  1. At the Rebels game in Troy. Berner will be tough down the road. Getting in good reps now as a sophmore and will make many forget about Phelps by the time he is a Senior. Ripley has way to much speed which the Rebels do not have. Hang in there Rebels....
  2. Union City ....what can we say. W C is very very young and will be back with Rice and some time.
  3. No matter how much smack/trash talk we do on these forums...the kids are the ones who represent our schools, bust their @@@ in preseason, spring, fall and winter. Its the kids game and I wish every kid the best, no matter who you play for or did play for. High school sports are for all of us to enjoy, but a real deal as well. The coaches, it's their real job and what puts food on their tables. I may not agree with every coach, even a coach Jackson but I do have some type of repect as they are teachers of the society. I truely hope this was a quote that never happened and just the opposite....they are winners, win or loose and someday will be leaders for our country, state and county. Good luck, we need positive things in our communtiy now, to much negative right now and I want to be one to help change that. Good luck against Ripley...it will be a tough game but if comes down to coaching, O C should have the advatage.
  4. I really hope he did not do what is quoted here. Hope this is just a rumor.
  5. We should stop back by at McKenzie after the Wayne Co. game and play them again letting our freshmen and others who do not play much get a game in under their belts....lol...Mckenzie.....lol!
  6. You bring up the point I was looking for. Yes, building up the kids is the quote I am looking for. I'm not cuttung down any player or the team in what they have already worked very hard for. I just find it hard to believe what we all watched last year with high scoring games...playing your starters til almost the end, onside kicking against a team like Gibson County when you know your going to cream them ( 48 - 0 ) at the half if I recall correctly. The coach himself has put the team in the position their in himself, no one else. The scrimage games, who knows....Camden was prob. playing their second string most of the game from what I saw Friday night by both scores ( O C & Camden games ). Last year with the team jackson had, by the middle of the second quarter, many subs should have played, the start the first tema at the start of the second half and then let subs play 1/2 of third and all of 4th qurters, building for this year. The Rebels have a solid Q B in the works for sure in Berner, he will be tough come his Senior year. But the Warrior games, a joke ? That is something you might have in middle school, did it work? NO!! time wasted. Posting the video on the teams website and facebook showing the kids working and most then who knew football the Rebels were in for a long season. Instinct tells on a human and most knew this was going to be a rebuilding year and looks like next year will be also. There are bright spots at receiver and a back or two. But what happens between now and then? Who quits, who doesn't show back up? That is already affecting the team with one game, one loss, one quits. I'm just stating the facts. It happened to Union City last year, team should have been better but some quit and throw injuries in there and the season went south quick but knew they had what it took with healthy players to get back on track...and they did. 3rd round of playoffs and almost 4th round. It doesn;t matter, 1A, 2A , or 6A, all games are played, all have kids who play football and all have the same work days to schedule practice. JUst think Jackson has a system that doesn;t work with the head games. I will not post anymore on this post. I wish the Rebel team the best and hope they now go 9 & 1 but we all know that is not going to happen. The kids work hard win or loose, they have to practice each day in the heat, cold or whatever. If you know anything about football, you should understand that what you have seen out of your team since mid July is inconsistant in what and who shows up. There just simply is no highly skilled players on both sides of the ball and after a year like last year is like knocking you off your feet. Union City and many other teams have been there but know from year to year what is coiming and not beentaken down a road by a coach who tells most that his team will run the table again or compete with most district teams. Til we meet again, good luck to all.
  7. Please understand, there going to have to do lots of suckin' up this season to even compete. That statement is a very true statement. I'm not a coach but with as many seniors as the Rebels have ( 21 ) and prob. half of them didn't play much last year and the remaining one did play alot last year, they're going to have a very long season. NO offense at all and very little defense with the experience that has come back. I was really disapointed to see how the Rebels played against Union City, I really thought the game was going to be close...10 points or less. Coach Jackson put all of his eggs in one basket last year ( 2011 ), with only 1 playoff win and it is now showing A good coach with as many seniors and juniors as he has had the last 3 years.....one good season is not enough, most all coaches would have won last year. . He knew at the end of the first quarter last night against Union City, he was beat...and by a single A team at that, not good. I'm not a big fan of his, neither are several of the parents who have children playing for him, but the Rebel program has him. His bluff is now showing. Most any coach can win with what he had last year and would have gone further into the playoffs. We all want the Rebels to win for exception of when playing the Purple & Gold . Now we will wait til that game starts up again in a few years. To bad, Union City will be loaded for the next 4 years at least. But either way, the game goes on, this game is over, done with and I'm glad, win or loose. Now we both can get on to our normal season. It is ashame that it comes to a end for now. Good luck the rest of the season, hope the kids continue to work hard but I know the heads are down after getting drilled like they did Friday against Union City and with 9 more games to go, most of them tough, it's what you pay for when having a coach who threads his best night after night, play after play with no planning for the future. This season didn't have to be like it is about to be but you can blame the coach, its his way.
  8. My word to Butchie is, Ive been tellin ya all preseason what is about to happen..."if ya can't stop it...come watch it" baby.
  9. scratch a win over Crocket Co...they beat humboldt. So down to a possible 3 wins.....One win for sure...Gibson Co.
  10. They did shake...especially coach Kennedy. I have spoken with someone that was there til way after the game.
  11. I think he means a "in trouble" long season. Very few wins.
  12. I was able to put my short trip off til morning. I didn't get there until right aafter kickoff. Stayed til about 2 min left in the game. Union City has alot of work to do. Not impressed at all in pasing but why pass when the team runs the ball so well...ball control. Personal foul penalties has to be stopped and due to what everyone put at stake.....maybe that will change next game. Union City has alot of speed but handled the Rebels line very very well. Not impressed with their size. # 69 is good but very slow on feet..especially for a senior. Q B for Rebels will be a player his senior season..time will show that. The Rebels reminded me of the old Rebels...just playing hard...doing their best but just not enough speeed on both offense or defense to contend. From what I saw tonight....the Rebels will go 4 & 6 , maybe 5 & 5. But could only win three. Union city on the other hand has some very tough games ahead as well. Going to be a tough season....anyone could beat anyone. Good luck Rebels...keep your work up and heads up, good things shoudl fall in place here and there. Should win against Gibson Co, Maybe Ripley, Haywood, Crocket Co. and a very outside chance for Mont. Central.
  13. Good luck folks. Great weather and lots of folks expected. I have had something come up at the last minute and don't know if I will get to attend tonight's game. It will be last minute. I also hope to be in range for a radio if I have to leave and can listen to and from. Things come up ...and ALWAYS happen at the last minute when you have had plans for something else for a long time. Hope to be on the board later tonight.
  14. Yes....Fulton City is on 4 different schedules that I have seen. Oh...and Union City plays Huntingdon as a off game as well....top that my friend. Lake county will be very very lukcy to have as good of a record as they had last year in 7 and 4. Good luck and hope your full speed by the time we play you...we don't want any excuses.
  15. WhatI'm about to say....please don't take this wrong O C Fans but I think it shows the truth. Not many have the excitement this year knowing the Rebels have a huge mountain ahead of them replacing all they lost. The Rebels simply do not have the skilled players it had last year....that is easy to see and understand. So, most of those posters that were on here last year were all new to the game anyway, bandwagon jumpers as I like to say or call them. They realize what is about to happen, may not come this Friday or it may. The last half of the season the Rebels will be very lucky to win a game. Lots of sweat went into preparing for tomorrow nights game.....there will be a winner and a looser. The Tornadoes will be fine either way and I personally think they might just have their way all game long. I also, reallly feel that the Rebels line will tire quicker than the Purple & Gold linemen simply because of their size. Union City linemen are big but not as big as some of the Rebels but will be much faster also. This time tomorrow night, the game one will be out of the way and will be time to start preparing for game #2.
  16. I'm right here. Have not gone anywhere. Not really all that much to say other than it should be a good game. The edge to Union City.....just simply because they have just about everyone coming back. I personally do not think O C has anywhere close to the speed on the outside to catch Union City. If Union City gets by the Rebels for a couple of T D's....it will be a very long night for the Rebels...Union city will take full advantage of that. I also think Union City will mix things up and being very early in the season...9 our of 10 teams that you will face will not be in the shape that Union City will be in. O C's front line will do well to hold Hyde in his place at times but the Rebel line will not be able to move as fast as what they are about to see. Hope and pray for a good ...clean game.
  17. Like I said...more problems for lake County. Do yall remember me mentioning about the pancake / rent-a-win teams.....well, let me see, I have the schedule.....Fulton County....lol.....you want me to continue.....Fulton City......these are off games. Union City....we play defending state champions Wayne County, 4A school Obion County. I'm not wanting to stire any crap...just wanted to state the facts. You play your of games to get better. yes, Lake County is playing a very very good Murray team to open the season. I think it just pays when your planning ahead. Good luck we will be ready come October 5th/
  18. Should be a good game. Union City will come into the game at about 98% full strength. Obion Will have a few out from their sickness or recoverying from that. Obion played Camden pretty well, Union City and West Carroll played a good jamboree game. Now it is season "game" time...the ones that count. I look for Union City to have to much speed on their side of the ball. Obion prooved they can score. How much better is Union City's defense going to be this year ? How much weaker is Obion's explosive offense going to be this year ? Turnovers will be the key. Union City will have a tough time running the ball up the middle on the O C big line...on the other hand, Obion won't have the speed on the outside to catch up with the Tornadoes. Union City by 10 to 12 points. I look for a game where the winner ( Union City ) hits 30 points...not much more. Good luck to both.....on a injury free and healthy game with great sportsmanship.
  19. To defense to Union City's passing game, their #1 receiver in Lewis has not played in either the McKenzie scrimage nor the Jamboree against West Carrol. He will play against Obion. He is the fastest kid on the team by far. Bowlin is a clock control freak...the more time he has on his side of the ball, the less chance anyone else has at scoring which means run the football. They are going to throw....but only when needed. Once Lewis gets back....the throw game will open up.
  20. I too feel it is a loose, loose situation for the Rebels. It is a loose, win deal for Union City. For the Rebels...so what, you beat a 1A school...how does this look when the season ends and playoffs comes around...they compare OCC record and sees that win over a 1A school by a 4A. Won't work....even if the game is played close...still a loss for the Rebels. On U C side...you beat a 4A school but then look who you beat and have controlled that series for years...not much gold there. On the otherhand...those in east Tennessee say...wow, a 1A school beats a 4A school. It is only a gate thing. I personally like fo them to play. But in real life....unless your some private school that has 300 plus kids and most are there for sports....not many small schools...public that is , is going to win over the larger schools...especially when 3 classifications split them. In the Camden/OCC Jamboree Game...not much defense for 40 plus points to be scored in just 20 minutes of football. Union City will be ready for this game and I think speed kills and that is something the Rebels do not have this year. Union City by 10 points.
  21. Just over 40 points combined between the two teams. The game I was told ended in a tie.
  22. by the sounds of what folks told m...lake county has alot of work to do and huntingdon is tournament ready.
  23. If the Lewis kid "is" out for Union City...tonight...next week or the next few games...it will hurt and change their passing attack plan for sure. He is the fastest kid on the team and has great hands. He won't play tonight anyway if he is banged up. Union City will run and run with a pass mixed in....but Lewis adds 750 to 1000 passing yards to Union Citys game. They had 800 plus last year with the starting Q B only playing the last half of the season.
  24. Maybe that is just a rumor. I wouldn't think he would play against West Carroll or even Obion but he may on the Obion Game. Keep us posted and where did you hear this ?
  25. Your hearing wrong. He should be ready for Obion game if not Wayne County. he is ok.
