  1. Its official. The next head coach at Lincoln County is Don Thomas. A great hire. GO FALCONS!!!!
  2. Best FB team in the world? Their not even the best team in the state. Congratulations on your championship. But don't get carried away.
  3. Gold and Silver ball trophies already given out. Maybe they could get a Bronze ball trophy.
  4. Haven't heard anything official yet. I have only heard rumors. I hope your right.
  5. I guess I should let PBD answer this, but I don't believe he was questioning the young man that was voted MVP. He was questioning how in the world or better WHY in the world wasn't this talented young man starting.
  6. Football banquet is Thursday. Maybe we Weill find something out then. I'm still hearing Thomas.
  7. Ok. Nails down. Now take a few breaths. To me. Using Alcoa to squash the lower classification deal is a ridiculous example. Why use it unless you are saying there is that much talent difference in GC and LC. I personally think we are about even. LC is probably ahead because of depth at each position but I'd call it real close. I did say I thought I saw where you were going with the example but I still feel it was a terrible example. What I think is funny is how you think anybody said it was ok. I have said there was no benefit in LC playing GC. Would it be a good rivalry? Yes. Would it draw a big crowd? Yes. Would it benefit LC if they beat a 4A team without 15 state championships? No. That's my opinion. We will have to agree to disagree. I'm really not trying to put GC or you down. Good luck to the Bobcats and the O'Connor brothers.
  8. Personally I don't care if you played. You might have been al district or even all state. Good job. Now back to the real issue and problem at CPA. They need to reclassify. Its that simple. When teams are competitive, move into a different classification and start losing. It doesn't take a football genius as yourself to see the problem. Its a shame that the powers to be got rid of the coach instead of fixing the problem. CPA has some rough roads ahead.
  9. But unfortunately it wasn't Maryville fans bad mouthing Smyrna or Smyrna fans bad mouthing Maryville . It was a Maryville dad bad mouthing other Maryville fans. It got way out of hand and too personal and that's why the thread got shut down. A great letter from the family also at the end.
  10. Saw this coming. Really no benefit for Lincoln County to play this game. Playing out of classification to an under class is a no win. If you win the game, people say you should have and if you lose you get slammed. So no benefit for LC to play this game. If it was of no benefit why would they have talked about it in the first place? As far as a no win situation for LC I would have to disagree. GCHS has become a top notch program so it should be a big win if you beat GC. So what you are saying is if LC played Alcoa and won it should be expected because they are in a higher class than Alcoa. I don't think so...and I am not putting GC in the Alcoa class....just an example. LC vc GC would be a great game, being bordering counties, and the coaching situation, etc. It would be a huge crowd and a lot of excitement. Well the reason they talked about it was because OC was coming to LC. It is still a big game (as far as excitement and interest goes)even though OC is not coming. I don't think you can compare GC and Alcoa. This was a terrible example. That is like comparing LC and Maryville. I can see where you were trying to go, but you have to be reasonable. If we did play Alcoa , win or lose it would be a benefit for LC just to be in a game with such a great team. I agree it would be a great gate. Oh well. Just my opinion anyway.
  11. I've heard they actually have the funds to build the school. Just don't have the funds to run it. I heard property tax increases have been discussed. I think the sales tax is at its max right now. I have also been hearing rumors that Coach Thomas may indeed be the front runner.
  12. I am nuetral on this thread. Not even a Bulldog fan.( I did pull for them in the Championship game). I did notice the time between threads. Like I said I try and call them like I see them. No problems here. Take care. Good luck in the future although I don't think Maryville needs any luck.
  13. Hey I appreciate the note. That was an awesome letter and I'm glad the admin. guy posted it. Thanks for sharing the info. We could all learn from this. Take care.
  14. Oh ok my bad. Hey Sean shut your trap. Lose with some class. What? Wait a minute. Hold the presses. Sean was replying to DSM10 so I guess he did move on and a Maryville fan decided he had waited long enough to start rubbing peoples faces in their loss. So maybe you can take your own advice and talk with DSM10 about winning with class. Doesn't matter to me either way. I'm neutral. Just try to call them as I see them.
  15. Why under estimate. If Robinette doesn't get hurt they beat Smyrna by 70. Of course if you're going to speculate you have to say that if Meadows plays he shuts Maryville completely down and Smyrna wins by 21. Come on. Let it go. Maryville won. Congratulations. Now be half as good a sportsman as your team was and move on.
  16. Saw this coming. Really no benefit for Lincoln County to play this game. Playing out of classification to an under class is a no win. If you win the game, people say you should have and if you lose you get slammed. So no benefit for LC to play this game. I'm not sure if O'Connor was the one who talked about this game or if it was someone else. Doesn't really matter. I guess we will still scrimmage GC and maybe play against you in a jamboree. Difference this time the new coach might not have the same ( everybody plays) attitude that Coach T always had. Good luck next year. GO FALCONS!!!!
  17. I agree. I still think this is the case no matter who LC's coach is. I believe the athletes will still come to LC. Atleast until the new hs is in full operation. Then they will have to choose. By then if LC has turned it around to its winning traditional ways it won't be a hard decision, but if they haven't turned it around LC might start losing some athletes. Time will tell. Good luck to the Bobcats next year. GO FALCONS!!!!
  18. Yes it was in the 4th qtr when I witnessed the taunting and yes it was the pointing at the scoreboard, pulling at their jersey's and pointing at their ring fingers. Just plain and simple taunting, This was a little more than emotion. I know you can't take emotion out of a game much less out of young men, but there is a difference in jumping up and down, congratulating your teammates, celebrating and taunting the other team. This happened twice after each score and after each kickoff . I did see one of the coaches getting onto one of the players involved so I know it wasn't being condoned. This was just an observation by an innocent bystander. Its easy to see the other teams faults but not always as easy to see your teams faults. I am in no way saying that what Trezevant did was equal or right. There should definitely be some consequences and some actions taken against Trezevant. With that being said I don't think there should be any actions taken against Greenville. No excuse for taunting. No matter what the other team is doing. That's my opinion. I did it once after an interception. My coach took my helmet and I watched the rest of the game from the sidelines. Ran alot the next week in practice too. Never taunted another player again as bad as I wanted too. I knew the consequences. Just saying.
  19. Your loss was our gain. Our loss is your gain. Lets not do this again. LOL. The game between LC and GC just got alot more interesting if it still happens. Good luck next year. GO FALCONS!!!!
  20. Where to start. I was actually there for the 6A game. I was very impressed with the Greenville team. I was very disappointed with the Trezevant teams action and the lack of action from the coaching staff. Now here's where I get into trouble. I was also very disappointed with the taunting by the Greenville team. You have to rise above another teams actions and not lower yourselves to the other teams level. No excuse for it. Great win. A little tainted by your actions. Just somethingto think about. Congratulations Greenville on your championship.
  21. I personally don't think they should be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities. That is a privilege not a right for students that actually attend that school. This is so wrong on so many levels and opens up alot of problems.
  22. That and the last few pages had actually gotten way off course and way too personal. So its their way of nipping it in the bud.
  23. I agree that it should be about the games and the kids. The guys playing the game deserve the best experience available. That's why I would pick Neyland Stadium for the championship games. Yes its a long trip for west schools and middle. TN schools but its a perfect environment for a championship game. For alot of these players it will be the only time they will get a chance to play on a D1 field. It will also be a memory they never forget. No digs or complaints about cookeville. I enjoyed my time there. I'm just thinking about the young men that are actually playing these games. Not the big babies that think they are the ones its all about. Just saying.
  24. I agree, I've always thought he would eventually take over. He says he is happy with being an assistant though.
