  1. TD2--- I did not catch your name?? We field our team with REGION 2 first.. this year we had so many holes, we opened it to ALL Regions (upon request). First come, First Serve! All the other topics you choose to bring up.. others can deal with that. For REGION 2 Duals...email me directly.. coachjonestrained@gmail.com I will let you take over next year. You can assemble the Team(s) and Coach also. You seem to have all the answers(which obviously you do not understand REGION DUALS.. not ALLSTATE DUALS, the ALLSTATE DUALS are in Iowa and Kingsport.) If you are too pathetic to answer whom you are.. then shut up! I get so tired of hearing all the bull crap from the keyboard CHAMPIONS.. You have no clue all the work that I personally put into this.. which is number one reason I am pissed off when you start mentioning Knoxville. The other coaches may not care.. but for me.. I Do... 2. Doesnt look like anyone from Knoxville is on here complaining about scores being run up??? I really hate posting responses to someone i dont know.. Who are you?? Did you read Tnyouthwrestling on facebook?? Because we pieced our Region 2 knoxville team together with alot of kids that WANTED mat time... not the best but wanted to be there.. sure they may have lost but that got the mat time, they learned and will get better. We as a whole Region need to do better for sure.. but NO ONE IS COMPLAINING THAT WRESTLED SUNDAY.

  16. Seriously?? How in the world did this TOPIC change so drastically?
  17. Durdon.. you hit the nail on the head...It is the offseason.. And as I stated many of the teams in TN are getting on board with this.. a rise in the USA wrestling numbers... along with the Duals we have begun to put together thru AAU and High school teams traveling too in the offseason has helped. We still need to duplicate the efforts but it is building. Archer is a NEW school, NOT new kids to wrestling. They have been putting in the time for many years! a NEW wrestling program is a team like Clinton TN... they just started last season and have some talent but not national level talent.. You take them out of state and you get dominated, that will not fair to well on the kids (just one example) Last Point: You can add in a few additional out of state trips for the High school and that will help some, but why do we always use the excuse of changing the rules??? that's like saying, huh my kid would be winning matches it they would give us 3 points for takedowns... It just takes more dedication and putting the correct people in place in a program to help build it up... finding the best youth coach or finding the best club coach that is willing to travel etc... Those coaches in GA are sending their kids to the WRESTLING ACADEMY... and the ACADEMY is doing their job to make this kids the BEST.. hard work is paying off...
  18. They didn't just travel and all of a sudden they gained the national ranking... they beat a very solid OH team of recent along with competing against tough nationally ranked teams along the way. And the WRESTLING ACADEMY is where most of these young men have been training(if not all)... Dustin Kawa is doing great things there!! I think many of the TN teams are catching on.. it is just a process that takes time, which once again I feel many teams are now putting in.
  19. I was waiting on the strength part to come in! As a Wrestling Coach, maintaining strength is huge. However, So is the first hour of all wrestling practices! This is where the give and take must come in. If we as coaches are wanting the best of both worlds, then the wait lifting must be in the morning and the wrestling still in the afternoon. Football coaches are not going to allow the Wrestlers to take the first hour of Football practice and go get some wrestling drills in, Are they? Next issue, Weight Cutting? Most certainly weight cutting would not be as much the issue if the strength is maintained! All are Valid, however we are preaching to the choir here... How many football coaches are browsing our wrestling forum boards???
  20. Sad, That is the issue all around Knoxville, for the most part. Many coaches decide that weight lifting year round is more important than stance(foot work) and coordination. If they would send those football players to us more often than not they would be much better players.. I never discourage these kids(wrestlers) to go out for other sports.. as much as I would like to train kids year round, sometimes a kid needs that break from Wrestling, whether it be baseball, track, or football etc.. Ego's get in the way too often but if you have an open line of communication with the head Coaches of all sports, football, wrestling, baseball, track... your school will become more dominate overall... Anyway.. just some thoughts. Best of Luck..
