  1. Centrals defense forced 3 turnovers and some untimely penalties from Creekwood hurt them. Centrals offense ground it out on the ground and their QB had some key runs late in the game. In OT after Creekwood scored Central took it in and went for 2. End of game!!!!! 22-21.
  2. 1 Portland 2-0 100.0% 3-2 60.0% 2 Springfield 2-0 100.0% 4-1 80.0% 3 Creek Wood 1-1 50.0% 4-1 80.0% 4 Montgomery Central 1-1 50.0% 4-1 80.0% 5 Greenbrier 1-2 33.3% 1-4 20.0% 6 White House 0-1 0.0% 3-1 75.0% 7 White House Heritage 0-2 0.0% 3-2 60.0%
  3. Thoughts? Central's triple option offense. Scrappy defense against Northsides size and athletes.
  4. Having to forfeit first 5 for playing an ineligible player??
  5. Central is off to a 2-0 start. Healthy, hungry, and ready. Thoughts against county rivals, Creekwood.
  6. Central won 14-13. Offense moved the ball all night. Came up with a big TD with 1:06 left in game. Defense came up with a couple of 4th down stops and shut them out in the second half. Academies running back (22) went out with cramps early in the 2nd quarter and did not return. Central has much improved and has playmakers on offense and speed all over the field on defense.
  7. Central picked up its first win against Waverly last night. Congrats to HC Tomlinson and his staff. Stewart comes to the Hill next weeks. Thoughts???
  8. You guys should continue to roll. Big, physical, and tough. Good recipe for a great team. How is Mitchell Potts? I hate to see a kid go down like that? Good luck the rest of the way.
  9. Wow!! Hello Men. Double slot option.. Multiple formations to mix it up. Multiple front attacking defense. We will have fun and win ball games. Happy Trails.
  10. Why are Division I private school office personnel allowed to contact our players and parents to recruit them to participate in athletics at a reduced tuition cost or even told "not to worry about the tuition"? I wonder how they get a specific list of athletes and phone numbers? Always thought this was restricted to the Division II schools in Tennessee. How far will coaches go for the "W"?
  11. The interview process is winding down and a decision is said to be made by the end of the month. The top two candidates are Jeff Tomlinson (OC) from Creekwood and Larry Lepkowski (Asst Head/DC) who is currently on the staff at Central. The program will benefit from either of the two getting the job. There are two teaching positions that Tomlinson could fill. An AP History position and the soon to be vacant ISS position that will be open when Bragg departs. There seems to be a lot of support for Lepkowski to get the job within the community and he has a lot of experience from within the program. Talk is that the new hire will come from very close to home with much closer ties to the school and community. That being said you never know. There is also some encouraging news with the incoming freshmen class. 52 are participating in voluntary winter work-outs with many of them with previous playing experience. It seems like the changes made in the program in the past few years are sparking a continued interest in football at Central. "Go Indians".
  12. Exactly true. We are doing our off-season training program which began after the 3 week dead period at the end of the season. The boys get together on their own and do conditioning drills that are football specific (They have cones and footballs). As long as there is not a coach supervising or on the field you are ok. Our training program is supervised by our strength coach who happens to be a football coach. That is OK with TSSAA. Weight training, plyometrics, ladder drills, etc. I have a specific question. When are all of you bringing the Junior/Middle school players into the conditioning program? We do our football middle school briefing in December after the dead period and start bringing them into the program in February. Our school system requires us to purchase a separate liability policy and we do not allow the middle school players to work-out or even be around the high school players until they are promoted to the 9th grade.
  13. Cutbacks or "serious problems" have nothing to do with it...It is all about timing and administrative decisions. Unfortunately, things happen in athletic programs, i.e., coaches get hired/fired/let go, etc. Other coaches are hired/fired/let go for other reasons. In any athletic program timing is everything. Sometimes it just has to be the right time, for the right coach. We shall see, but I am sure the right man for the job will come along at just the right time, as it always does. Go Indians!
  14. There are likely several local coaches in the area that could be good fits for this program. Former CHS Head Coach Jim Snyder who is the DC at Clarksville Academy, Montgomery Central DC Larry Lepkowski, and Creekwood OC Jeff Tomlinson have been mentioned to be interested in the job. Sutherland has a lot of passion and energy for the game. Whom ever comes in will be faced with many challenges in keeping this program on the right track.
  15. Who will be the top candidates for this position? The team lost many seniors due to graduation and will be rebuilding with a lot of underclassmen carrying the load for this recently revived program. Bragg has been a mainstay in the program and the community for the last three years. He will be missed by the players who he had a knack of connecting with. We still believe in God, Family, School, and then Football. Good luck Coach Bragg.
  16. Harpeth has found success this year with a more multiple offense and a scrappy defense. Are they as good as the record indicates? Heard that number 12 is a good QB that can scramble.
  17. To the coach of Obion County...what is your deal? You go to a HS knowing full-well you are going to beat the team, yet your pompous attitude insists on making onside kicks and 2 point conversions???? THAT is extremely ridiculous, and extremely over the top. You need to humble yourself, and your team. And for what it is worth, I hope someone kicks your butt this season because you and your haughty attitude deserve it.
  18. ERIN — Eric Reames, the head football coach at Houston County High School in Erin, has been indicted on a felony charge of statutory rape by an authority figure. The indictment was handed down by the Houston County Grand Jury late Monday afternoon. Investigator Brian Hooper of the Houston County Sheriff's Office said Reames turned himself in this morning and was booked into jail, then released on a $3,500 bond. Reames, 29, has been suspended without pay from the high school since late January. According to the indictment, he allegedly had sex with a girl older than 13 but younger than 18. The investigation was conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the case was presented to the grand jury by Dan Alsobrooks, District Attorney General for the 23rd Judicial District. This guy is toast. He has brought embarrasment to the entire coaching community, his school and needless to say his family.
  19. Anyone think Montgomery Central will move up the ladder? I heard they have many key returning starters on both sides of the ball.
  20. Non-District schedule is Clarksville Academy (A), East Robertson (H), Rossview (A), and Obien County (H). Schedule is tougher than last with CA much improved. Rossview will be a test, and Obien County was a 2nd round play-off team. The kids are working hard and many of the quote "players" and committed and leading the way for the younger kids. Should be fun!!
