  1. Coffman won the large division. I do not know who won the small division.
  2. Thank you for the correction. I just saw that on the AAU site. They are still alive and doing us proud in representing our area in the state though.
  3. The report I just received also said that TN Express 10 U have won their first 2 games. Way to go TN teams!!!
  4. Try wdxeradio.com The do broadcast on the web. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You'll need winamp to play it.
  5. And if you will check, there are more gold and silver balls in the gym lobby trophy cases from the GIRL'S TOURNEY than from the boys. Giles County basketball tradition is in the girls' program. The boys' program is just coming into its own.
  6. Yes, Anthony Flatt is still the coach of the EO Coffman girls and is one of the coaches for Tennessee Express. Last year he coached the 10 and unders and a 9 and under (which I know is not a real AAU division, they played 10 and under teams). Anthony is a great coach who is able to see the potential in young players and turn it into something productive.
  7. Well, Mr. Climer, a sports writer for the Tennessean didn't seem to find the Giles County student section rude...quite the opposite in fact. Just read the front page of today's (Friday's) sports section and you will see
  8. Hmmm....doesn't Haywood have to get past Jackson Southside first? Folks, we all have to remember....this is tournament time...anything can happen. There are always upsets. You can NEVER count any team out who has made it this far.
  9. Hoosiers and Basketball Diaries (HBO movie with Mark Wahlberg which is no longer playing or available because of the violence and a school shooting portrayed)
  10. Would someone please enlighten me as to the outcome of this game tonight? Thanks!!!
  11. Page defeated Giles County with a last second shot 44-43.
  12. but I was referring to Lawrence County, not Lincoln County. They play tomorrow night at 9. [Edited by LadyCatsFan on 2-25-03 9:26P]
  13. Where will this game be played tomorrow night?
  14. Wow, I guess that Dale Carneige class on 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' is working in Columbia. I suppose there are no 'hicks' in Maury County. Oh well, I forgot that Maury County was the garden spot of Tennessee. Great game Bobcats!!! It is so sad to see when teams who aren't used to losing get beat. The game was a great game by two great teams. It is just sad that fans have to blame officiating. From my experience, if one call beats you, then you were in trouble to begin with. Don't let yourself get in the position to let one call hurt you. I do appologize to you, Phishguy, for Giles County not having the money to have gone out a built a brand new gymnasium for you for last night's game. Let us know when you are coming and we will do our darnedest to build one just for you next time. You see, in Giles County, we don't think that all of our money should go into athletics. We actually spend it in the classroom EDUCATING our children. Good luck to Columbia in the district, regional and STATE Tourneys. It is sad that more of you postitive fans from Columbia don't speak out so that the rest of the world doesn't get the impression that folks like PHISHGUY speak for you all. 15. E.O. Coffman girls defeated Summertown and both will advance to the "state" tournament in Macon Co. in two weeks.
  16. Anne Marie Lanning of EO Coffman MS in Lawrenceburg is probably one of the best 8th graders I have ever had the privilege to watch play. Her older sister, Scarlet, plays for Lawrence County, and I have seen her little sister Natalie play as well. They come from a very talented family.
  17. You are exactly right. Billy Mayfield would NEVER play a child who was risking serious injury. He is a class act and has the welfare of his girls as the number one priority of his teams. Jess is an awesome competitor. She is a team player and wouldn't let anyone know if she was hurting. She is committed to the game and plays hard no matter what the circumstances. I do give LCHS some credit for some great defense, but I also know that Jess's injury to her knee affected her shot. You could see it when she would go up for a shot. I am glad to hear that she is ok though. She is not only a top-notch athlete, but having had her in class I can attest to the fact that she is also a top-notch person.
  18. For the 80s one of the most outstanding players from the state with impressive high school and college careers (that I can remember and I am gettting old) is Sheila Frost from Giles Co. Sheila played for Giles County from 1982-85 then went to UT for her college career. At Giles County, Sheila led the Lady Cats to the 1982 AA State Championship. She also was the 1982 Shot Put State Champion. She led the Lady Vols to 2 National Championships in 1987 and 1989. She also played on the USA National team in 1987 and the Junior National team in 1986. She was on the 1989 NCAA All-Final Four team and the NCAA-All Regional teams in 1986, 1987, and 1989 as well as the All SEC teams of 1987, 1988, and 1989. As far as a professional career, there was no real women's professional basketball available to Sheila when she finished at UT as far as I can tell. (If I am wrong, please correct me!) I hope this is all accurate. I tried to remember the right stuff...lol...but like I said I am getting old. [Edited by LadyCatsFan on 10-12-02 10:15P]
  19. Knight, You better watch out...LOL You might have some upset Summertown folks by saying that Summertown is in Lawrenceburg. Those are almost fighting words in Lawrence County. LOL I haven't heard anything from the north end of the county this year but if what you say is true, it will be fun to watch the younger Eagles play.
  20. gomab Once again...do you even know Tyler personally???? I do...and even had this discussion with him today. HE HAS NO PLANS NOW OR IN THE FUTURE TO GO TO OAK HILL. Before you decide his future for him maybe you should talk to him. [Edited by LadyCatsFan on 9-24-02 10:39P]
