  1. Solid opener for Union City. They may very well be the best team Trigg County plays all year. Union City controlled the line of scrimmage and it helped them average over six yards a carry. They mixed up their runs well and Trigg didnt have an answer. Trigg hurt them with their passing game, which would have been more had their receivers caught the football. Trigg quit throwing downfield in the second half and ran the football more with little success. I think Nicks would be more effective at LB or DE opposite Caveness. Kicker had a great game for UC. Solid opener for UC heading into the off week. Trigg having a down year and it showed tonight. Good luck to the Tornadoes the rest of the season.
  2. Fort Campbell is the two-time defending Class 2A Kentucky state champ. CPA has been bumped up to Class 3A and makes the trek to Fort Campbell Friday. Thoughts?
  3. It was the one before Gleason backed out. On a Friday night. I understand Union City is stout against the run because of their pressure but that it may leave some receivers open? And have they settled on a quarterback?
  4. Well, they likely would have been better prepared except for the UC coaches not allowing them into UC's third scrimmage. I'm not sure you can do that, but I still look forward to an interesting opening night game.
  5. Trigg County lost a lot of their skill players from last year's 6-6 team. Their running game appears to be struggling right now. Defensively, they return seven starters from a good defensive team last year. It will be tough to make the 1 hour 45 minute drive and play against a good Union City team. Union City should have the advantage based on who they have coming back and the fact Tennessee schools are allowed four scrimmages and Trigg played their one and only scrimmage last week. I look forward to seeing the game.
  6. Fort Campbell football games can be heard on WHVO 96.5FM and online at http://www.oldies1480.com. Fort Campbell plays Christ Pres. Academy, Kenwood, and Pearl Cohn this year.
  7. Does anyone know where I can find a roster for the TN/KY All-Star football game to be played next week in Lexington?
  8. Are you sure you were at the right game? Alcoa played Hopkinsville, not Trigg County.
  9. So does Alcoa usually drop a game when the officiating doesn't go their way? Do they normally play games in August or do they wait until October when the weather is cooler? They should have cancelled the game in April when they began advertising for the opening instead of waiting this late in the summer.
  10. If a team chooses to pay the opt-out price like Alcoa did, that's fine. But they were advertising in April for a game on Aug. 18 -- the same date as their trip to Kentucky. Hopkinsville found out and asked their AD about it, and he said they would still play. Alcoa sent a copy of the contract and the check back to the Trigg County AD, the host of the bowl game. No phone call. No letter. Didn't even let Hopkinsville know they were cancelling the game. Apparently the Alcoa boosters paid the opt-out fee after telling the AD and coach they weren't supporting the trip. As far as last year goes, the Alcoa people were slightly agigtated about their late start. Of course, the first game was delayed due the heat (KHSAA statewide rule). Alcoa chose to drive up and back in the same day last year. This year, their game was moved to the first game to avoid such a late trip back. As far as Warren goes, he threw a punch at the Hopkinsville player. In Kentucky, you get ejected for that type of thing. Did the Hopkinsville player start things? Yes. Should the Hoptown player have been ejected? Probably. Should Warren have been ejected for what he did? Absolutely. I have nothing to do with the Hopkinsville program and don't even live there. But waiting this late in the summer to cancel a game without as much as a phone call or reason lacks a little class IMO. If they didn't want to play, they should have canceled back in April when they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar with their on-line request for a game on Aug. 18.
  11. The three players that really stood out for Tennessee in my eyes were Craddock, Kevion Jones, and Magnifico. All three are headed to community colleges which tells me they have D-1 talent but not D-1 grades. Tennessee had much more team speed than Kentucky and it showed.
