  1. Ch Cannon, you are absolutely correct for most kids who play high school soccer in Tennessee! In Middle Tennessee, we are lucky to have a few schools with coaches that are actually pretty good who also coach travel in the offseason. My daughters love the small 3 month "break" away from travel ball and getting to play against their travel teammates on other high school teams. The "injury" fear is always there but I guess it is just as likely when they are playing travel ball!! Oh well, we love it all (travel and high school) and look forward to each season as it comes!
  2. It's his SON, bud. Think he would probably like to be there (actually at the game) to see him play his last high school football game!
  3. As the Tennessean reported this morning, both Bowers and Wade are excluded from being on the premises. Coaching aside, it is the last high school game for Coach Wade's son. What a shame that he would be excluded even as a spectator.
  4. Will Curtis take over the girls program at Baylor? I know he was the assistant and coaches the boys.
  5. MoonDog, she is already there, bud. She has already made the big time. Folks on here are going to cringe on discussing "travel ball" on a high school site, but I am just responding to your post. She is perfectly fine in Tennessee and will not be left behind just because she lives here. They may move sometime down the road as she gets older but she is doing fantastic right here in the Volunteer state. Did you pick up on the note she is already being considered for older age group US National Teams and possibly World Cup for the future?? She had a blast playing with her high school team in between trips to participate in US Soccer camps and games. I assume she will continue to play with her high school team as her schedule permits. In addition, ECNL is not the only way to the top. Her travel team has destroyed ECNL teams throughout the country (and continues to do so) and has several players on the team getting significant attention from colleges. Oh yeah, just wanted to also point out that EVERY player on the U-18 girls team in her club have committed to play in college with no ECNL connection. Just saying
  6. I know this girl and her family and they are completely first class! She is the best I've seen in this state as a soccer player (unselfish, hard working team player) and is also an amazing kid off the field!! I look forward to watching her play one day on the world's biggest stage!!
  7. Just dropped by the Women's Travel Soccer Forum and the last post was from AAASoccer one year ago!! Not a very active bunch!! Oh well, we will head off and do the travel thing with a great group of girls and look forward to gettin back on this board next year!!
  8. Thanks, Champ!! She committed to High Point in North Carolina! We are excited!
  9. Thanks, Boog for your insight and wisdom during this awesome fall season! I look forward to another great year of futbol next year! I have one that is graduating this year and has played her last high school game but (thanks to her hard work and passion through the years) will play at the next level next year! I am also blessed to have a freshman that should enjoy another 3 years of exciting High School ball!! I soooo enjoy this forum and thanks to all who participate!
  10. I just checked Oneida's schedule and they were UNDEFEATED (4-0) against Kentucky teams!! That's some good stuff there!! Maybe, just maybe, ya'll should schedule some more a dem KY teams!! If you played enough of em, maybe Oneida would possibly be considered for the Kentucky State Championship!!!
  11. Yeah, those dang publics like Franklin, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Hendersonville and Clarksville don't have a chance to make it in the soccer world. Oh yeah, by the way, we got put out this weekend by one of those dang ole' Memphis private schools, and yeah it was my senior daughter's last high school game, and yeah she never won her one of those high school State Championships, But you know what, she had a wonderful career with a great group of girls and a fabulous coach!! We won't point fingers at anybody else and the team will work hard and try again next year to get that coveted Championship. Good luck to the rest of you guys that still have a dog in the fight!!!
  12. Kaz, you may want to try another sport. Doesn't sound like this "soccer thing" is working out too good for you and your family. Life will never be fair. Just be glad your daughter doesn't play on a travel team. Talk about the inequity..... those big girls from the Northeast and those fast girls from California and Texas..... It's just not fair!!!
  13. Wow! My kid goes to a small private school and they haven't mailed her State Championship to her yet? When do we get it? I didn't know that only private schools get State Championships! That's neat! Now we won't have to play folks like Franklin, Brentwood, Ravenwood and Clarksville any more! So great to know the good news!!
  14. Mr. Kazam, like ChattCannon so eloquently stated, you don't know me or my family or where we play and I bet you don't know where most of these fellow soccer-fans reside. We are all just passionate about the sport our children play and feel sorry for whiners who will NEVER be happy because the system will never be fair. Our family has so many "participation medals and trophies" that our kids received when they were younger than 8, we have been donating them to local tournaments for giveaways. Not sure if you are only talking about A-AA but thank goodness we are not in that class. Our school plays all-comers from all divisions (Franklin, Clarksville, Brentwood - AAA: CPA, Page - A-AA; BGA, USN, FRA - Div. II-A and Father Ryan, GPS, Harpeth Hall, Baylor - Div. II-AA). As Booger so rightfully noted, schedules like this get you ready for the post season!! Not complaining!!
  15. Shazaam, Kazam!! I concur with BigG that I would truly love to hear your solutions. How do you even the playing field for everyone in the entire state of Tennessee with: coaches (experience level), players (travel v. no travel, tiny freshman v. big seniors), facilities, (size of stadium and bleachers), field conditions (artificial turf v. grass v. dirt v. potholes), schools (big v. small, public v. private v. magnet v. rural v. urban), location (East, West, and Middle Tennessee), etc...?? Not an easy puzzle to solve. I guess I am just old fashioned. I just appreciate the opportunity to watch my daughters play the sport they love, no matter who the opponent or where they are playing. Maybe we'll win a High School Championship one year! Who knows. Heading to Memphis this weekend to try to continue the quest.
  16. Totally agree that it can be, but can be an alternative to consider rather than calling a game short.
  17. We had a couple of situations like that during this season and our coach switched the girls around to other positions and worked on possession. We played balls back to our defense and keeper and just didn't pound it down the opponent's throat. There are ways to continue to play without humiliating the other team and still allow for your team to learn a thing or two.
  18. K37, little buddy, believe it or not, I do get it. After attending public schools from pre-k through 8th grade, we had the opportunity to attend a private school for the education. They did not even know my daughter played soccer and were pleasantly surprised to find out she was a decent player. She has the opportunity to play college ball, not because of the high school she attends, but because of the travel team she has played with for the past 7 years. WE made the decision to spend $$$$ to allow our daughter to follow her dreams. So sorry that the rich, private schools are coming to your little town to recruit all your "gifted players". We play high school ball for the fun of it and every now and then we win a few games. When we lose, we don't blame the other teams and cry foul cause its not fair, we learn from it and try to do better next time. Good luck next year!
  19. Wow! Kazam is a little fired up wouldn't you say? I didn't know that all it took was $$$$ to have a great team!! Need to tell my 2 girls that the last 7 years of hard work, sweat and effort to make themselves better in a sport they love were a total waste of their time!! What does a good "sweeper" go for these days? Couple a grand?? Oh well, I'll have time to think about it more next year as I watch my oldest play at the next level in college!
  20. Thanks, CHAMPDDS! It was a wonderful day for soccer! Hope your brother is enjoying his tenure at Ensworth. It really is an awesome school
  21. Wonderful trip to the beautiful city of Chattanooga to watch Ensworth beat GPS 1-0 and capture a third seed (and first week bye) for the upcoming playoffs!! Good stuff!
  22. Ensworth 1 Clarksville 1 GPS 1 Brentwood Academy 1
  23. I would say in no particular order: Franklin Houston Ravenwood Brentwood
  24. Harpeth Hall 5 Beech 0 - Ouch! Ensworth 4 Page 0
  25. Me too!! Would love to see some possible competition from the Chattanooga area for these dominant Middle TN teams! Y'all oughta head up this way sometime to play a little soccer during the regular season! Good luck the rest of the year!
