  1. pitchfork: "I wish the coaches would rotate a RB in after he has one of his long runs so that he can get a blow on the sideline" don't know if that's appropriate in public WH by 10 they own MC
  2. As a resident of Sumner Co., I'm very proud to see the Commandos in the spot they are in now. I don't think they could be in a better position right now. Playing a shaky NE team on their own field... I realize Clarksville NE beat Beech and I know they have some really good athletes, but I expect Hendersonville to roll past them in this one. Hendersonville is huge on the D-Line and I just don't see NE matching up with the Commandos physically. The hits will take their toll, and in the end, the bigger, stronger team will prevail. I don't mean to blow up the Commandos so much, but I just don't see NE beating them. But who knows, maybe NE shocks me in this one Good Luck, Commandos! Prediction: Hendersonville: 35 Clarksville NE: 14
  3. As a resident of Sumner Co., I must say I'm very proud of White House and Hendersonville. No one thought White House would win last week. No one thinks White House will win this week. That being said, while I'm not a betting man, I don't think even Phil Ivey would bet against the Blue Devils this week. I attended the Greenbrier-Lexington game, and honestly I wasn't too impressed. Lexington is a smash-mouth run oriented team that plays a very slow-paced grindout type of game. I was impressed with their line and their persistence, but honestly, if Greenbrier had more depth, they probably would have beaten Lexington (they atleast would have gone into the 2nd half with a 20-6 lead). Of course you have to factor in turnovers, which Lexington did a good job of forcing a few, but they are a very beatable team. For White House to win, I think the Blue Devils will need to match Lexington hit for hit. The Blue Devils will supply a healthy dose of the run from the I, but don't be surprised to see WH throw the ball very effectively and lethally. They have 3 or 4 really good receivers. The more physical team will come through in the end, and after hearing about Liberty Tech, there is no doubt in my mind that WH is by far the most physical team Lexington has faced all year. It will be a tough game, but I believe in the BDP and I know those coaches will have the Blue Devils ready to play, they always do in the playoffs. I'll actually provide a prediction for this one... White House 35 Lexington 28
  4. I was hoping Greenbrier would catch fire against Chester County and get rolling in the right direction again..... Well, a win is a win, and the Bobcats advanced. Unfortunately, they get a VERY good Lexington team (from what I've seen). I'm sure everyone has seen the video of Lexington absolutely destroying a Liberty Magnet team that is "full of top athletes." Lexington looked big, fast, disciplined, smart, aggressive. This doesn't look too good for Greenbrier. I will say this, however. Greenbrier is one of the more resilient teams in the Sumner-Robertson area, and they are always tough to beat. I doubt Lexington has played a team as scrappy and tough and resilient as Greenbrier. Anything can happen on Friday, and, of course, Greenbrier has a shot to beat a really good team and advance to a possible rematch with WH.... I'll not waste anyone's time with a prediction and let this one play itself out on the field.
  5. As a citizen of Sumner Co., it's nice to see a few teams move on. This should be a very tough game for the devils. But if predictions were all that mattered, there'd be no need to play the game. That being said, I think WH has a good shot to steal this game from Liberty. Liberty (from what I've heard) is clearly the faster and more athletic team. Maybe that superiority gets the Crusaders a little TOO confident on Friday and the blue devils shock all of Jackson, or maybe it just plays out on the field the way it does on paper and the Crusaders mop the floor with the devils. I'm sure most of you have seen the video of Liberty losing (rather badly) to Lexington. If Liberty comes out sloppy and sluggish on Friday the way they did against Lexington, I expect WH to win. Coach Porter will surely take advantage of any opportunity he finds. As for my honest prediction, I'll stay safe and just let this one play out on the field. (Im praying for a WH-Greenbrier rematch)
  6. I know absolutely nothing about Chester County, so I won't be making a prediction. For the sake of district 9, however, I hope Greenbrier will snap out of the funk they have been in lately. If Greenbrier can turn it around in this game and win big, maybe they could conduct a cinderella run to the quarters or even the semis...
  7. All this talk about WH vs. Lib. Tech. is absurd. Both teams have to play Round 1 before we need to discuss that matchup. I see the White House/Mont. Cent. going one of 2 ways: 1) White House COMPLETELY out-hits Mont. Cent. and run away with an easy win. If White House can come out from the very beginning and be the more physical team, especially in the run game, and put up a couple early scores, I think White House will move on to Round 2 with an easy 28-7 win. 2) White House, in unfamiliar territory as a 5-5 team that scraped its way into the playoffs, comes out humbled just to be in the playoffs. Montgomery Central bashes time off the clock with that Wing T offense, they score early, and they throw in a couple trick plays while White House can barely get the offense rolling... Mont. Cent. could come out with a hard fought 14-10 win. Living in Sumner Co., I get to see White House quite a bit and I know the coaches will have that team ready, so I'm expecting outcome number 1.
  8. On paper, David Lipscomb should win by a couple tds. That being said, I'll take MC by a couple scores DL- 14 MC- 27
  9. I don't think Smith County has the offense to compete with East Lit. Unlike Smith County, East Lit. is capable of breaking a big play at any moment. Good first round matchup, anyways. Smith Co.- 14 East Lit- 28
  10. Living in Sumner County, I like to keep a close eye on the local and surrounding athletics. Based off returning players and what I've seen during the summer tournaments, these are the conclusions I've come to: 9AA .White House looks like the clear favorite in 9AA. They shoot A LOT, but they shoot VERY WELL. They also have a couple of really strong post players. They're going to be tough to beat in 9AA. .Sycamore is getting a lot of hype this year. I'm not exactly sure why people are expecting so much from them. I see them finishing 2nd in that district. .Greenbrier will struggle after losing Bradshaw. They might even finish last in 9AA. Didn't get to watch them at all this summer, however. .Macon County plays as hard as any team I saw this summer. Their talent is very limited, but they play hard and shoot decently. They should give Sycamore a challenge for 2nd place in 9AA. .I didn't get to see Goodpasture play at all, but I'm not expecting much from them .Westmoreland is Westmoreland. They will best Sycamore one night, then lose to Greenbrier the next. 10AA .CPA and Maplewood should duke it out to see who comes on top in 10AA this year. Bradshaw is the big time scorer for CPA, but I think Maplewood's overall talent is FAR superior to that of CPA. If Bradshaw can dominate in the games against Maplewood, CPA will win 10AA. But if Maplewood can contain Bradshaw, which I think they can, Maplewood will run away with the district. .East Lit will be strong, much like last year. They are alot like Maplewood, except a little smaller. Expect them to finish 3rd, maybe even 2nd in 10AA .Hume-Fogg might be the biggest surprise in 10AA. They have some BIG post players and they feed the ball to the post almost every time down the court. I saw this team more than any other this summer. .I don't expect much from D.L. this season. They just don't have the athletes to compete in this district/region. .Unfortunately, I didn't see the remaining teams in this district this summer. I'm not expecting much from them, however. I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down to White House and Maplewood in this region. Maplewood has the athletes and size, but if I had to pick a winner, I'd say WH. Their shooting really is LETHAL. If the shots are falling at the right time and if they can feed it into the post when its open, look for WH to make a run for state.
  11. I've watched both of these two teams pretty closely the past couple of weeks. Station Camp fans, I'm sorry, but your team just isn't very good....at all. I mean, giving up that many points to one of the sorriest teams in the state (Portland0...that's just pitiful. Station Camp will struggle mightily in it's district, as well as this game. However, White House has had some struggles of its own, which will even the game a bit. I'll take White House's country boy/go-get-em/lets-grab-some-beers-and-a-can-of-dip-and-go-fishin attitude in a close game. White House- 21 Station Camp- 20
  12. To put it plainly, Portland High School football has gone down the drain. I'd be surprised if Portland scores a single touchdown, and I'm sure the Portland players, fans, and coaches would consider it a victory if they hold White House to 42 points or less. They went from state champs to state jokes. White House- 45 Portland- 0
