  1. Escape? What a homer! Dumbest post on this thread. CR lead the entire game by 7 to 10 points until the last seconds and then made a crucial basket to win. I guess they "escaped" the other three of four wins as well, huh. Truth is neither the 37 point win by CR or the 16 point win by JC is any indicator of how these two are as compared to each other. CR won by 3 at JC and by 2 last night and this is truly how close the teams are. They both have a ton of grit and that was on display last night. Hats off to JC who could have folded many times but fought on the entire game and made it a good one to the end. Two best coaches in Class A and the two best programs as well. 16 state championships between the both of them. If that doesn't show 7A dominance then I don't know what does. I assure you CR will try real hard to escape with another win at sub-state.
  2. The UC/Clarkrange game was the ugliest game I've ever seen. UC can make it ugly and if they do JC might be in trouble. They are big and brawny but not very talented. In the paint it will a war but JC should own the outside game. I will say that UC is very quick and they play great defense. On a side note I hope that JC is not saddled with the same refs as the ones that called the UC/CR game. Not saying they were the difference. Everyone knows this is not one of Lamar's better teams and CR couldn't have won that game if there were no refs but the obvious bias shown towards the CR girls was saddening. At one stage the foul count was 8 to 1 against CR and tossing the ball off the leg of a player and then allowing the opponent to pick up the ball and drive for a layup is criminal. Possession must first be established and then the ref can begin his count. That one play summed up the way this game was called. I hoped that it wouldn't be a problem but when I saw the refs and then saw the UC team I thought it could be. Nothing against UC. Those girls deserved the win. CR was outmatched but really, refs must be professional and keep their skin color, yes I said it, out of the game. I have never cheered for JC at any time against any opponent but after that display yesterday, I think everyone in 7A is a Blue Devil today. Good luck to Coach Brown.
  3. 1st quarter was irrelevant as ST closed the gap to 2 points in the 2d. CR won by 17. That happened in the 4th. Hopefully, the Lady Buffaloes are building momentum. BTW, there's a reason teams have bad quarters and only get three off rebounds. It's called the opponent.
  4. Well, that was a stupid comment. Clarkrange is one of the top 3 teams in Class A. The few teams they've lost to are all in higher classes and Ensworth is undeafed. Ensworth, White County, and McMinn are the only CR losses so wise up.
  5. Clarkrange whips up on JC and wins by 16 after leading by 23. Congrats to the Lady Buffaloes.
  6. Don't know the girl but honestly, it's girls high school basketball. If the area you live in doesn't support it then it wouldn't matter if she went straight to the WNBA. Girls basketball is a niche. It's big in some places and nothing in others. It's probably more popular in TN then anyplace in the country but that is due to the success of the Lady Vols. In other states you won't find 200 people at the state championship. Even in the SEC most arenas are virtually empty when the girls play and that's college level basketball.
  7. The fact that both teams in the C'ship game were from 7A only strengthens the point. There's only five teams in the district but what a district. Just sayin'
  8. The bottom line is 7A dominated the all state team with 6 selected out of 15 total players. All other districts contributed 9. One district with almost half the selection testifies to the quality of basketball in 7A. Good job girls.
  9. Apparently, the video shows that a trainer/ball boy for GB was throwing a water bottle to one of his own players and the top came off and water hit the Asst. coach which incited the incident.
  10. Clarkrange is always good. Jackson County is always good. No point in squabbling as these two are always on top of the district. If CR plays their best they can win. If JC plays their best they will win. That about sums it up.
  11. The record book missed one....Clarkrange 2008-2009 team 39-0 State Champions.
  12. What a silly, childish post. I hope you are proud. That particular team, with the exception of one player, all played together in the Clarkange school sysem their entire lives. They won the state championship in 8th grade as well if I recall correctly. Clarkrange and York draw their entire rosters from the same county and Clarkrange has only had two players in the past 15 years plus that came from out of county. Get your facts straight.
  13. And then when Clarkrange beat Jackson County twice in the regular season and once for the district championship the very next year going 39-0 with a 26 point margin of victory per game, or don't you remember that? By the way given your incoherent rant, are you actually a human or did someone teach an ape to type?
  14. Don't know. I couldn't coach a bunch of high school girls for more than five minutes but he's been at it for over 30 years. I believe he's been in the state tourney 19 times and won 8 championships so CR is in the tournament on average every other year. He is a great coach with alot of patience.
  15. Hope so. I'll be there to see. 1000 wins is quite an accomplishment.
  16. So you're a referee now. Not surprised.
  17. Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion but if you were to be honest you would see that CR missed every three pointer they attempted before the fourth quarter, all of which were uncontested. It wasn't great defense that forced those misses, they just couldn't throw it in the ocean. The three's brought CR back not inside play where the injuries hurt CC. Once CR started making the three's, one of which tied the game at 47, CC started falling apart. Second guessing and talking about could'a, should'a, would'a, is always easy. I am sure Coach Sims felt secure in having the ball in the hands of Roach with a three point lead and less than 30 seconds left in the game. Who wouldn't? And, to be honest, Roach would make that easy shot nine out of ten times but she missed and the rest you know about. All of this is why they play the game. Whining about injuries, refs, and coaching might make you feel better but it won't change the score.
  18. I understand that comprehension of the English language is difficult for you but considering your upbringing I am not surprised. Your first sentence is unlegible and makes no sense but again, I'm sure your neck is a deep hue of red. I have already stated that CC should have won the game but they are certainly not a far better team than CR. If they were they would have won wouldn't they. But, they didn't, they lost. A far better team doesn't give up a ten point lead. A far better team doesn't fall completely apart in OT. A far better team wins. CC blew the game, CR just turned up their game in the fourth and in OT and secured the win. And again, since you can't read, I've already stated that I believe Sidney, Sydney or whoever Roach is the best player in the district. Also, I certainly did not intend to imply that the fans of CR were any classier than anywhere else. There are plenty of bad sports and enough "hee haw" nonsense going on in everyone's stands and yes, the person you mentioned is one of the ring leaders. So, let me state again for the "reading is fundamental" group. Clay County should have won the game but they blew it. It had nothing to do with injuries, the refs, the coach, god, the fans, the hot gym, karma, or anything else. They couldn't adjust to Clarkrange picking up their game in the fourth quarter and they fell apart in OT turning the ball over and panicking. They lost, get over it. I am sure that when next these two teams meet in CC, Clay County will not fall apart if the game gets close and if Clarkrange doesn't start to play with some emotion and better attitudes, they will have a decent but not great season.
  19. Maybe you should take the "chaw" out of your mouth and try some coaching yourself. Coach Simms didn't need to take a time out with a three point lead and 30 sec left in the game. Sidney Roach is not a freshman, she's played a game or two. I am sure the CC coach was just as surprised as everyone else when she decided to try and drive in for a layup. CR didn't start playing until the fourth quarter and OT. Prior to that they were just hanging around.
  20. I hope the girls from CC are going to be alright but to imply that any player on the CR team intentionally hurt either of them is extremely childish on your part but then again, you are from Clay County where "class" is something you go to in school. CC is a very good team don't tarnish them with those comments. It's in bad taste and certainly shows no sportsmanship.
  21. Yes, of course it was the refs fault that CC lost. Every time they lose it will be the refs fault if you're from CC. In truth (something rare at this site), CC should have won this ballgame. CR played eratic until the fourth. They seemed to be running around on defense like puppies loose in the yard. Before the fourth I think they were about 1 out of 10 from the 3 point line. CC took advantage of that and kept a nice lead throughout the game. Losing Ogelthorpe had little to do with CC losing the game. She was basically a non factor throughout. The one play that cost them the game in regulation was Roach trying to drive and make a layup with 30 sec on the clock and a three point lead. She should have held onto the ball and forced CR to foul which they would have to have done. Instead she missed the layup, CR rebounded and came down the court for the three to tie the game at the end of regulation. In OT it was all CR. CC was done and fell apart in OT after not closing out the game in regulation. Clay County is very good and well coached. They just made a few mistakes that cost them the game and I am sure they will learn from them. Roach and Cooper are their best players and I'll go on record in saying Roach is the best player in the district. They need better play from their point but they are tough. Clarkrange was lucky to have won this game given the three quarters of sloppy, lazy play. When they picked up their defense they began to click but they have to come out playing that hard from the jump. Right now Coach Rogers is experimenting with his starting line up and had a new one last night but these girls just don't show the intensity that is the Clarkrange brand. After the game the CC girls were crying. That loss hurt them. I seriously doubt that any Clarkrange girl would have shed a tear had the outcome been different. I don't see the heart, the passion, or the want to in the Clarkrange team.
  22. Final Score: Clarkange 57 Clay County 52 CC led almost the entire game by 7 to 9 points. CR didn't start playing till the fourth quarter and came back. Game was tied 47-47 at end of regulation. In OT Clay County sorta fell apart and CR played steady to squeeze out the win. Very good game.
  23. Well, the CR girls aren't going to just stand around and watch that happen. Post play goes to CR, guard play is a push. The 5'10" freshman phenom Cooper from CR will be the difference in this game. Playing on the opposite block from Dickens she will determine this game I believe. If she's playing loose CR wins, if she's playing like a freshman, close game. She has the potential to be the best player in the district. Not there yet, but she's on her way. Just needs more experience. This game will be a good one.
