  1. answer to the goal keeper issue.. It is my understanding that for any kid to play in the all star game their school must be a registered and in good standing with the association putting on the event. The nominee must have played their high school season. Some coaches in good standing didn't submit a ballot. Lastly, the player declined. As for the other statement....their might be SR girls that make the all star game but not the all state list put out by the same association. The all state list will consist of Freshman-Seniors so underclassmen might push them off the all state list. The all star game happens before the all state list so they don't want anyone to assume because you made the Sr All Star game that you are automatically on all State but the majority of the girls will be.
  2. While you state your case eloquently the problem still remains St Agnes is losing their #1 fwd for the last 4 years who set up goals to be scored on platters and scored many herself...for 4 years people knew their fwd was going to go down the right side and yet 99% of the teams couldn't match her for 80 mins....while st agnes will continue to stress defenses they won't stress them from the fwd position at the level they've done for the last 4 years....most coaches know what a lot of teams are going to do and their tendacies but stopping it is another thing.....like i said they are favored to win their district...baylor is losing some major critical sr girls so St Agnes may go the whole way but I still stand by they will not score as many goals this year and many games will be closer....it will be fun to revisit this next year and see what happens.
  3. i don't believe the gap between St Agnes and Briarcrest will be as wide this next year. Briarcrest started strong this year..had a few injuries, etc and ended up fading at the end. If I remember right Briarcrest is mainly graduating two Sr's (one ctr mid and one outside mid). Next year, they will be lead by Gretchen Harknett (ole miss committment) and Summer Sheppard (Ark St) as their sr leaders next year plus some nice supporting talent. St Agnes will reload with some nice young players but none can replace the output of Bethany Bunker in goals or assists. you will see a drop in their scoring for sure. Dont get me wrong...they will be the favorite until beaten in their district but I think scoring will be more difficult for them versus the past 4 years.
  4. Interesting that in the other thread concerning Madison (which is an avg team at best) the ND fans defend their team and point to a picture from the madison game like they are the thugs, the reason for the card and the reason they struggled to beat Madison....yet look below in this game you see fouls 18 for ND to only 5 for the opponent..Can CPA say ya'll were dirty? 18 fouls?..FYI,your team across the state is known to be a "physical/dirty team" ....I hope it's fair if you can take one snap photo and paint a whole game that I can take one official stat line and paint a similar picture...just sayin... I will compliment ND and say that playing a good schedule definitely prepares you for the playoff run. (see last year) When you play teams like Bearden, Baylor, Rivals tournament, etc you are easily prepared to make a deep run in your state bracket...Madison I think played usj and after that basically played no one. this board needed some juice so here you go...
  5. while i think St agnes is a top team in the state I think Baylor is better this year. I predict 3-1 Baylor.
  6. I think I heard 6-2 BGA over Briarcrest..
  7. Regional final.....Houston over Collierville 2-1 waiting on arlington vs Bartlett game thursday night for sectional seeding... more than likely Bartlett will travel to Houston on Sat and CHS will travel to Arlington.
  8. Coaches agreement and supposedly as long as all the coaches agree within the district they can do this. Bottom line is for 10-15 years or so Houston, Collierville and Germantown have been the dominant three and they would have to play on Thursday for Dist final...turn around and play some really bad teams from inner city memphis on Tues and then turnaround and play each other again in regional final for seeding of sectional game. The local rival games are can be heated, playing the same team for a 3rd time isn't desired and the risk of injury moving towards state. The coaches agreed that the #1 seed during the regular season would be the dist tourney champ as long as they won their semifinal match and made it to the finals of district. They would have done the same thing last year and not play the district final but collierville had a players suspended and needed the game to get their players eligible for sectionals so Houston agreed to play the dist final last year to help them out. as proven..houston won 8-0 vs whitehaven and i guarantee you starters didn't play or play but the first 10 mins....Collierville won 2-0 vs white station which sounds close but they played bunker defense looking to get to PK's if possible. If white station had tried to play with them and get up the field the CHS counter attack would have easily scored 2-3 goals and the margin much greater. The only risky game left to state is the Collierville vs Arlington game that will happen at AHS this saturday..last year it went to kicks and i think it went like 15 kicks before decided...
  9. The tripod thing is stupid...it needs to be changed...someone probably complained they couldn't see past someone who was filming standing up using a tripod....most people that film go to the top bleacher anyway......every videographer I have seen in the stands uses a tripod or on the sideline and nobody cares. the only reasons anyone should complain is if a competitor tries to show up and illegally film.
  10. Collierville 3 Germantown 1 in overtime....both teams had chances to win in regulation. Houston beat Wooddale 8-0 No dist final..Collierville is 2 seed and Houston the 1 seed More than likely Houston will play whitehaven on Tues at home and Collierville will play at White Station. Both Houston and Collierville should easily play in Regional final next Thursday. The #1 seed will get an easy match to state. The #2 seed will more than likely have to travel to Arlington for a much more difficult match.
  11. update on usj info.....usj didn't lose a single senior last year. Also, both Honeye Heydari and Shelby Jordan play for 94 Lobos out of Collierville. They both graduate this year and will play college soccer at Miss St. Most of the girls in jackson play for the home town club Jackson Wolves but I think one or two other players have now joined different Lobo teams also. I personally saw them play at preseason this year vs collierville and went toe to toe so they will be a favorite to come out of the west with ECS, St Georges and Harding right there with them. They also have a new forward that will be joining them late in the season just in time for the playoffs that will make them more dangerous. She is a transfer and is having to sit out until the appropriate time. She is very fast and brings alot of pressure up top.
  12. yes...I was listing players from those teams that didn't actually travel to play "at state" ie..the neutral field site...I wasn't sure if the quarterfinals in private school was considered "making state" since the numbers across the state are so few. I've always taken "making state" in soccer means you are traveling to the neutral site city where the championship will be decided. Good catch....
  13. how is it unfortunate? The goal is the gold ball....knock out bearden and your bracket is easy...are you saying you want to be on the other half of the bracket where memphis teams have dominated the state final? craigmont and white station have already advanced to the semi's in their half of the bracket...you wouldn't beat either one of them....Teams who think they are going to win don't care who's in their way...teams who are weak and want to feel good about themselves want soft draws... I think the best 4 teams are in the semi's anyway so it worked out...just a shame west tn has to play each other in the semi's....

  15. Thanks for update...congrats to Ashley
  16. I find your quote that "one of them is a quality soccer player" is a little strong. When you mean quality player are you saying "national team player level" ...if not, what level? ...if there are 10 players better than the list in east TN then start naming them...i do know of 2 from "east TN" that should be on the list....let's review the list below and their colleges.....I know there are many quality players across the state but I don't think the list is as "bad" as you think...maybe this is just an East TN thing...I can speak more to the middle and west.... F: Bethany Bunker, St. Agnes Academy (Memphis, Tenn.), Jr. F: Cailin Harris, Pope John Paul II (Hendersonville, Tenn.), Jr. F: Olivia Harrison, Houston (Germantown, Tenn.), Jr. GK: Rose Hull, Ravenwood (Brentwood, Tenn.), Jr. D: Gracie Irby, Germantown (Germantown, Tenn.), Jr. MF: Kat Nigro, Livingston Academy (Livingston, Tenn.), Sr., North Carolina D: Ashley Reveiz, Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), Sr. F: Samantha Turner, Bearden (Knoxville, Tenn.), Sr. F: Chesney White, Franklin (Franklin, Tenn.), Jr. Bethany Bunker committed to Ole Miss Cailin Harris - Kentucky Olivia Harrison - Ole Miss Rose Hull - Fordham ( i think) Gracie Irby - Miss St Kat Nigro - North Carolina Ashley Reveiz - ?? Samantha Turner - ?? Chesney White - ??? Basically, the first six girls listed all committed to power conference Div I schools...Rose didn't committ to power conference but is a great keeper and I'm sure she had other offers. So basically you are saying that 5 of the 6 girls above are not quality players that have verballed?? I admit I know of two girls through club soccer in East Tn that should be on this list...IMHO...but i'm not going to say who...i have no idea how this list is put together. Usually there is politics in everything so i don't doubt that either....but to say the kids are not quality players and yet they have verballed to Div I schools kinda of blows my mind.....
  17. Humm....You may want to start at "home"...just sayin...
  18. from West TN Julie Eckel..SR..st benedict...keeper that has committed to Tennessee. Plays both keeper and fwd and just all round good athlete. Gracie Irby...JR...Germantown....centerback and one of the top scorers for Gtown. Currently Uncommitted.....
  19. I agree with your asssessment except probably franklin over houston strickly due to injury of Olivia Harrison for Houston. It is not uncommon for teams to play well against houston in the midfield and maybe even outpossess them a little but it's their counter attack that is the best counter in all divisions for the last couple of years that make them tough. Houston defense is better than last years so it allows them to stay in low scoring games...ie...ravenwood....if Houston wins today I predict they 3peat because they lose just a couple of players for next year. usj vs st georges was a toss up but a lean to usj for being more offensive...Congrats to USJ! Baylor over ST agnes...st agnes defense not as good as last year but still pretty good. Injury to st agnes defender entering tournament didnt help their cause. Baylor was team to beat this year. Congrats to Baylor! St Agnes is returning just about everyone so they should be back in the championship game again next year.
  20. interesting...i support canes thoughts...i like playing fall girls soccer at the same time that college coaches have their season and are not traveling as much for recruiting..... we play in premier league and all the games are complete except the TN teams playing all the other states. I wish more states would switch their girls high school seasons to ours......If club tries to switch to the fall we will still play high school. We enjoy our high school season and it is a nice break from club.
  21. I didn't think you were knocking Houston..I'm not a Houston parent...just a casual observer of local soccer...I will say this...if Houston is willing to fly to the west coast to play 2 top 30 teams nationally I doubt they are dodging anyone due to fear, etc...they didn't play Baylor either...maybe some gamesmanship or strategery (see will ferrell doing George Bush - SNL)...Houston will qualify for state so Bearden just needs to get there and we may get the match up after all...please don't misread me...Houston is beatable and so is everyone in the state....It will be wide open...good luck.
  22. what does looking back at a record over 5-7yrs have to do with this year's ranking? Is Eurosport ranking yearly or over a longer period of time? First, I'm not that knowledgeable but it feels like for the last 5-6 years Houston has had a pretty decent record and been to state. They won it last year and they are on track to be there again this year....I think if you polled state wide coaches in the know it would be my suspicion that Houston would come out on top strictly based on how they have handled their competition compared to other teams...private schools would be Baylor and St Agnes....IMO
  23. I few suggestions/questions....Notre Dame ranked 5 and CAK 6? Germantown played both and beat ND 3-1 yet lost to CAK 5-1...a saw both...my vote is CAK ahead of ND unless they have played head to head with ND winning... Briarcrest should be ahead of Gtown for now...they won head to head 3-2......Gtown beat ECS 1-0....St Marys beat Collierville last week 3-2....St. Georges and USJ tied.... Here's my West TN top 10 1 Houston ( you could flip 1 & 2 and not get much arguement right now) 2 St Agnes 3. St Benedict (3-5 interchangeable) 4. St. Mary's 5. Collierville 6. St. Georges 7. Briarcrest 8. USJ 9. Germantown 10. ECS
  24. Bearden 2-0 over Germantown Bearden scored on set piece both times off headers...1st goal was with about 15 mins left in half...if defender stays on post she would have stopped it...the ball hit the post low to the ground....2nd half goal was qualty header with probably with 10 mins left...Last 15 mins of match, Bearden either turned up pressure or Gtown wilted due to lack of depth...probably a little of both....was expecting to see a blowout by Bearden..didn't happen..game was more competitive than i expected...both keepers played well and had to make quality saves...Bearden keeper made amazing save at end of 1st half...my impression of Bearden is they are solid across the field but no game changing player that I saw...Heard they are ranked #1 in state...I think Houston and Franklin are 1A and 1B and everybody else is a notch below....but thats why they play the game!
  25. Gracie Irby converted two free kicks for GHS and was 2-1 at half...fairly balanced game by half....ND came out with alot of pressure first 10-12 mins of 2nd half and GHS scored on a counter attack finished by Anna Leslie. ND did have one nice scoring opp late but GHS keeper made great save. GHS is slowly getting better due to mulitple reasons...not gonna dominate teams but they will come up and bite a good one every now and then. ND has a good team....heard they are down from previous years....#5 and #12 really stood out... FYI per canes food message...deli mexicana is awesome...nothing like you have ever had before...on gtown parkway across the street from the chick fila near Humphreys Blvd....Gtown Commissary for BBQ, ribs, deviled eggs, bananna pudding, sweet tea...can't go wrong.....lastly, Osaka (sushi) on Houston Levee Rd on left just south of poplar ave...try the Jamaican Roll!
