  1. cupcake - you haven't stolen my woman from me yet, probably because you haven't decided to try. Few woman can resist your charms. If you do take a liking I don't know that I can measure up so I'll have to fall back to my man Johnny Paycheck's method - I'm beggin ya friend, don't take her she's all I got.
  2. Geez 90, I only inquired of your opinion on the dual tomorrow since you historically have been the lone EBE representative on this board and you throw out your life story. Am I on facebook by mistake? Do we not get your annual battle cry of "It's going to be closer this year". P.S. Don't believe cupcake....your plenty old for Tullahoma.
  3. Back to forecasting the outcome. Baylor typically has wrestled this match straight up and the EBE has a history of moving guys around along with throwing in a forfeit here and there. Appears to have the makings for a single upset to swing the final outcome of the match. Here's the 2 potential line ups I've heard to date; 103- Adam Connell dec Cole Holloway 3-0 M 112- Alex Elsea dec John Eady 6-0 M 119- Brandon Bunner Fall Boyd 6-6 125- Zach Watson dec Alex Ward 9-6 B 130- Bennett Reece dec Timmy Westbrooks 12-6 B 135- Alex Manley Fall Alex Kent 18-6 B 140- Stuart Doster maj dec Cory Cobb 22-6 B 145- Michael Hooker Fall Colton Popp 22-12 B 152- Matthew Cate maj dec Daniel McClure 26-12 B 160- TJ Duncan dec Spencer Craig 26-15 B 171- Chase Martino maj dec Matt Bodine 26-19 B 189- Jake Anderson dec Nick Bullard 26-22 B 215- Casey Cook dec Bryan Starnes 26-25 B 285- John Mackey Fall Tye Youngblood 32-25 B BAYLOR 32 MCCALLIE 25 Key Matches: 130, 189, 215 103- Adam Connell dec Cole Holloway 3-0 M 112- Alex Elsea dec John Eady 6-0 M 119- Brandon Bunner Fall Boyd 6-6 125- Zach Watson dec Alex Ward 9-6 B 130- Bennett Reece dec Timmmy Westbrooks 12-6 B 135- Alex Manley Forfeit EBE 18-6 B 140- Stuart Doster fall Alex Kent 24-6 B 145- Cory Cobb dec Colton Popp 24-9 B 152- Michael Hooker dec Matthew Cate 24-12 B 160- Spencer Craig dec Daniel McClure 27-12 B 171- TJ Duncan fall Matt Bodine 27-18 B 189- Chase Martino fall Nick Bullard 27-24 B 215- Casey Cook dec Bryan Starnes 27-27 B 285- John Mackey Fall Tye Youngblood 33-27 B BAYLOR 32 MCCALLIE 25 Key Matches: 130, 145, 215 Is wrestle90 not going to grace us with "HER" thoughts this year?
  4. Behold the power of the internet. One can hide behind a screen name to insult a high school kid. Wonder who's ox would get gored if this proposed weight change happens?
  5. The student your disparaging placed 3rd at Virginia Beach Nationals last spring. Look at EBE's lineup and its easy to see he would have no problem competing for a position as there are weights around Duncan and Hooker he would have strengthened considerably. This is a 3rd generation student at the EBE with the knowledge he would forfeit a full athletic season yet still left. His family's reasons must have been very compelling as "I was told" the EBE also stuck it to them for the year's tuition? I can say for a fact that Baylor is extremely happy to have a student of his character and tallents as a part of our family.
  6. Barecat – for your review and discussion. (rankings shown are Bray's) 103 – Cole Holloway (Bay#2) dec Jonah Smith (SD#2) Bay 3-0 Was an exciting match at Old Timer’s Duals, could go either way 112 – Jacob Stevens (SD#1) pin John Eady (Bay#1) SD 6-3 Stevens’ funky style is a difficult match up for Eady 119 – Brandon Brunner (Bay#2) pin Garrett Alexander (SD nr) Bay 9-6 Brunner just returning to the lineup and may not be 100% 125 – Zach Watson (Bay#1) pin Gage Richmond (SD nr) Bay 15-6 No doubt in my mind 130 – Campbell Lewis (SD#1) dec Bennett Reece (Bay#3) Bay 15-9 Reece just beat Mosely and has been coming on. Lewis has been nicked up. 135 – Alex Manley (Bay#1) pin Jacob Adams (SD nr) Bay 21-9 No doubt in my mind 140 – Stuart Doster (Bay#1) pin Brandon Hunt (SD nr) Bay 27-9 No doubt in my mind 145 – Josh Elliott (SD nr) pin Jake Standefer (Bay#6) Bay 27-15 Not sure how to pick this one so SD gets the nod 152 – Matthew Cate (Bay#3) dec Turbo Smith (SD#2) Bay 30-15 Was an exciting match at Old Timer’s Duals, could go either way 160 – Russell Burton (Bay nr) dec Kyle Odom (SD nr) Bay 33-15 #1 ranked Craig may be back? 171 – Blaike Henry (SD#2) dec Matt Bodine (Bay#5) Bay 33-18 Bodine continues to progress. Pushed Henry hard at Old Timers Duals 189 – Brett Ervin (SD nr) dec Tim Shober (Bay#6) Bay 33-21 Shober has been progressing and could turn this around 215 – Billy Swanson (SD#4) pin Bryan Starnes, 22-7 Bay 33-27 Helton may be back 285 – John Mackey (Bay#1) pin Alex Seeley (SD#5) Bay 39-27 Somebody’s getting pinned…I think it will be Seeley Match can potentially go Soddy’s way if they can win 103 and 152 and avoid a pin somewhere although Watson, Manley, Doster, and Mackey pin most every time. Match can get out of hand if the lesser experienced Baylor guys can avoid the pins or if Spencer Craig and David Helton return to the lineup.
  7. Where are my manners? Congrats Coach Satterfield and WB. If Coach Satterfield can spread the same mojo that young TJ unleashed against state champ Helton in the EBE's dual loss to the tribe this year, then WB is a team on the rise.
  8. Start another thread ghouse as many would be interested in the others.
  9. EBE has now lost 2 underclassmen from last year's starting lineup.....some things never change.
  10. All home matches during the high school season be on Sundays so that those involved with high schools will be available to support the Mocs. A Bradley County vs Baylor dual meet followed by a Mocs home meet against Virginia Tech on a Friday evening to kick off the season. $10 admission with the Mocs keeping the gate. That might endow Dean Pavlou's scholarship by itself. Please advertise via e-mail, internet, mass texting, etc so that I won't miss matches that I could have attended.
  11. mama - I have no position as to the quaility or value of the camp, but why do you think the GA camp is superior to the many camps offered in TN? If you attend a TN camp, then the proceeds support TN programs. Why should a TN board open itself up as free advertising for non charitable events around the country? I'd bet the coacht would be happy to sell advertising to the GA camp if they're interested in paying for their advertising. Seems to me that the GA camp is the greedy one in that they want something for free that they should be paying for - advertising.
  12. What is the entry fee, coach's pass, and admission at each? I know NHSCA has been outrageous in the past and may have killed the golden goose by being too greedy.
  13. Following this logic, why would Watson and Lewis be considered with 15 match seasons?
  14. TNlonghorn - I can't find it, but if memory serves the cow palace seats 4400. I ran into one of the long time state tourney staff folks who said the 2009 finals attendance at UTC was 4500. My guess is the cow palace had around 70% of the seats occupied for the finals making attendance apx 3000. Neither of those numbers are scientific, but they appear to agree with most everyone's impressions. When I saw the article stating attendance was up by 200, I was certainly surprised. If the TSSAA gets the place for free and gets 80% of the $5 parking, then its staying at the cow palace regardless of attendance. My same attendance source said UTC charged the TSSAA $20,000 last year which probably included the Natzi security and janitors. I assume the cow palace provided nothing in the way of labor services if they gave the weekend away. Also heard that some or all of the official's hotel rooms were comped in Nashville but were not in Chattanooga. Add it all up and heey haaw, we're back at the cow palace again next year.
  15. reftn - you are losing your credibility by continuing to argue against 2bleg concerning the pathetic performance of Mr. Bower in this match. Don't know that I've witnessed the patterned bias, but the facts concerning Mr. Bower are impossible to argue away. This is from B.B. Branton's article showing all the stalling warning and penalties in the 14 weights in the D2 finals; 112: warning stalling against Ward 125: warning on Baker (1); warning Baker (2); warning Manley (1); warning stalling Baker (3), warning Manley (2); 135: warning Hooker (1); 152: stalling on Downs,; 160: Todd warning (1); 189: stalling Mix (1) 215 stalling Fisher (2), 285: warning stalling on both wrestlers Facts are facts - 5 stalling penalty points awarded in the 14 matches, 3 of which were awarded in the 125 lb match between 2 wrestlers who have proven themselves to be goers throughout their careers.
  16. I'll make the assumption that very few folks would disagree with your premis of SW=WC. In that light, how ignorant does the TSSAA look with their rules to prohibit school coaches from wrestling involvment with their team out of season?
  17. There was never a legit reason to not have double elimination when the tourney was at UTC so that should not be a deciding factor. I've heard some preliminary numbers that indicate attendance was down over 30% - that stinks for the atmosphere which stinks for the wrestlers. At UTC I paid $10 a day to see both D1 and D2 tourneys. At the cow palace I had to choose one or the other. I want to see both. If your complaining about food and prices, you probably need to examine your body fat content. Who eats the crap sold at concession stands beyond a soft drink and possibly popcorn? 2 reasons its at the cow palace - UTC took the tourney for granted and didn't embrace the tourney as a student recruiting tool. The cow palace is free - but is it really? If the attendance is down then fewer folks are paying admission and that adds up fast. Doesn't need to be in Chattanooga if other areas will provide equal or greater attendance. If they can't, then it needs to be back in Chattanooga. The cow palace does not generate the same atmosphere and excitment which is robbing the wrestlers. The cow palace is not the answer for the individual.
  18. As a red tribe supporter, I'll 2nd the horrible officiating of Mr. Bowler (I'm going off the other poster so if it wasn't Mr. Bowler please accept my apology) in the 125 D2 finals. I watched from the mezzanine Alex's father suffering through it and I'm sure Mr. Baker who is also a very experienced wrestling parent suffered as well. I can't imagine how the competitors must have felt. I've followed Alex all season and I don't recall him being called for stalling the entire year. The couple of times I've seen Baker I left impressed with his aggressiveness but somehow both competitors were penalized 3 times each for stalling? Beyond the ridicules stalling calls, there was a takedown called with only 1 foot controlled while going out of bounds and a no TD called with both legs wrapped up and both feet in bounds. There were also at least 2 times a stalemate was called within 5 seconds where I thought progress was still being made. This could have been one of the best and highest scoring matches of the tourney except Mr. Bowler (where is he from?) decided we all needed an officiating performance - what a joke you are sir. If I was a purple brother this could be taken as sour grapes so consider this critique is from the winning side. To Danny Gilbert - you did great with the announcing, but the officiating talent pool couldn't spare your services.
  19. D2 needs to host a TN D2 invitational tourney the weekend of the D1 regionals and call the winner of that the TN D2 state champion - who cares if the TSSAA sactions it or not. This would free them up to attend the national prep tourney in LeHigh, PA next weekend - a tourney with national respect which neither the TN D1 or D2 or any of the A's in GA currently have. The TSSAA has become a joke with regards to wrestling. There has never been a legit reason since the tourneys moved to the round house at UTC for not having double elimination in D1 - we all know it. Now they stick the tourney in a venue that IS NOT condusive to hosting the individual tourney for one reason only.....it was free and now they get to nab you $5 a day for parking also. If you don't want it at UTC, then find a comparable replacement venue. Good luck to all the young competitors this weekend, especially those who have battled through injury and sickness to chase a medal. Hope all the placers are as joy filled as the American lady downhill skier was last night in the Olympics.
  20. Contest - who grew the most? While perusing the brackets the largest change I noticed was Bradley's Tyler Pitts, the 2009 103 lb state champ who is now competing at 125 lbs. My math has that as a 21.36% increase in weight. This tells me he may be the coacht poster DaBears who knows all the best eating establishments. Anyone out there have a higher percentage increase or is Mr. Pitts the 2010 champ? Who would make the all-time TN testoserone team for weight gain between seasons?
  21. Chatt78 - Thanks for what you do and its easy to understand your position of there not being enough competitive matches to go around for the officials to all be at the top of their game. Do you have any ideas as to how officials can be coached toward the center on the point of being either more involved or less involved in the matches? A couple of the more experienced officials are prone to over officiate a match. 2 evenly matched quality wrestlers rarely score a ton of points on one another due to the quality of their positioning and defense. In these cases, an overzealous official "creating" rules deviations can affect the match outcome. By "creating" I mean making calls that are not made by the other top officials. Either way, you get what you pay for and everyone surely knows that the money is not the reason officials are out there.
  22. Used to be whatever Uncle Ronnie decided. Since he left, who knows how they'll work it out.
  23. Never mind dude - your way over my head. Still not following how anything you post is related to seeding but you obviously operate in your own world.
  24. Is this Sommers dude on crack? Your posts make no sense and don't have anything to do with the thread topic. You must be hitting something hard.
