  1. Actually he has two little daughters, a newborn and a 2 year old that he get's no time with during half the year and he made the move primarily for them so he could have time with his family and also be closer to his dad to spend a bit more time with him. He will be an assistant at Tullahoma which is a good program and one of his friends from high school ball is the head coach there so it's a good fit for him. He could have probably had the Blackman job if he'd wanted and he has turned down at least 3 offers from triple A schools over the past 2 years. He will definitely be missed. He was a great influence on our boys at Eagleville as players and young men. He demanded their best and held them accountable (something a lot of coaches do not) for their actions on and off the field. He was also there to pick them up and to give them a pat on the back when they needed it as well. He worked extremely hard and the first year he was there he worked every fund raising event we had, every MTSU basketball game, football game, Vandy games when we did those, everything. He spent countless hours on building the facilities which are outstanding compared to where we were 4 years ago, not to mention the many hours of practice and preparation. We now have a beautiful field and a very stable program. From my understanding Eagleville has 6 transfers coming in and another 6 from middle school feeder schools other than Eagleville. We wish him the best and appreciate all of his efforts and the care for our boys. I think coach Tollett will find a good replacement for him who can continue the program. Out of the 12 seniors that graduated this year 7 were with him all 4 years. They will always have a place in the history of Eagleville's athletic programs. To the best of my understanding all of those seniors had a 3.0 or better grade point average and the majority if not all will be attending college and 4 or more of them with athletic scholarships and 8 or more with academic scholarships.
  2. Eagleville has only pitched 3 guys in their 3 games. They've allowed a total of 11 hits over 3 games. They still have Hammonds who can go a full game and who tied a State record as a sophomore for strikeouts in a State game with 16, they also have McDougal who has as much rest as Fisher for Decatur and they can call on Smith for an inning or two. Behind them they have 3 other senior pitchers who have a combined record of 8-2. So they have a little bit left. Hats off to Cascade who did a great job taking Decatur to a 2nd game.
  3. Without a doubt. The two teams from D9 faced each other 6 times this year and split so 3 of each's in the loss column were from each other. Impressive indeed. Go D9.
  4. To add to your comment Coffee, Eagleville and Cascade faced each other 6 times this year and split down the middle so when people take a look at their win loss columns they need to realize that 3 of those in the loss column were against each other and not just losses against anybody. I would love nothing better than for them to get to face each other for a 7th time this year. Best of luck to Eagleville and Cascade who've both reached the final 4 in the State. WOW! GO D9.
  5. Go to tssaa.org all the bra let's times even play by play re-counts.
  6. Its official Friendship is out they go down to Knox Grace 11-3. Cascade wins 5-0 over North Greene.
  7. Two great games in the 1A bracket at Riverdale. Eagleville pulls out a 1-0 win over Knox Grace with only 6 hits between the 2 of them. Then a 10 inning thriller between Huntingdon and Friendship as Huntingdon takes it 2-1. Wow talk about great pitching and some great defensive plays by all teams. Round 2 today.
  8. Riverdale may depend on who's on the mound. Don't think JK will give anyone 7 runs and they are DEEP in hitting and with power. The top bracket is ridiculous anyway. It's almost as bad as football, most of the top teams are from the middle to east. To have MJ, Farragut and Riverdale and Arlington in the same bracket.
  9. Honestly I think us fans probly put more thought into it to a point. I think when teams play each other that the coaches do mental and written notes. I know our coach uses a chart that is kept up with at each game. I'm sure FC's coach does the same. But yeah I think you hold your cards as much as possible.
  10. Eagleville faced Cascade 6 times this past season. Twice he was the starter and our ace Smith faced him, the first game went 10 innings and we lost 2-1 on a passed ball, the second we hit him better but had an error that cost us the game in the 7th. Very familiar with Carkuff. Over the past 2 years we've played them 11 times in regular and post season. I think this years final 8 are all decent teams.
  11. Sorry, I was looking for it online on DNJ.com. Just read it, so the Eagles played in a rematch of the District 9A tournament, I could have sworn it was the Regional Championship but I didn't see those two words in the 4 sentence blurb. Hard to see paying for a 4 sentence write-up, especially after the number of times player's names have been spelled incorrectly and often attached to MTCS or other schools and vice versa (and again our person calling it in knows the correct names and how to spell them). It's a busy week, I understand, full article write ups on tennis and track for the bigger schools outweighs any true coverage (call-ins and borrowed columns are the norm) of what has been the most consistent and most successful baseball program in the county for 3 years running hands down. Those of us who feel this way are not saying there shouldn't be coverage for the bigger schools but please, really. There have been plenty of opportunities to give some decent coverage throughout the year given the format of district games, etc. Excuses are a dime a dozen. Ask yourself this, would your sports section need more than one page (only slightly sarcastic) if you cut out all of the Riverdale coverage of all their programs that get top notch coverage (not saying this should happen, just an observation). If not then maybe you need to take a look at that. All the other schools combined get maybe a 3rd of their coverage. Again for those of you who want to read about Eagleville baseball, there's another full page article on the Regional Championship game at the Shelbyville Times Gazette webpage, although it has a bit of home flavoring, which is understandable since they cover all of their home county teams well and evenly.
  12. Also that I've seen so far, not even a score from their 3rd straight regional title in the DNJ. They should really be ashamed of themselves. They told a couple of our supporters and our coach that it was demographics and they don't sell many papers in Eagleville. Well two things, 1) maybe if they wrote about Eagleville activities more they'd sell more papers and 2) they fail to realize that the majority of the kids I'm the sports program are from Christiana, Rockvale, Blackman and other more centralized communities within the county.
  13. Mt. Pleasant at Eagleville. Ring pitched for them Tuesday and if he goes it'll be on 2 days rest. A tough assignment even for a pitcher his caliber. Smith will likely start for the Eagles. Cascade is on the road to Columbia Academy who has been hot lately but carkuff will start and should be tough.
  14. Eagleville's brought their bats out finally. In a 15-2 win over Cascade they hit 3 home runs and McDougal pitched a great game. Eagleville has won 3 straight Regional Championships. Congratulations to their senior players, that is a great accomplishment.
  15. Allison at WHH is a very good pitcher and he's a junior. Good velocity, good off speed. Congrats to the Eagles on a hard fought victory.
  16. Haven't heard that, may depend on where the end up playing, home or away.
  17. Most likely, Rippy vs McDougal. The opposing region for sub-state matchups did not play either semi-game last night, they play tonight which means most likely Eagleville and Cascade will not see the ace for whichever two make it to Friday, at least not for a full game. I would think Smith and Carkuff will both be on the mound Friday.
  18. Actually they broke last years record. This will be the 6th time they've met this year. Game is at 6:30 pm at Cascade according to the paper. If I'm correct I believe this will be the 17th time they've faced each other in the last 4 years, what a bunch of seniors these two teams have. If both can get to the Fling they could potentially meet one or more times there as well, crazy but great rivalry between them.
  19. You big dummy. Instigator...lol...Eagleville and Cascade will meet again Wednesday I believe for the 6th time they're both good teams.
  20. Does anyone know if the Single A matchup between White House Heritage and Eagleville is rescheduled and if so when? Thanks.
  21. Lots of rain yesterday. If anyone has word on whether a particular matchup for today's first round of regional games has been rained out or rescheduled please post it here and when it is rescheduled if that is known. Also what class it is for single A, double A or triple A. Thanks.
  22. Y'all got a tough draw, Friendship Christian, Monday night May 16th.
