  1. Tyner has the speed to potentially put some points on the board, but I think we can bottle them up. Don't think they have the size to slow us down. Signal by 3 TD's, but will be close in the first half. A blowout is possible, however, depending on which Tyner team shows up. And remember, this will be the first game of their season.
  2. Don't mean to speak for the Ambassador, but I think he was speaking more regionally. What he probably is saying is, 'a shot at the 4a championship is ours lose.' Meaning that we should make it deep into the playoffs and have a legitimate chance of winning it all if we play to our potential. We did not look like a championship team last night. Plenty to work on, but I expect we will get things dialed in and be ready to make a run down the home stretch.
  3. Well...Signal got the ugly win against East Hamilton. Good to have the first game out of the way. Hats off to East Hamilton, who are much improved and should do well in their district this year. So...how are the Rams gonna do against the Eagles? I saw Coach Turner on the Mountain last night. Guess he wuz scouting Mac's defense, since everbody knows what's coming from Price's offense. Can Signal stop the speedy Rams? How will Tyner's defense hold up against the Signal onslaught?
  4. Good to know Stinger ain't drivin'. Hope y'all make it back across the state line safe and with a W.
  5. If you gonna do somethin', gotta do it right.
  6. Kegs are stashed in the bunker. They won't find us this time. Chicken suit is reinforced with kevlar and got some titanium spurs. Don't want to mess with the chicken this year.
  7. Is y'all takin' Week 0 off, or is y'all just gonna be playin' with yerselves?
  8. Ain't nobody ruinin' my party, Mr. BrownEyeWilly. Win or lose, there's a party. Just more fun when yer winnin'.
  9. Looks like you and APB is sharin' the only computer in Blount County with Photoshop loaded on it. I'z kinda partial to the Dodgers, but I hate blue. Could you change it to red for me?
  10. I can send the Chicken down to get both sides fired up. I'll be pullin' for Soddy in this one. Having coach Orr sit this one out should be extra motivation for the fellers.
  11. Sounds like a cluster to me. High school football should be Friday Night Lights.
  12. Discipline is the key word. Discipline, focus, and execution are the keys to success in high school football. It is very difficult to get every player to focus and execute on every snap of the ball. Achieving this is the coach's responsibility, and I believe this is Coach Price's strong point. The same can probably be said of Grider at South Pitt, Creasy at Trousdale, Rankin at Alcoa, and Ballard at Greeneville. They do not tolerate mental lapses very well, and the players understand this. You should see the intensity and pace of one of Signal's practices. By the time gameday arrives, every starter has had thousands of reps, understands his duty on each play, and maintains focus on execution. If they don't, they won't be starting long. JMO PS-- Afore everbody jumps on this, I ain't talkin' about behavioral discipline.
  13. Thanks for the link. Great picture. I'll have to get in touch with your friend.
  14. Signal and Bradley Central are going to be tough non-district games for the Canes this year. I believe y'all, Red Bank, Chatt Central, and Tyner are about equally matched this year, and district 6AA should be exciting. I wish you guys the best of fortunes. Starting Week 1 of course.
  15. I'll take the bait. Although the team and coaches are focusing on one game at a time, I guess it's okay for us fans to engage in this type of speculation. I believe our team is good enough this year to compete with any team in the state. Would we prevail against the elite teams in AA, AAA, and DII? Idk, but I believe we would have a fighting chance. I am confident that the offense can put points on the board against even the best defenses in the state. Can our defense stop some of the best offenses? I doubt it, but we will continue to improve defensively. I'm not sure that "Defense Wins Championships" applies 100% of the time, but it is certainly difficult to win a championship without a strong defense. Remember Signal is very senior heavy this year, so the next couple of years could be a challenge. The truly great programs seem to find a way to reload and rebuild. I believe the next three years will define our program as much or more than these first three years. We have a really good group of young guys coming up through the program and a good coaching staff, so I am optomistic, but only time will tell. To stay on topic, I believe Signal will beat East Hamilton by 4 TD's. I'll also go on record as saying 15-0 is not out of the realm of possibilities this year. It won't be easy, but it is not impossible. That's why we play the game, right?
  16. It's Biff, not Beauregard. Remember, the real money in Chattanooga descends from them danged carpetbaggers. Most the Biff's and Buffy's on the mountain still send their kids private. The Yuppies up here is mostly treehuggin', Teva wearin', bleedin' heart liberals. The crowd I run with is just good ole moonshine drinkin', cockfightin' rednecks like you folks in Soddy. Only difference is we ain't got the meth labs.
  17. Y'all shouldn't go throwing Waterboy under the bus like that. We need all the SM fans we can get ... real, bandwagon, imposter, imagined, or otherwise. I sat behind all the Baylor people last night, and they cheered louder for Bradley Central than they did when Baylor played. Guess they don't like us. They were absolutely giddy when Bradley scored. I think a couple of Buffy's may have even p'd their panties in the excitement. I LMAO. Trying to stay on topic, East Hamilton did not look very impressive tonight. They got some pretty athletic looking players and a large squad, so I'm at a loss to understand why they haven't put it all together yet. Hopefully, they will improve as the year goes along, but they don't look ready for an away opener on Signal. No dissin', JMO.
  18. EH played Rhea County. Rhea had some good looking kids, but their new coach has a lot of work to do. In spite of that, EH still did not look too good. Tyner played Walker Valley. Tyner was very disappointing.
  19. CCS did not look that good tonight at Finley. Bucs should have subs in by halftime.
  20. Golston and Houstin didn't play last night. Their O line looked good, so they will be a legitimate two dimensional team with those two in the game. Our secondary will improve with time and some adjustments. Vandyken will be a good safety with more experience.
