I agree with beach boy. Coaching is hard and Coach Garland does a great job. He really coaches, seems to be high charachter, and wins. People like Knack get on here and attack, or make stuff up. I don't believe any of this and respect Garland.

Philly, that is wrong for any coach to do. Club takes a financial and time commitment that some can't . Philly, you have been right on target with a situation that I didn't realize was that bad. Thanks for the input.

I think black ops is an awesome program. Not really a secret at all, just a super cool name that the girls like! It is for the elite athlete that is going to play D1 volleyball. It is intense, but the results are fantastic. It is NOT for everyone. It is a high impact program geared to the elite athlete. We talked about this in another thread, the one about the elite athlete not playing high school and using that time for extra training. Hard Angle, any word on where the Catholic coach is headed?

I think they are two different situations. Webb is a high end private that provides scholarships. Bearden is a public. A principal that coaches a public school is a state employee who is paid by our tax dollars. Running a club is a full time job.

PhillyAI, is pressure put on the team to play club, or is the pressure to play club for the club he owns? Does anyone think a conflict of interest exists with the coach owning KVA? Also, what is the reaction of the parents to last nights upset? With the athletes and size that Bearden had I thought they would go a long way. What happened?

Expect a CAK rematch in the final. CAK has the talent and experience, Catholic has the coaching and the heart. Should be fun.

I agree with BBV. It is coaching. I think Bearden will make a change.

I saw DB at he Catholic tournament and they play slow and sloppy. Bearden has too much size and defense. DB doesn't have anyone that can put the ball down against Bearden. They will be home EARLY.

I disagree. It's CAKs to lose. They should be working on a three peat.

CAK has the most talent. It is theirs to lose. They have been there, it is now or never.

Bearden has too much height and athletic fire power. DBs middle is good but Beardens middle is more athletic. Would be a major upset if DB takes a game.

The problem is what BBV identified in other threads, most coaches either don't care or don't know how to react. It is also why you have to be careful when clubs use public schools to make money. Is the priority the club or the school?

This is not a new situation. He formed KVA for his daughter, took the Bearden job for his daughter. Do you really think he will be there next year?

Bearden and Farragut will win 3-0 pretty easily. DB and MW are too small and not skilled enough to pull an upset. Doubt either will score 15 in any game. Catholic has a rough road. It will be a major upset if they win. South is too strong. CAK has the easiest road, even this coach couldn't blow this one. It will be a CAK vs South rematch at the state tournament. It's CAK's last year with a 6 6 player so it is now or never!

I was commenting on how another loaded CAK team was struggling with a well coached Catholic team. I think the CAK coach is a nice man, but he way over coaches, and the girls never seem to have fun. I suspect this is his last year.

But why care, it didn't help AC beat Bearden, or Catholic beat CAK. Teams that play club win regardless who the coach is. Why care about keeping up with old players? They are gone. The coach isn't paid to be their friend. The picture incident is the Bearden coach in a nut shell. Wait till you see the one of his daughter that I bet will come. Also, does the CAK ever not put the focus on him? People want to play for a winner, not a family.

I think you will be surprised who wants him, and where he will end up. Catholic is not on the list but two teams still playing are!

EB, no apology needed. I think you have a great group of ladies, and have had for the last four years. I am pulling for you. I think that just like the previous three years you have more than enough talent to win it. I just wish your coach wouldn't over coach and let these girls play. Win it this year!

EB how was it even close? Did you have a player out?

Much more to this story, and it is not a done deal. Other than Webb, Catholic has the only other real coach in the area. Look at how CAK is struggling with a well coached team.
