  1. This is a travesty and will ruin our sport in Tennessee! We do not have the numbers to support multiple state championships and having multiple state tournaments will not do anything to make it better! Wrestling is for Warriors, it breeds champions in life! We are digressing from what the sport stands for and represents! This is coaches who know they can't compete with the schools who put in the work from kids club through middle school and into high school. We are not Pennsylvania with 600+ schools with wrestling. Heck we aren't even Georgia for that matter. The metropolitan area of Atlanta has the population of our entire state! If you have to change something to appease the coaches then simply keep separate team standings for d1, d2, and a small school division if you must but let the kids wrestle! it's a simple fix ! Please do not take drastic measures that will ruin our sport as we know it! What are we teaching the kids? Are we saying, " son you aren't good enough to compete with a Soddy, Cleveland or Bradley kid because we only have 500 kids in our school"? Is that what out sport is all about? Maybe it's time we remind the t$$aa that it's not about making money or making coaches feel good. It's about turning a kid into a champion the old fashioned way! Hard work, discipline, dedication, sacrifice. I can't wait to see how many people were "supposedly" at the tournament this year. It was a shame that there weren't more Nashville people there. I would say there were half the numbers Chatt would have had. One more thing, please get an announcer that can read, can pronounce names , has some personality and excitement in his voice, and knows something about wrestling because one of those guys was embarrassing.
  2. I second that! Great job! Got a feeling many more will be coming their way!
  3. 103- holloway d-2 maybe bonus 112- Robinson d-2 bonus points 119- d1 in a close one 125 Watson d-2 bonus points 130- maley d-2 Lewis has wrestled both Manley and Watson in practice as well as lost to some they have beaten. Woods gave Lewis a scare at the end and No way he does that to Manley 135 Baker d2 in a close one 140- dosterd2 in a close one 145- hooker d2 bonus points 152- toss up, colbaugh is tough but hasn't wrestled top competition. We'll give it to d-1 though 160- duncan-d-2, 171- martino d-2, not even close, definitely bonus points. 189- Davis d-1 easily 215- Bolton d-1 easily 285- not sure on this one. Was impressed with Gougher but will give it to d-1 on experience level. With the bonus points for d-2 and maybe winning at 119, 152,and heavy it looks like d-2 in a landslide.
  4. You d-1people are living in a fantasy world. Some of the picks are laughable. There is a big difference in the quality of opponents in some of these schools. What's worse is some of your pics were beaten by their d-11 counterparts. I can assure you Baker, Duncan, Doster, Holloway all win. Check out their results when they wrestled. The Holloway kid got better and better through the year. I think the new Baylor Heavy would win as well. The Bradley guys have wrestled 0 competition other than Soddy and Cleveland. I think Manley beats Lewis. Ask some people in the know because I'm positive they have practiced together. when I get home I'll do a little research but I say d-2 wins this dual easily.
  5. My sources tell me Baylor had 4-5 starters out in that match and even had a couple of forfeits. It would not suprise me to see a huge reversal in that score in the rematch.
  6. We certainly hope so. I just hope we can contain Elder
  7. which school has the best freshmen group
  8. Mr Scott , Forgive me if I misunderstood your tone but you are mistaken. The red White and Blue club appears from the title of the post to be a kids club for the upcoming youth season. While in fact Utc does offer some training to area wrestlers I believe it is done in sessions of which the sessions are now over. I do not believe they have a competing kids club of any magnitude if at all. I have not seen them at any tournaments the last few years. In fact the schools that you listed above all have their own kids clubs that compete in 10-14 tournaments a year. Baylor, McCallie, Soddy, Bradley, Cleveland, have the largest clubs in your area bar none followed by probably 7-8 smaller clubs that all do a tremendous job of promoting our sport and young athletes. This is a compeptive league wich requires a tremendous amount of sacrifice and devotion from its coaches as they are basically devoting every weekend for 4 months to coaching kids. Most of these coaches do not charge exorbant fee's and most barely cover their own expendentures if they are lucky. I say we need more clubs in our state to promote our sport and increase the # of participants. Im not undermining anything Utc does but dont belittle the efforts of the youth coaches who have been doing this for many many years and who have turned out the best wrestlers our state has ever had.I have been down a few times and enjoyed the Utc practices and especially the quality of the kids but I have also heard from many that the practices at Soddy, baylor, Cleveland are every bit as good as far as technique and structure for the younger kids.
  9. you have to remember a lot of the best middle schoolers dont wrestle Aau events so you may not see them often other than middle school or national tournaments. The below wrestlers are the best middle schoolers I have seen. Some of them may not wrestle many Aau events so they may not be in the state but would definitley not have any problems imo. 1) kennedy (havent seen him in Aau state latley), Sutherland(havent seen him in aau state latley, new kid for Pigeon forge (dont know his name but he is the real deal ), these three will win any middle school tournament they show up at imo. Is Eli king in middle school yet? if so go ahead and oput him in this list as well. 2)Murphy, Holloway, Russo, Debien, Ryan parker, ezra taylor, Cale Shelton, Seth Hubbs (all studs and the only reason they arent listed as co#1s is because they may be in the same weight and wrestle each other) 3) Shinsky, , Aaron Oliver, Caleb powell, James westbrooks, hayden hammonds, 4) Cyree, Brooks Knight,
