  1. 8AAA - District is at Franklin County
  2. Knows it's not my place to add a response, but when I saw the 11-2 halftime score, was really suprised. I thought Blackman would try to be more physical, up tempo and take care of the ball. I think that stalling just helped the Seigal's bigs stay in the game...rested. With Blackman stalling all you're really trying to do is spread the defense so you can get lay-ups...but it helps if you have the lead and can force the defense to adjust. I wonder if LaVergne will stall or try to run...will be nice to see that game and how they attack Seigal...I doubt they'll stall though and if they do...they'll probably have the lead to force their bigs out from under the basket...
  3. Lincoln Co at Franklin Co for tonight, rescheduled for this Saturday with Girls starting at 2:00pm
  4. Good luck Friday against Columbia...see you guys come tourney time
  5. Blackman looked much better than they did earlier at Franklin Co. We looked flat and not just one but 2-3 three steps slower and not ready to play. Blackman won by 15+ but I think they could have won by 25. I think if they bang the boards like they did tonight they will have a shot at pulling an upset over the other three. But I think they will need to do better with turnovers. I thought they had too many non-pressure TOs and they will need to make those possession count more. Good Luck this Friday...hope you pull off the upset..
  6. You might want to read into the reply I was giving. Also, you might want to check my picks I posted on 7 Nov where I have Lawrence Co. as my favorite. My sarcasm was directed to the post that was bashing 8AAA and your Wilcats. What you mis-interpeted as me insulting your Wildcats was me referring that some schools like Lawrence Co do not have a readily supply of AAA schools within driving distance to validate the extra expenditure for the cost of transportation and meals (that include us too). We just got back from playing Blackman in front of a whooping 50-60 people in the stands, plus our boys and girls team looked liked they didn't even want to be there in the middle of the week. What I was referring to about the Geography and Economics lesson was in reference to location and not LCs academics. And if you had taken some time to read my response properly you would have seen I was referring to his comment. That if he had spent time looking at a map he would notice that Lawrence Co isn't exactly near a major metropolitan area such Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville where you can travel ten minutes and fill up a schedule with AAA teams. And I'm fully aware how much money can be generated playing rival games and keeping the gym full and the concession hopping. As for the parity, we really don't have a dominant team and while Lawrence Co is 5-0 they still have to play Columbia twice and Tullahoma at their place (didn't exactly dominate them at home did you?). However, your Wildcats are about the only team in district that is playing more consistant than the others and I wouldn't be suprised if they went 10-0 in district. I am somewhat suprised that Columbia is playing up and down like they are but I expect them to be ready for the tourney. As for your response, sounds like a touch too much of arrogance. Plus, that was sarcasm in reference to the Seigal game last year (I know what the score was). You might want to take a course in Reading Comprehension though....and you might want to read he posted on the Tullahoma vs Lincoln Co thread...
  7. Congrats Hornets...keep it up.
  8. We call that parity, which adds more excitement to every game. And you are right we definately aren't one of the top conferences, but I don't recall anyone from 8AAA saying we were. As for post play, I can't speak for our other 8AAA teams, but feel free to ask Riverdale (Carroll) and Blackman (Peak) how they liked playing against our post. I think he dropped about 25 on each and our other post is playing well off of the attention that the other draws. And Shelbyville and Columbia have good post players too, but the three of us probably are not the caliper of some of the 7AAA schools (Seigal and Riverdale), but we hold our own. What we don't have is that dominent player (like Andrews...) that really stands out. As for half court offense vs. street ball run-n-gun, our team would be crazy to try to get up and down the court in a fast tempo game. We tried with Lavergne and got burned, but I recall that Riverdale and Blackman run set offenses. Did they learn that from one of the A schools up there? We have,I would say, three schools that run up-tempo. Tullahoma and Lincoln Co do because of lack of size and Columbia can because of their overall athletism. But Franklin Co and Shelbyville do better running those "slow half court offense" and pounding you inside. And we've have some success against those run-n-gun teams when we slow it down because most of those teams have little to no discipline or patience. As for Lawrance Co. playing A schools, once again someone should have spent more time in high school studying economics and geography. Oh that's right, you probably were studying basketball and elementry level math. I seem to recall that mighty Seigal really took it to Lawrence Co last year, but we're not talking about last year...are we?
  9. I was wondering how long it would take a 7AAA fan to post some biased comment. Is this part of your anger management therapy (bash another conference)? Shelbyville isn't the only one playing AAA teams. However, I do agree we as a conference would be better scheduling AAA schools as much as we could. But for us schools that don't have a readily supply of AAA teams within 10-20 miles we are limited (money) with who we can schedule. Oh! and why shouldn't someone get excited about winning conference game. If you're supposed to be better than the school you play, you should win, which is what they did....
  10. With what they have on the floor now...Maybe. With Carroll in, I don't think White Co can hang. White Co would need to shoot about 65% from the field with him in. Riverdale has an all around solid team, but White Co has some solid players too. They'll definately need to bring their "A" game to pull this one out, or for Riverdale to have the flu.

  15. Great game last night in Shelbyville. Game was back and forth from the 2nd quarter on, with neither team getting more that a 4-5pt lead. Each team had multiple times to win in regulation and in each of the three overtimes, but both teams kept battling each other. Hard to see FC lose like that but I'm sure the Eagles would have felt the same. Looks like the Eagle guards finally were able to help out Jarrell and Wilson offensively. I think both had 23, and their guards and ours did a good job with pressure considering both team were belly-up man for most of the game. Lester finished with 33 for FC and couldn't miss in the 2nd half and Brown had 21 with Simmons 12. Nice to see our guards adding to the scoring column. I get the feeling, we are starting to gel better as a team and not lean so much on Lester overall, even though the offense goes through him. Before it seemed like we would get the ball inside to him and stand back and watch (like we did in the 1st half against LC). Now some are seeing the holes in the defense and getting to the spots for open looks. Shelbyville was what I thought they were; pound it inside and hit the O-boards. They did a good job on the glass and their intensity was there. Thought we should have played more zone until their guards proved they could hit. Should be interesting year seeing how all teams develop and improve going into the District Tourney. Anyone know what's up with Columbia? They got everyone back from football or are they just not playing well right now?
  16. I look for a tighter race as a lot of teams lost some key players; Columbia - English, Shelbyville - Andrews, Lawrance Co - Brink...just to name a few. I think Lincoln Co will be much better and Tullahoma may need to find a replacement for Rusk, but they bring back, I think, four starters. Curious to see how Shelbyville does without Andrews, but I expect they will probably rely on the inside game more and pound the boards with Jarrell and Wilson. Lawrance Co. is probably the favorite and as athletic Columbia will always be right in the thick of things. Franklin Co has six seniors also (two of them were out last year)and Lester should get more help inside with Perkins and Heatherly.
