember Boone moving the ball quite easily on DB a few weeks ago when they played.
  4. Toppers were missing multiple starters for their game vs Volunteer this past Friday. Those that did play only played mid-way through the 2nd quarter. My guess is that is what will happen this week vs Boone too. We really need all of our injured players to be able to rest and get healthy. Speaking of injuries, does DB have any right now? Here's the current list for the Toppers. These are all starters. QB Malik McGue-bruised knee. Has played limited time the last two games but from what I'm told is fine to play. WR Mikey White-ankle sprain. Did not play vs Volunteer and is questionable vs Boone. Should be back for DB. WR Tyrique Perkins-hip pointer. Did not play vs Volunteer and is questionable for Boone. Should be back for DB. RB/QB Justin Bedard-ankle sprain. Had two carries vs Volunteer before sitting. I doubt he plays again until DB. DE Quintin Alibocus-had emergency surgery last week. Will possibly be back for DB.
  5. I know it's 2 weeks away but I figured I'd go ahead and start this. You all know you're ready for it. Who wins and why? Let's go.......... Like the last couple of years, this one will be very close. A heated rivalry game between two of the best teams in East TN. It doesn't get better than that. In order for the Toppers to win they've got to 1. get healthy and 2. stop the run. In order for the Indians to win they've got to 1. contain McGue and 2. stop the Topper air attack.
  6. Yes, all 3 were injured but it was a great opportunity for the Freshman to get some varsity experience.
  7. That's what SH did. They played a Freshman QB with no varsity experience after halftime and the Cougars couldn't even stop him. As for the field over there at Sullivan Central, yeah, it's bad. It's one of, it not the worst I've ever seen. The SH game last week was basically played in a giant mud pit.
  8. If you allow your 3rd and 4th string players to play like SH did, they have a chance to score.
  9. If McGue was a bigger kid he'd have offers from some of the big-time schools IMO. Like you said, he's got the talent. He just doesn't have the size. He's 5'7-5'8? From what I've heard, he does have offers from Furman, Wofford, Tennessee State and ETSU. MTSU has also started to show interest.
  10. Jennings at Blackmon and McGue at Science Hill.
  11. After witnessing the Sullivan Central/SH game last Friday, the Indians will take this one, 56-7. The Cougars are terrible.
  12. McGue (still injured) played the 1st half. Really had no choice as the backup is out as is the 3rd string QB. He played a total of 2-3 series, threw two touchdowns then sat the rest of the game. Freshman, Jaylen Adams, played the 2nd half and had a nice throw for a touchdown as well as a nice td run.
  13. Oh they definitely could. It was good to get some of the young guys some varsity experience tonight and rest some of our starters, especially with several of them injured and needing it. The field conditions at Sullivan Central were almost as bad as their team.
  14. Watching our Freshman QB with no varsity experience whip up on Sullivan Central.
  15. Cap I watched the game with a friend of mine who went to TN High, even played there. This was the third SH game he's seen this season. He said the SH team he saw Friday night was nothing close to the SH team he watched beat Mo West or Siegel. Even he said that the Vikings caught the Toppers at the seemingly perfect time. He said that had McGue been healthy and our RB Bedard not gone out early he believed the Toppers would have won by 3-4 touchdowns. So I'm just giving you another Viking fan's opinion. With that said, I've been very complimentary and said from the beginning you guys came in with a great game plan and executed it almost to perfection. You made a couple of mistakes but overall you all played great. SH, on the other hand, gave their worst performance of the season with an ailing QB and sidelined RB.
  16. Acumen, I agree with everything you said. Playing Malik was definitely not the right decision. He should've sat out and Bedard should've been in at QB. Now we have both Malik and Justin injured. Not a smart decision by the coaching staff last week at all. We're lucky that our next three opponents are the weakest on our schedule. So my question is, who plays QB this week? Will they risk even greater injury to Malik or will we play our 3rd string QB? Who is that anyway? Is it Wooten or Bernadi? Neither one have any Varsity experience.
  17. Aside from what you said, players need to get healthy. What's the status on Malik and Justin right now? Defense needs to continue to work on stopping the run.
  18. If TN High plays like they did this Friday at SH, this will be a very good game. Because this one is at the Stone Castle and I think the Vikings will be very fired up, I'm taking them in a close one.
  19. Without Mikey, we lose this game. The kid simply took over for us in the 2nd half. And yeah, McGue not being able to run tonight really hurt us. We depend so much on him scrambling and eluding defenses to get other guys open. When he's not able to do that we're clearly a very different offense. Hopefully his knee heals up quickly. And hopefully the injury to Bedard isn't serious. Luckily our next three opponents are Sullivan Central, Volunteer and Boone. Hope you guys give DB all they want next week at the Stone Castle.
  20. I think Stacy realized he had to go to the air attack, especially once Bedard went out. Malik was apparently playing injured and the coaches did not want him running the ball. So once Bedard went out of the game, with Malik not being able to run, the coaches had no choice but to air it out.
  21. Any update on Justin Bedard? He went out very early in the game with what appeared to be an ankle injury. We really can't afford to lose him.
  22. kingindian, I've got a feeling you all are going to have your hands full next week in Bristol. Your guys better come well prepared because the Vikings can play.
  23. Your guys should hold their heads high. They played really well. I think you all will play DB very tough next week at your place.
  24. TN High is better than what many think. They played Elizabethton and SH very tough. They're a good team and came in with a great game plan against the Toppers tonight. Hats off to them. With that said, SH was totally off tonight. They looked completely unprepared and that's nothing but bad coaching.
