Should be an interesting game this week. Central pulled a major upset last week, wished I would have went to that game other than the beat down of Fulton. This is the game I will be attending this week. Central fans, are the Bobcats back or did they just play out of their minds or is Morristown West overrated? Wildcat fans, where do you feel your team is right now?

To go back to my previous post, I agree that band does not need to be discussed on a football board. I was trying to spark a conversation as to what is going on in Halls. I believe that discussion has began. Looking from the outside in, it is obvious something needs to be done. Halls is not discussed a traditional power anymore. It is not due to lack of talent. What is the problem then? Is it offensive scheme? If so, what is Halls waiting on? Are they waiting for their best kids to transfer to other schools and be irrelevant? If that happens then yes Halls will be a fine arts and baseball school, that is if the baseball players do not start leaving because they would like to play football as well. They better be ready for Thurs night. If not getting beat on TV and not even being in the game will hurt keeping some of the future Red Devils in Halls. They could very well be Eagles, Panthers, or jump the ridge as it seems some of the coaches did.

ZCAR, You make a very good point. Of the other district teams Powell, Oak Ridge, AC, Central (after last night), Karns (letting go of their head coach), Clinton (great season last year), Hardin Valley all seem to be at least making a effot to move in the right direction. Halls and CC not at all. CC just do not have players. Halls has had them just do nothing with them. It has to be frustrating if you travel and watch them every week.

I was shocked at how easily Powell really dominated this game. Powell is much tougher and a much better football team from players to coaches. Fulton may have had some better athletes at certain positions, but Powell had better football players. Looks like Powell has an excellent shot at winning their region this year as long as the Mobley stays heathly. As far as taunting, who cares. Fulton I am sure did it to them last year and there was talking from both sides during the game. Fulton got what they deserved after running it up on a helpless Karns in the Jamboree. Good job Panthers.

I am looking forward to this one. I believe Fulton will pull it out in the end. They are loaded with athletes. What time should you get to the game wanting a good seat?

Good, glad that has woken up the message boards. There is still a little fight in Halls fans. They are just on life support. I agree talent comes in cycles, but that cycle has been good at Halls the last three years. Look at the talent in that school in the last three years. I remember all those kids growing up and they could play. Once high school rolled around it seems as if no one took advantage of that talent. I have no clue how to play a musical instrument so no I am not a band member, ever a band member, or have a child that plays in the band. I am just saying maybe you should support the only thing that is still good at that school. If people didn't have to come watch that powerhouse offense you may have even more ticket sales to see the band at half . Don't get bent out of shape, I am just stating what I saw. I think I will go watch a real game tonight with Powell and Fulton, again SC by as many as they want.

Halls is a baseball and band school. If it wasn't for the band no one would come watch football and if it wasn't for baseball no one would care about anything else. Last week the only Halls people cheered were band fans. Interception nothing, fumble recovery nothing, flute and bells heck yea. SC by as many as they want. Somebody see if they can play fall baseball.

Tough, tough loss for Halls. The next several weeks look to be difficult for the Red Devils too.

I believe Halls will win this one. Too straight years of close calls in week 0, if they don't look for another 0-4,5, or 6 in the crossroads. I believe this is equally important for Clinton is the same stand point. This game will set the tone for the season for either team. But hey you don't have to worry about going 0-10 with Karns, HVA, and CC in your region.

Where is this one played at?

What time is the Alcoa scrim Friday and where is it at? I wouldn't mind watching two big time programs go at it and eat some Big Ed's.

I try not to respond to West fan's posts but sometimes you have to. Central is not a good program? If I am not mistaken Central has won more games than any other program in Knoxville. They had something like 8 or so years, maybe more, with 10 wins a season. Yes they have been down the last couple of years but with the guys they have returning and incoming freshman I look for them to start to get that program back to where it was 3-4 years ago. As far as West running through that division as you call it, were they not playing those teams like Central, Halls, Powell, a couple years ago with the likes of Maryville. They didn't run through it then what makes you think they would now? West win more than 6 or at best 7 a year and then come talk to a program that consistently won 10 games a year for almost a decade, the same amount of time you were in high school, but hey a lot of people go to school for seven years

Halls fans where are you????? How are they looking, what players are taking leadership roles left by seniors last year, how is the coaching staff looking, any injuries, any surprises? It is unusually quite on the Red Devil front for this time of year, is Halls now a baseball school?

Billygoat, I had heard that central got two from halls a while back and posted it on an earlier thread. Who has replaced these coaches? Why are Halls guys leaving the program? Also, how has the first week looked and when does Halls scrimmage, dates and times?

DD, what is going on in red devil land? Day before pads and there seems to be no interest in the football program.

RR....Last year the best quality win West had was beating a 3-7 William Blount team. In spring, and yes it was spring and scrim games, but they got beat by Grace ( a 1A team) and Central (2-8 or 0-8 however you want to look at it) how are you even coming up with the image in your head that West is the best team in Knoxville? Sounds to me you are the Shallow Hal of high school football in Knoxville. What you see in your eyes no one else is remotely close RR.

You can't blame those three leaving for those reasons. I am sure the basketball coach took a pay raise to come to Grace as well which make life easier on his family. Hopefully he can make it through the probation. Where did the two new assistants come from? I think I know and if I am correct this will make one of Central's rivalry games much more interesting.......

When you only win 4 a year, I would try to start winning some scrimmages and count those as well. If they are 1 freakin a you should have no trouble beating them in anything except maybe a chess match.

4-6, 5-7, 7-5 man I want to come play there. West is awesome!! Cummings seems to be knocking off top teams in the area year after year and improving each year just like Bruce is doing at Tennessee. 7-5, 5-7, and then 4-6. I can see the improvement there. They only beat one quality oppenent last year and have been beaten by Central and Grace (1a) in scrim games in the spring. Far from the best team in Knoxville.

catcall you seem to be in the know on central athletics, there seems to be a lot of turnover in coaches at the school this year. Is all the just sheer luck or is there a reason the basketball, baseball, and DC all left in one year? Was there anymore turnover as far as assistants?
