  1. You got me nailed there weak. But it's fairly safe to bet that most all of us murvil fans have some wb roots. I finally seen the light!
  2. Good point about the D. I'm sure Coach Gaylor will get'em revamped. It may just take a few games.
  3. We don't have to play on other nights, but someone is choosing to do so.
  4. I believe it was our school and one of our murvil city schools. To think the savings in one area of funding does not impact other areas of funding is ... uh...duh...naive? I say we close all of them down and build us a baseball field and a softball field. Everyone knows the TN public schools stink anyway. What would we really lose? What's up at the middle school this year? I drove by to see only about 35 kids in spring football practice. I know we have lost some kids to webb, grace, cak, etc, but I didn't think the impact would be that big. I know some left over being pi$$ed about the fort craig deal, but I can't believe that is all of the reason. Anyone know where the kids went?
  5. Thanks OR2. That report beats none! Seems odd to not have a scrimmage. I was only kidding about the baseball athletes, trying to get some sort of discussion going. But I guess there are a few. I like that word "opportunity"! I guess I'm a little more excited with the unknowns this year. Last year we knew we could let our qb run it if all else failed. He didn't "have to" run it much. This year...time will tell. I would think the run would be the bread and butter, but some really good linemen moved on - again there is an opportunity! Maybe it's play action to the corner with an smaller qb? Maybe more screens? I hope the new turf don't make alcoa look even quicker!?! Is Hambrick gone? Is little old rebel 2 healthy for spring? I think he will have an even bigger year come fall.
  6. Why is it so quiet? Are all of the better players playing baseball and not out for spring practice? Is there a scrimmage planned? With who, where, and when?
  7. What's the plan during alcoa week when the field gets painted? Just paint back over it?
  8. Sounds good Stars. I haven't heard much. Ol rebel, I didn't mean to imply that's why he quit football. I think most everyone heard why. I was only stating that contact did not appear to be his favorite part of the game. Therefore, sitting out shouldn't affect his aggressiveness - IMO. Maybe he has changed and is now suddenly a headhunter? I hope he hasn't - with his quickness, avoiding contact should be a good thing. How have the qb's looked?
  9. Yep,OR, that's who I meant. Sometimes sitting out could hurt, but he never liked the contact anyway. So maybe he will just have some extra fresh legs. Any pleasant surprises?
  10. Thanks for the help there Dad - much better choice! Maybe I heard wrong. I thought an old ball coach had told me they were starting this week. There doesn't seem to be the excitement yet. Maybe everyone is still playing softball/baseball. I assume when they do start we will get some updates.
  11. Sorry about that SS, just habit I guess.
  12. It started this week? let's hear about the new recruit. I heard he is a sure D1 kid. I also noticed some construction on the field. I guess the turf is going in?
  13. Billy Blunt has really turned it around. Good players + good coaching = WINS Has anyone seen the jr at hairtage throw that made last yrs' USA national team? How has he looked?
  14. I remember a guy like that: IF he had been a few inches taller; IF he had been quite a bit heavier; If he had been a little stronger; IF he had been a little meaner; IF he had been more of a leader; IF he had been a little tougher; IF he had worked harder; IF he had been a little smarter... THEN he would have been as good as some other players out there. BTW...that guy was me! Yeah, murvil's qb was not that impressive last year. Are you kidding me? He was the best player on the field in every game they played in last year (except the last one - IMO). And that was playing with the "big boys".
  15. Heard Serrano broke a rib. Is that true? If so, how long is he out?
  16. Yessir Stars, that video was really interesting. Maybe there is some oceanfront property close by. I 'm always forgetting about Tellico Beach. The torn acl's or torn up ankles with be something to keep up with. I know we have had some on the real stuff. Time will tell. It will look awesome. After it goes in, I hope my kid is a statistic for the fake turf and not against it. I wonder why UTK doesn't use it? Yep, greyrider could give us a rebel flag to be seen from outer space! Should we go with some colored turf (red or black) to give the black hole some extra home field advantage like Boise State?
  17. Dang jake, if we had known that's all it would take to get that boy of yours in the red and black, we would've snuck up there last year and done some painting on the field. If it's going to affect our recruiting, we will have to get it cleared thru Stars. By the way, would you like to buy some advertising space on our new jumbotron? Or on the side of our stadium? For the right price, you might even get your name on the side of the school. That would be a real "hoot" for you, wouldn't it?
  18. I'll match your $20 pledge c'reb - with one condition...Can we make sure our $40 is used to buy the paint for the big, permanent rebel flag in the middle of the field. It will look awesome! Seriously, I can't wait to see it.
  19. Can't we just get along? Some folks don't quite understand all of the numbers - and believe me - frydaddy understands - it's his job to understand. I would advise backing off him on this subject, but do what you want. BTW, his ties are actually to another school. But the fort craigers are only one group. Evidently, we can take away their umbrellas and forget about them. The folks against all the governent spending won't see this as a role of government - unless their kid plays sports. Maybe we are using some of the obama bucks (our tax $) to pay for it - if so, I'd like to have mine back. I would like to see it privately funded, and not just a promise to pay it back. I saw the baseball team practicing at SS last night. Once they wake up and realize turf is going in and there is a new gym floor for the basketball guys, they may even realize why murvil baseball is the laughing stock of east tn for not having a field. Or maybe they won't wake up.
  20. Govman, Any idea how much more the murvil field is used than wb's? I know of about 3 playoff games and then about 4 middle school games. But I think wb allows several more peewee and midget games than murvil. Soccer? What's the secret govman? Spreading some special manure over there? Blount's field does seem very good at the end of the season.
  21. I'm hearing it too. It's going to be a long rocky summer.
