  1. This being the first year of the new four year alignment, the district re-drew the schedule back in the offseason. It just worked out in the draw that Gallatin plays Portland, Mt Juliet and Lebanon at home again this year, and Beech and Station Camp away again. Hendersonville and Wilson Central stayed on the same rotation. It all flip flops for next year of course.
  2. It should be a high scoring game, one of those shootouts in which both teams score in the thirties or more. For Gallatin to win they will likely have to score at least this many points to overcome SC's explosive offense. The Wave's first three district games have been decided by 4, 3 and 2 points and I expect this one to be the same, with some crazy thing happening to decide the outcome. It just seems like that kind of year in this district. Everyone talks about SC's big playmakers, deservedly so, but Gallatin has several also that can break one anytime. The winner takes a huge step toward a playoff berth and a top 4 quad seed that gets you a first round home game. The weather looks to be tremendous once again, so the place will be packed in what should be a dandy high school football atmosphere.
  3. I guess I shouldn't put this much emphasis on it, but this is a huge directional game for the Wave. Take care of business, win and I think they are headed towards a good year. Stumble, come out on the short end, and I'm not sure where they go. Having said this, the coaches and players know what's at stake and I believe they will bounce back from last week and get the job done this week,
  4. Mondo44, if we included all your venues too it would be an awfully thick book!
  5. I was only 3 the last time these two teams played. I have been to the Creekbank several times over the years, and I guess this will be the first time I have pulled against the home team. Even in the 1981 Tobacco Bowl, Gallatin was the home team in its win over Brownsville. It is a tremendous venue for high school football, and I have always had fun going there. I hope that fun continues tonight with a Wave win. Looking forward to the pit stop at Keller's also!
  6. Gallatin games are still on AM 1010 WHIN, pregame starts at 6:30. The entire crew does an excellent job.
  7. I couldn't agree with you more. When I first saw this team and staff together at the liftathon, then during spring practice, I could tell there was a different attitude about them, and it is definitely apparent now. I started telling anybody that asked that this team might surprise some people. The credit goes not only to the staff but to the kids who have had the determination that this year wasn't going to be like last year. Murphy Fair commented on the radio Friday that the atmosphere Thursday night was one of the best he had been involved with for a TV broadcast. Including this year, I really believe great things are ahead for this program. By the way GWAVE1, thanks for getting the info I needed.
  8. This should be a fun game to see for the casual fan watching on TV, and perhaps a nerve-racking one for the hardcore fans of both teams. Look for a close, intense game all the way to the wire. Both teams have offenses that can score at any time, so look for there to be plenty of points. It very well could come down to a big defensive stop by one team, maybe a turnover, that will decide the outcome. Also, which team will be better able to handle the schedule adjustment this week and playing in front of the cameras? It should be a great night of football!
  9. Gallatin wins this game, which I guess means the poster who's always right will be wrong on at least two things!
  10. I don't know if Gallatin can go 9-1 but I think definitely it will be closer to this than 1-9.
  11. Mondo44, great post. Maybe we can just get all the district 9 coaches to shift one school next year!
  12. Gwave1, I didn't read your post until today, will get hooked up with you later. Chickhot, I have avoided replies of your posts until today. I suppose everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it gets a little crazy when opinions turn into ideas that have next to no chance of happening. It's fairly obvious to anyone with a pulse that Gallatin is not a 1-9 team this year, and that there will not be any Perry at the helm next year. I for one am very pleased with the coaching staff, each and every one of them, that has been assembled. The Wave communuty should be very proud of these men and their characters. They are without a doubt doing all the right things and have this ship headed in the right direction. As for the game last night, the Wave played toe to toe with a team that is still in my opinion one of the best in 5A. In the end it was a toss up that just fell the wrong way. Obviously I wasn't happy with the outcome, but I was very pleased with the attitude, leadership and discipline this team is showing. They never quit, and all of this will pay dividends as the season progresses. Kudos also to the crowd I was a part of, it was tremendous. Let's keep this going the rest of the year, starting with the trip to Stewarts Creek next week. I hear they have a great facility and am exciting about going there.
  13. Notredame66, I did not make my statements just based on the Springfield game, I made them based also on seeing this team in the spring and fall practices and scrimmages. I am fairly close to the program, and can see a difference in being around the players and coaches. I feel like there is good talent, leadership and attitude on this team, from the coaches all the way down. One game doesn't make or break a season, I am looking at this team from the start of winter workouts up until now, and just how far they have come. I am excited about the prospects of a good season, but not based on just the first game.
  14. I believe this game will go down to the wire and be decided by a big play here or there. The Wave can't afford to give up big special team plays and expect to win. I'm sure those things have been worked on all week. Expect it to be high scoring as both offenses can be explosive. This is definitely not the Wave team of last year, and from what I have seen I think they can play with most anybody. A big win here would go a long way towards a very good season. Should be a great game!
  15. Kickoff is one day away! Look for the Wave to take care of business tomorrow night. If anybody is looking for a surprise team this year, this Wave team could be it. From what I have seen in the spring and fall preseason, I believe this team has loads of potential. I certainly wouldn't count this team out like some have. Thanks to the coaching staff and players working hard this program is headed in the right direction. Get there early tomorrow night, as there will be some special events before kickoff involving the quarterback club in memory of Bubba Dunn. I believe the players will be wearing something special on their helmets also in his memory. Go Wave!
  16. This game is scheduled because they are now for the first time in the same district (9-AA) together, so they have to play each other. I have known Coach Porter most of my life and I can promise you he or his staff would never try to embarass anybody.
  17. Glad to hear the injury is hopefully not too serious, hoping that he has a speedy recovery.
  18. Wave88, it's a pleasure to see you posting again!
  19. I had the score 25-22 Shelbyville, 4 TD's for them, 1 extra point, 3 TD's for the Wave, 2 extra points and a safety. I thought the offense looked good, and it has the potential to be very exciting this year. The defense gave up some big plays due to some missed assignments and taking some bad angles. Hopefully it will come around with a little more work and experience. I can't say enough about the great weather, and it looks to be great again for the jamboree tomorrow night.
  20. According to my records the last Gallatin-Trousdale County game was in 1969, a 28-18 win for the Wave.
  21. I kinda doubt Satterfield will outcoach anybody, since he is the superintendent there and no longer in coaching.
  22. It was 5-2. I thought Gallatin looked very good on both sides of the ball, but I was even more impressed with the attitude and discipline. There were very few penalties, and only one turnover that I can recall, and that was on the last play of the scrimmage. It just seems like this team has a different air about them, and are more on the same page, so to speak. I'm excited about this season and the future of the program! The kid that got hurt late is a sophomore to be, and it was a very serious, ugly looking injury. He did break something in his knee or lower leg, and had surgery late last night. I have heard this morning he came through fine and is doing okay. We need to keep him in our prayers.
  23. White House at Gallatin moved up to May 2nd, starting around 6.
  24. BKisler, Campbell was a senior so he will not be back. After sitting out a year with an injury/medical issue, Clay Carnes is back on the team. We all saw the good things he did in playing quarterback as a sophomore when Smith was out. No doubt he will have to work hard to get the starting quarterback job, but he looks to have the leadership qualities that this team woefully lacked last year. Talent is one thing, and you have to have some of it to win, but leadership and discipline also go a long way in how a team performs on the field. I think you will see more of both of these from this team. Spring practice, which starts in a couple weeks, will go a long way in how this team develops towards a better year. I do believe better things are ahead.
